We’re severely underestimating Samuel.
Samuel is going to probably be a 80 catch 1000 yard WR for us.
I think his numbers will average out to that, but he won’t get there. Coleman’s role will increase as the season progresses and Shakir will get targets.
I can see him having 1000 all purpose yards, though.

To be clear bad players get released good players get traded. He wasn’t great but he wasn’t bad either.
Oh bad players get traded, we have a history of them on both side of that coin haha
I wouldn’t hate Zay, but I think at 29 he will hold out for the right opportunity. He offers nothing on special teams, and I doubt he cracks the Big 4 (Kincaid, Samuel, Shakir, Coleman) here.
He can go to Pitt and probably be their top guy.

Jones best season was 2023 CS was 2020…something to consider🤷♂️
I get it. Both guys are serviceable #2 receiving options who are probably best as a #3 option at this point in their careers.

Yea I’m definitely not benching Shakir for Jones.

I don’t want anyone taking snaps from Shakir or Coleman. How many WRs do people think will get meaningful snaps and targets?
Agreed. I respect Jones for the career he carved out, but what skill set does he bring that we don’t already have?

I like Hamler a lot. That was a very sneaky signing
If healthy, he could be the new Isaiah McKenzie #2 slot.

Zay was pretty solid for the Jags. Not worthy of his outrageous contract, but still solid. 2022 was a better year statistically than any year than Samuel had. 2023 he was on par for a repeat of 2022 until he was injured.
Thanks Captain Insight.
Ehh
Jones best season he had 82 catches - 823 yards - 5 TDs - 13 drops - 68% catch rate
CD best season he had 77 catches - 851 yards - 3 TD - 5 drops - 79% catch rate
They are basically the same guy, just different type. High end #3 passing targets who can be serviceable #2 passing targets for a season.
-
2 drops in 2020
2 drops in 2021
13 drops in 2022 with an expanded role.
1 drop in 2023 (short season)
At 29, we are looking at WR4 and I’d rather let Hollis/Shorter/Hamler compete for it.

Lancaster kid gets a shot with the Bills. I hope he sticks.
The impressive thing is both minicamps are at the same time.

This kid is already doing/saying everything right to instantly become a fan favorite.
It’s not forced either like some of the guys who drop all the cliche Buffalo catch phrases to get over with the fan base.

I'm holding out a small glimmer of hope that Beane knows/sees things regarding Shorter and Hamler. Hamler apparently has trained his body real hard this off-season and spent time with Josh. He has 4.3 speed. It was intriguing that Keon specifically mentioned Hamler. Maybe he met him while on his visit here. Beane has also mentioned Shavers a few times, who was a fantastic STer in college. Maybe they see something in him?
Unless something changes, there is a clear top 3 WR. Then a battle for 4-6 and likely 7 for ST's
Coleman
SamuelShakir
Hollis
Hamler
Shorter
Shavers / Quintez / Isabella / Xavier Johnson / other UDFA's
I will also note....if this staff fails to get Coleman ready and start him, that is unacceptable.
Force feed him the ball and speed up the learning process on the field.
KJ Hamler smoke is real. Multiple shout-outs this summer, excited to see him in the preseason. Could he lock down slot depth and KR?

Buffalo has been quietly building a linebacking corps of players who are smart, instinctive and can all run: Milano, Bernard, Dorian Williams, Baylon Spector. Bernard needed a year to learn McDermott's system, but had a terrific sophomore season. 2023 was Dorian Williams' redshirt season. Spector also started slow, but had some good games in 2023 when pressed into service. Hopefully, Ulofoshio can follow the same path. He's got enough speed.
They can all cover and knife into the backfield too.
We love Milano, but I think his succession plan is in full swing. He’ll be 30 in July and only has 3 seasons where he’s started more than 13 games in his career. I don’t know what the future looks like for him if he can’t stay healthy.

His highlights certainly were impressive.
His athletic testing was not 😬 Good vision can overcome a lot of that though!

I think gore, bills (guard) and the punter all have a chance. Gore could stick with an injury or could be Ps at least and bills nd the punter can make the team outright. I had 6th/ 7th round picks on all of them
Have you been able to find anything on the punter? I can’t find a single scouting report

They are trolling us right? It’s like a science experiment.
He did post a 4.62 at his pro day, for what it is worth.

Let me say this:
Bills have three 2nd round pick WRs on their roster.
Two of them are low-4.3 guys and have never been utilized as a deep threats in the NFL to this point.
The best deep threat we’ve had on this roster in some time actually ran a 4.53 40 and weighed 220 pounds.

He's listed at 5'9" and 178 pounds. There have been plenty of shorter safeties but they are much heavier, so Hardy looks to be strictly a nickel. Even guys like Jim Leonard, Bob Sanders, and Tyrann Mathieu weighed at least 190. Can't see this as an option.
Hardy did have a 40+ inch vert.
1 hour ago, Rew said:Still a decent chance Hyde comes back post June 1st. It's been hinted by both sides.
Not sure what he has left in the tank, but that lineup would be :
FS - Hyde, Edwards, Lewis
SS - Bishop, Rapp, Hamlin
Otherwise I think we are looking at
FS - Bishop, Edwards, Lewis
SS - Rapp, Hamlin
-
Coleman’s 10 yard time was actually faster than Gabe Davis’ as well.
-
Compare Keon Coleman to Tee Higgins and feel better. Higgins had a slightly faster 40 (4.59 to 4.61) but Coleman had a superior 10 yard split (1.54 vs 1.66).
Colemans 1.54 10 yard split was actually in the 68th percentile among all the WRs in the draft.
We have multiple burners on this roster, but we have lacked the big, physical WR with some athletic ability for years.

Cephus ran a 4.73 so he’s slower than Coleman .
For F sakes
He ran a 4.62

Just a depth signing, only had 2 catches last year.
-
Bishop isn’t a box safety, he’s the most athletic DB on the roster next to Elam.
Bills also like their safeties to be able to cover deep and play in the box, he’ll do both.

Edwards only started 5 games last year, it’s not a stretch to say Bishop will have the opportunity to start at FS.

For Samuel to have 1000 yards we’d have to have injuries to Kinciad, Shakir, and probably Coleman. He’s definitely capable of having one of those Stevie Johnson or John Brown type “#1 by default” 1000 yard seasons, but man we don’t want that scenario
