This is EXACTLY what I am talking about.    It's nonsense.

TT lead a top 7 scoring offense thru 15 games in 2016.......he wasn't holding THAT offense back........and yet that's the misconception from Tyrophobes.

The Bills offense was atrocious in 2017............but it was the WORST wr situation in team history..........yes, even worse than the 2-14 teams.........a misfit scheme and a poor play caller......a run game that stalled the minute the reserve entered the game after two years where Bills reserves lead the NFL in ypc..........these are the things that "held the offense back" in 2017.

Would having an "elite" QB made them better?

Of course, but those guys are SCARCE.

So be furious at McD for not drafting Watson.   Watson turned out to be a one man show and was re-writing the record books for rookie QB's and they passed on him.

Or blame the previous regimes for not taking chances on QB's with elite potential.

But no.......Bills following dummies gotta' blame the guy who outplayed his pedigree and his contract for 3 years.

It's just such a bad look for the fanbase.

Hey, Badolbilz...three words...fifty-six yards...just keep repeating that to yourself whenever you feel the urge to defend Tyrod...Fifty-six yards...Fifty-six yards...

And for the record, I wanted to trade down last year, so I agreed with McD...that’s why I want to get our QB this year.

He converted PLENTY of 3rd downs,  especially considering the talent around him for most of the past two seasons.    Hell this year he lead two 18 play drives for fuxake.    Probably the two longest drives in team history.

Like I said........too many Bills fans/observers became blind to what he COULD do which is why they are so "shocked" at the return the Bills got for him.

One of the worst developments for Tyrod was the increasingly easy availability of "All-22" tape which allowed a lot of dummies that normally just watch whoever has the football to take time and notice that......"gee, WR's aren't actually covered all the time"..........which lead to a lot of Bills fans, and WGR "faux" analysts who don't follow the league jumping to the VERY WRONG conclusion that TT was the only QB in the NFL who doesn't throw the ball to open WR's.

After that he could do no right.    Scramble for 15 yards on 3rd and 14?........welp that must be because he missed a wide open WR.:lol:

Tyrod getting traded for a 3rd round pick.......with other teams also offering up picks......... when everyone knew they had no intention of keeping him is not a validation of the idea that he is a bad QB.   Sorry........it's just another "L" for Tyrophobes.

Tyrod had some skills for sure...but it became obvious to most people that the negative outweighed the positive and that he was holding the offense back.

  3. Mayfield is my first choice, Darnold is my second choice...I am seriously worried about Rosen’s injury history...I believe he has never played a full season in college in three years...and combining his intelligence with his family’s money, I could see him bolting from the NFL for greener pastures if he has a third concussion...remember his first two were within a month of each other to end the season, and it has been said once you get one, it becomes easier to get more.

Everyone talks about Rosen’s personality as a potential reason not to draft him...that is actually the least of my worries with him...As good as he is I just don’t think he has the toughness and durability to withstand a full NFL season like Mayfield and Darnold.

Well, of the the top twenty QB's in the league last year, maybe half were first round picks. Two of those top twenty were with their second team. Three of the top twenty are on their way to another team. Six of those top twenty were day two or later picks. You thinking trading up in the draft is a sure bet to land a franchise QB is misguided.

No one said anything about it being a sure bet...but it certainly improves your chances of finding a franchise guy.

You can’t play the game “not to lose”, because the odds are that’s exactly what will happen...in order to win in life you need to create your own success...you can’t wait for someone to hand it too you.

Sure, there are a few times you might get lucky- but who wants to live that way? Imo it’s time THIS organization took the bull by the horns and announced to the world “We are tired of being pushed around and dictated to...We are ready to make our own success and finally be a contender again!”

I just don't understand all the love for moving up in the draft to get our QB.  If I'm the GM or owner I have the attitude that I'm building this team to beat the Patriots. Best team in the division, best team in the AFC, best team in the league. I don't go after an unproven commodity. That being said; I go after Foles first, if I can't get him, Andrew Luck, he dosent seem happy in Indy and they need everything. If they don't work out. I get Keenum, if that doesn't happen, I try to find a "bridge" guy.  Maybe Tom Savage, Bradford, or Teddy.

I draft the best DT available. You beat the Patsies with pressure right up the middle.  Then I find an edge rusher.  There are going to be QB's falling in the draft.

If you don’t understand why it’s important to move up in the draft to get your franchise QB, I cannot help you.

What’s the latest on Glenn’s injury ? Is he making any progress ? Just wondering if anyone heard anything !!

From everything I have heard, he is progressing well, and I believe he should be ready for the beginning of the offseason program- which, of course, is a positive sign...but, you just never know until he works out and plays on a consistent basis...how will the ankle respond.

You would be happy with a 4th for Glenn ??

    i know there’s injury concerns but he’s a top 10 left tackle ,

Totally agree, but I think you also have to take into consideration his contract, which I would think would be a little prohibitive...and remember, we are a talking about a guy who didn’t really play last year... you have to think of it as a Bills fan if the roles were reversed...would we be thrilled giving up more than a 4th for a guy that we weren’t sure if he could ever play at a top level again? so, while he COULD be great, it’s still a big gamble imo.

  8. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again...I was pro tank for the simple fact that it was the perfect time for it...first year HC and FO with a great upcoming QB class, and an extra first round pick...there were no expectations for success...the first year was your “free pass” where no one would get upset for not having success because everyone understood you have to transition into a new system.

The playoffs was a nice feeling and great for the city but it was fleeting...in the end, it means nothing because we are right back to where we were before the season started.  However, a potential franchise QB can bring you to several playoffs over roughly 15 years and give you hope that you could win in any year.

I always said to myself I want to tank first...but if we don’t tank we better make the playoffs because nothing would have been worse than missing out on both opportunities imo.

  9. 2 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said:

It is rarely used on QBs though. Vick is the best example (and the player that most closely resembles Jackson) and would say that his career was peaks and valleys. He had a few great years and a prison sentence in between. I don’t expect Jackson to go to prison but he has a similar skill set.

He certainly isnt without risk. With that being said, he has a massive arm and is an elite athlete. Jackson can mask a lot of the playmaking issues that this team has. He’d be the fastest player on offense tomorrow. He plays in a pro style offense additionally. Being an elite athlete doesn’t mean that he can’t be a good QB. The tools are there.

I still prefer the Bills trade up for Mayfield or Rosen (and still think that is the likeliest scenario). With that being said, getting Jackson at 21 wouldn’t be a bad constellation. He is boom or bust, much like Allen. The difference is you aren’t using up all of your draft picks on the lottery ticket.

I like your last paragraph...I think I could learn to live with the idea of Jackson at 21 if I had to, but Mayfield is my first choice.
