San Diego has had fires that go from an area called scripps ranch across 14 lanes of the I-15 freeway. .east to west a 6 lane in each direction plus carpool lanes in the middle. North and south I-15 had flames cross due to the winds. The Cedar fire ripped through eucalyptus groves and decimated a lot of homes. After that debacle San Diego geared Up and invested a TON into fire prevention infrastructure. we were evacuated for that one so far since nothing horrible here like what has occurred in LA . we had to open the fence gate on our side yard because the wind has blown it off twice already during past Santa Ana events. Seeing the wind whip around the eucaluptus trees from side to side is creepy. Those go up like matchsticks during a fire. We and my neighbors have cleared trees and dry brush in a safe distance around our house. But I see them across the canyon from me We do what you can do to gtry to mitigate risk and hope for the best. The feeling is weird. It's like waiting for something to happen which Might. Or might not. And if and when it does it could be QUICK but you TRY not to worry too much because it's not healthy nor helps a single bit. me writing about it is helping lessen some anxiety that follows ME around.

pfft I was driving in some gridlock just now after a Dr appt. I thought there was a traffic accident. Nope. Fire approx 5 miles from my house. SMH I just got through before the huge gridlock occured due to I-15 closure at Camino del sur. If it hops to Black Mountain la casa Muppeta would be at risk. But that is a LOT of distance and SDFD will fight tooth and nail to prevent just that. Lord have mercy. EDIT: They've got this fire pretty much under control. Lots of worry due to how populated an area this fire encroached upon. Evacuation area where people were directed to go if evacuated from their homes at a near retail area. . A lot of people already at work but this occured fast. schools went into lockdown. This info Im gleaning from CBS 8 preempted programming coverage. Carmel Mountain road area. it's all San Diego it just blends into neighborhoods. Mine is Rancho Penasquitos. Black Mountain If you see that on the TV it's not good news

yes and also a fire in east Poway. The winds need to calm down before we socal folks can let our guard down. I have an emergency bag packed because these fires can pop off and spread fast. I live between 2 canyons in a suburban neighborhood.
