  1. There is so much more meat on that bone for deeper analysis.

Plenty of those WRs had really good seasons when they had good QB play or good offensive systems. Even K. Benjamin had 1000 yards his rookie season, but missed the following and was never the same.

A rookie WR is coming in to play with Josh Allen and an offensive system that had been very WR friendly in the past.

I still have a bad feeling that if Cooper DeJean is on the board at 28, McD shouts down any WR talk, and the Bills draft DeJean.

Unless one of the top 4-5 WRs somehow fall to 28, I’d have zero issues with this happening.

We have enough 4s, 5s, and 6s to combo them with 60 and move up for a WR on day 2.

Ill be a happy dude if we walk into Saturday with one of the top 8 WRs and FS Cooper Dejean.

I just finished re-reading Ronald Reng's "A Life Too Short" about the German soccer goalie Robert Enke who was on his way to become the top choice for the German national team for the 2010 World Cup. However, suffering from depression, Enke killed himself in November 2009. Reng's book is powerful testimony how even highly successful individuals can be afflicted by depression. The book won several awards, including British Sports Book of the Year.

For some lighter entertainment, try "The Keeper of Dreams" by the same author. It chronicles the career of another German goalie who, coming from a forth division soccer club in Germany, suddenly ended up in the English Premier League. Especially enlightening are the accounts of day-to-day life in the Premier League, which is not always so glamorous.

Very cool! Thanks for keeping the thread alive!

Diggs won’t be the #1, he will be the 2b / 3 rd WR, if I’m CJ I tell Diggs to go Fuh k off the first, second and third time he opens his mouth,  CJ isn’t stupid, and like everyone else has seen his act twice now, the Texans know full well Diggs is a smiling malcontent type, on top of that he is not part of a long term plan in Houston, he is a short term mercenary for them nothing more, and in two seasons he will be a Cleveland Brown…,

Diggs will sign with KC next year if he controls that opt out clause.

Great article from the Athletic.  Basically says that teams routinely over-estimate their own ability to predict player performance and as a result overestimate the value of their own specific picks.  Instead, they should maximize the number of lottery tickets they’re buying.

    Thoughts?

Agreed, with variables. Teams with better talent development (Bills) may be more likely to hit on the prospect than teams without it a strong development system.

That’s why even the stats about where WRs have been drafted and how successful needs to be taken with heavy variables in mind. A 2nd round pick or third round WR drafted with an elite QB could have a better career than a first rounder who went to a crap team.

    Thanks for the response.

I read a fairly long article the other day on The Ringer that went into detail about the years-long Bloodline storyline, Paul Heyman's influence on long term storytelling, and the general pivot towards an approach that almost mimics serial drama TV series. I believe they sort of tongue-in-cheek referred to it as the "Succession Era" (after the TV show).

I do think layered, intertwining, long term storytelling makes pro wrestling better and more interesting. They have AEW beat by a country mile when it comes to that aspect of things. If you could combine the WWE's current storytelling and video packages with AEW's in-ring wrestling, you'd have the GOAT wrestling product.

Absolutely, I will say the quality of performers has gone through the roof as well. I think they are being given more in-ring creative freedom and it shows.

I grew up a wrestling fan, but stoped watching around 2003 for a while. In 2011 or 2012 I got back into it, but man the product was just plain bad. I was more into the behind the scenes and production aspect.

Selling to TKO, AEW competition,  McMahon getting forced out (twice), and honestly the Roman Reigns Bloodline Saga saved WWE and probably main stream pro wrestling.

Is he really in charge of the WWE. I would think Stephanie or Shane is the real power behind the scenes.

He’s the Chief Creative Officer, Shane and Steph are no longer with the company (although Steph is expected back).

The TKO board and the CEO really run WWE, but they give Trips freedom who gives the writers and performers freedom.

Funny enough, The Rock is a board member.

I'm asking because I haven't watched the WWE in quite some time (I'm an AEW guy), and I'm legitimately curious...

Have the shows since 'Mania cut down on all the talking? Is there more of a focus on the actual, um...wrestling?

Because I had read that the first Raw after 'Mania opened with a 47 minute talk/promo segment between The Rock and Cody Rhodes. And if that's the case, I'm curious to know what feels different to people about the Levesque era than the era that proceeded it.

I'm not pooping on the WWE. I'm forever part of team "let people like things", and if people are enjoying the Fed right now, I'm happy for them. I'm just curious what people feel is separating Levesque's direction from what came before.

There is still lots of talking, but it’s way more entertaining and it seems they are opening the show lately with really strong promo’s rather than matches.

The whole presentation of the shows are just different now, hard to explain but I’m finding less boring periods to skip through.

Storylines have been revamped and have much more depth and are intertwining with each other.

I think this Era will go down as better than the Attitude Era.
