Why would minnesota trade the face of their franchise though?

They have zero reason to trade jefferson.  Seemingly they are going to go up to get a qb to maximize jefferson.

They have every reason to trade him.

He's already turned down a $30 mill a year offer from Minnesota.  Why tie up a large chunk of your cap space for a disgruntled WR, only for him to rot on your roster that has no viable QB?

They have Hockenson and Addison.  Good pieces to build around.  Why not use picks to retool?

  2. I might be able to complete a 5 yard out as long as the corner gives a 10 yard cushion and doesn't jump the route.

I'd then be on a 800mg Ibuprofen diet for the rest of the week due to my aching shoulder.

This reminds me of that former Syracuse player Matt Tomaszweski who tried to play Brian Scalabrine in one on one. This guy played in the Big East, but only could manage one point against the very definition of an NBA journeyman. To paraphrase scal, Nathan Peterman is closer to Mahomes than you are to him.

    Franklin if they trade back.

Thomas and Worthy at 28 or trade up. Walker at 60 if they go a different direction at 28. If they trade down I think Franklin would be a target.

Trade down to where?  Franklin won't make it past the first 5 picks of the 2nd round.

If that's their guy, it doesn't really matter if you grab him at #28 or #37.

This is a tough one....on one hand, you have the 2nd best QB in the league, but on the other hand, there are some quality QB's in this draft.....unproven, yes, but every QB is unproven when coming out of college and playing their first season in the NFL.

I voted yes, only because if you can get enough draft capital in the next 2 years, you could actually build something special. It seems we're just piecemealing a roster together the past couple of years, but if you can create a structured foundation, you can have a somewhat juggernaut for years to come.....all on a rookie salary.

Would i want this to happen?......probably not, but i wouldn't be upset with it.

A level-headed response, BUT I'm trying to think of everything.

Josh, with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Kmet, DeAndre Swift at RB and a very good Bears defense... he would be in better situation than he is currently.

The Bears would be favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.  It would be tough to live that down, particularly after trading away the Mahomes pick.

Exactly Alpha.  Good words spoken.  Devonta Smith is a good but certainly not dominant force every week in the NFL.  Look at how the Eagles season ended up.  They completely went in the tank and there was real talk about Siriani being canned.  Football is a team game.  Trading for some overhyped self proclaimed great WR who wants a ton of money is not how to build a team.  We should draft 2 maybe 3 WR's that can all run.  Let Josh show them how its done.  Look at the Packers receiving group last year.  All a bunch of young guys that can run.  Lets replicate that with our stud QB and excellent TE and RB, and we will be dynamite on offense.  Davis was a plodder and Diggs is pretty much washed.  Time to go young and cheap at the position.  Our salary cap has been a mess.  We need to draft some good players that can contribute right away.  Having the oldest safety duo in the league is over.  Time to change it up.  We don't need to be paying a WR $25+ million per unless it is Justin Jefferson.  NOONE else is worth that much period.

I'd bet my house (not really, but I'm confident) Beane has kicked the tires on Jefferson.

    Just a gut feeling.

  6. In the immortal words of Marlo Stanfield, "Price of the brick going up."

DeVonta Smith just signed for approximately $25 mill per year.

Me thinks Aiyuk is now off the table.  Contracts have seen an uptick.  From Cousins, to Jacksonville Josh, now Smith.

Analytics really seem to love franklin this year.  Pff has him very highly rated as well.

Matt Harmon's ranking of Franklin outside the top let's me know to never follow his scouting of receivers.

Right. But in this case, Rice has admitted full guilt, turned himself in, is fully cooperating, and is going the total contrition, "throw himself on the mercy of the court" route.

In these types of cases, it's my understanding that prior legal history and a stance of remorse both play big parts, and Rice has been in absolutely no prior legal trouble, and is at least feigning (if not actually feeling) remorse.

At the end of the day, I STILL expect this to be plead down to lesser misdemeanor chargers, a hefty fine and financial restitution paid, no jail time, and no more than four games suspension. Likely just two.

That's my prediction and I'm stickin to it!

Very nice breakdown, but I'm going to go with a 6-8 game suspension.

I don't know what the legal standards are to guess prison time or not, but I wouldnt imagine it'd be more than a few months.

On the heels of Henry Ruggs and Britt Reid, I think the NFL wants this to look "right" and not like a slap on the wrist.

Rice is so lucky no one died.  I bet he's on the straight and narrow for the remainder of his career.

  9. There is no 1 way to success.

So now the Bills are going to copy the Patriots with a bunch of JAGs at wide receiver and dink and dunk all over the field?

Why are fans so opposed to giving Allen the weapons he needs?

In the same way Josh isn't going to carry this team on his back to a Super Bowl, the Bills aren't going to "moneyball" their way there either.

Think '89/'94 49ers, '93 Cowboys, '21 Buccaneers.  Loaded with talent, with the right guy at QB.  That's how they get it done.

You should have quit after 2. 🍺

I’ve said before….I believe the Bills are going to have a make-over when they open the new stadium. And I mean a new logo and new look. Not anyting from the past. Just a gut feeling.

Which would be unfortunate because the current look is close to perfect.

I'm glad teams like the Jets, Giants, 49ers, etc have realized that simpler is better.

    They don’t.

Corey Davis didn’t, N’Keal Harry didn’t, Kevin White didn’t, LaQuan Treadwell didn’t, Josh Doctson didn’t, John Ross didn’t….

    Jalen Reagor

  12. So far, I've only seen 2 receivers mentioned that Bills have met with formally at the combine, their pro days and have a top 30 visit scheduled and that's Troy Franklin and Devontez Walker.

What happened to that top-30 tracker thread?
