  1. But a superior passing game with DeSean Jackson, Garcon and the athletic TE. They could make throw-and-catch all day.

Clay = Check Watkins = Check and by far

So insert Cousins, draft a high round WR and RT. Insert all those new pieces with the current O-line and McCoy.

What is there not to love? Until we settle the QB position nothing matters. You build around your QB and O-line once they are established, Until OBD wakes the hell up and realizes this we will always be mediocre.

Cousins has 10 years left in the tank. I'm so damn tired of the Coaching and QB carousel on our team just flat out destroying us. McD will have the exact same fate as the rest until we actually want to fix this issue.

What is 2 first rd draft picks for someone that can be around 10 more years? Not to mention you could waste 2 1st round picks on rookie QB's and still miss, wasting another 6 years to see if they are legit or not. Cousins is legit, if Washington wants to be stupid with the most important position in sports why should we not take advantage for once? We passed on Bress in 06 like fools in the past and I was furious due to having friggin Losman. Why do it again?

Hell, give the next 2 years of 1st rd picks and TT for all I care.

I honestly hope all this cap clearing is for a blockbuster trade with Washington to have enough $$$ to sign Cousins on a long term deal.... One can only wish..............

  2. I liked Cousins coming out of Collage. But with that said I am not sure if he would be the one for us at this time. I guess we will be sitting here waiting to see what the FO does this off season with FA and the draft. I have always been a wait and see kind of guy. So at this time all I can say is GO BILLS. We do have an undefeated record so far.

Who is the one then? The Bills could desperately use his talents IMO. I would give Wash 2 1st rd picks any day of the week. You don't put up 9K passing yards in this league over 2 years by mistake with a team that has a weaker running game.

  3.

When is the last time a SB champ spent like this in the off season ?.....we are talking about NE here...the team with 2 of the last 3 SBs, the team with 14 division titles in 16 years.... what you say is true if you're taking about a team that was just OK before spending in free agency...it's not the case here...

    Spot on!

I knew NE would splurge eventually. Sucks even more it's happening now. The next few years might be rough as hell.

  4.

I only hate the Clay deal out of those. Hughes and Dareus are cornerstone players and McCoy is this roster's luxury and you are always allowed one.

I think at the cornerstones they had done a good job... Glenn, Dareus, Hughes, Watkins and (until the boneheaded decision to let him walk) Gilmore. We still have to nail the most important spot obviously at Quarterback, but the offensive line as a whole is about right cap $$$s wise. We had until an hour ago two safeties earning too much money for their contribution on the field, we have still carried money from that stupid Harvin deal and their drafting other than the cornerstone guys hasn't been good.

Darby, Preston, John Miller are the only 3 non-cornerstone drafted starters on this roster with the exception of Shaq of whom there is more to come and Reggie Ragland who we haven't seen yet. And who are the depth guys who were drafted? Seymour, Listenbee, Cardale and JWill - who sucks - all from last year. Nick O'Leary from 2015, Kounadjio from 2014 and that is your lot.

They have done a great job on the waiver wire and the bottom end street free agents but you are right that you can't rely on that forever.

Nice post, agree on all fronts.

You have to keep you drafted players that play at the level they were drafted at. I honestly have zero idea what this team is doing right now. We have holes all over this roster right now that the draft cannot fix at all. Whaley better pull more lucky charms out his arse on the FA market.

  5. Why would Woods stay? No receiver wants to catch 40 passes a year and be a lead blocker on most plays.

I hear you, it's all about $$$ considering were he went though. Can't blame him as NFL careers are short. Gotta make as much as you can before it's over.

Well considering he caught 51 in 13 games this year (pace for 63 in 16 games) I would say that is a bit of an exaggeration. And he caught 47 last year in 14 games, but only 9 starts. And he caught 65 in 15 games in 2014, and 40 as a rookie in 14 games in 2013.

Seems he is about a 60 to 65 catch guy if he could ever play a full season in Buffalo which he did only once in 4 seasons. I seriously doubt he catches more than 65 passes for the Rams next year either.

He is just not that good of a player, he is a mediocre #2...the issue is now in LA, the top guy there is really a small slot WR in Tavon with bad hands. So the Rams now are going to need Woods to be more of a primary WR in which he has never been able to excel at. I am glad we did not pay him to stay here, and while I wish him success here in LA, I just don't think his ceiling is much higher than that and that the Rams WR group is not looking too good.

Not sure about bolded. He never had the targets in Buffalo to prove himself in all fairness. He averaged 5 targets a game in Buffalo.

  6. Obviously Bill Belicheck believes Gilmore is a good corner.

But many on a Bills message board...

Same crap on the BBMB as well Teef.

Another 1st rd pick wasted. Actually make it 2 as we will spend another 1st round pick on his replacement or typical DB player this year.

    So BILLSY!

  7. This makes me very sad, we had one of the worst receiver corps in the NFL last year, and now it's even worse without woods or goodwin. I guess we can throw it to our fullbacks?

    Right with you bud :(

We are still a friggin farm team for the league. Draft decent high pick starters and let em walk. Was so pissed actually reading this today. I figured we would keep him after the QB restructure deal.

  8. Deal is easy to like if you like mediocrity.

This is the most spot on post If have read actually. it will also be the unwinding of yet another coaching staff. I personally am not content with a 8-8 season or 7-9.

  9. Rex Ryan was fired because of the defense, not the offense.

Did Rex not bring over his ground and pound BS offense in a passing league? Is that not why he had such a hard on for TT to fit that system we will still be forced to run? Is is not true that TT cannot lead a 2 minute offense? Is TT a run first QB when his first read is covered?

Whatever man, we have danced the dance way to much in the past on this topic. You win....... Only advice, don't get so close sighted on one problem when we have many. Everyone and their mother knows our D sucked. We have plenty of other issues.

BTW... How is anything I said "misinformation" when it's 100% the truth. It just does not fit your agenda.

  10. I don't understand what the issue is. What if the Bills draft a QB in the first 3 rounds? Does anyone really have a problem paying Tyrod $10 million AND eliminating the dead cap problem with the old contract? I mean seriously even if you don't like Tyrod you have to admit that is a more than fair contract for what he brings to the team. And it's not like some better option was coming along.

IMO the only reason anyone should be upset with the restructure is if you want the Bills to tank and rebuild. I don't agree with the strategy but at least it's reasonable.

Problem is people are still stuck in this Rex Ryan run first offense mentality, Tyrod Taylor is a run first quarterback. When he is challenged to be a quarterback he flops, we have all seen it and it's not worth debating anymore.

You need to be able to fling the rock at any given moment and properly run a 2 min offense which we are 1000% incapable of.

The money honestly mean jack squat to me, I'm not paying him his 7mill sign-on bonus.

It is, what it is...100% out of my control. I'm over it and will support this one more round. McD is taking a HUGE risk in his early career already.

Happy, I never said tank at all or care for that crap either. A new coaching staff grooming a unproven QB (maybe 2 of them) will get way more slack than what Pegula will give them now that TT took 7 mill from him in cash.. This is a all or nothing move for McD... If he doesn't turn this D around out goes another coaching staff.

How many coaching staffs have we ripped through due to not having a franchise QB? How many more will we go through?

  11. Fix the defense. Draft a QB to sit behind TT. Sign a couple of good FA WRs. Ryan was canned because of the defense, not the offense. TT is not this terrible QB that you and the very few make him out to be. It is beyond ridiculous at this point.

You got your wish bud, I have already moved on and accepted we signed TT again with a nice out as our FO honestly wants nothing to do with him.

TT is not that terrible and he's not that good of a passer as well.

This was the Billsy thing to do like always.

  12. Glad to see the great Tyrod debate is over. I will support TT again while under center but not a fan of this move at all. I see another canned coaching staff after 3 years of hell due to no passing game.

My son will have his own kids before this team makes the playoffs again.

  13.

BBMB was a dead board. I'd check it occasionally and was always surprised by the near complete lack of quality discussion......but oppressive regimes will do that.

I'm not expecting much from anyone who wasn't smart enough to find their way here before BBMB liquidated.......you guys are like Sears shoppers finding Amazon for the first time. Welcome to the 2000's.

    Thanks for that warm welcome.

For the record BBMB had many well educated fans and the site was just as busy as this one if not busier.

Embrace a forced change like we all have and try to respect one another.

  14. I can't say for sure but..

Releasing or trading high profile players and replacing them with less talented ones would be a way of fielding a below average team. This would also help us accrue picks and relieve our salary cap. Sure a coach can make a difference but without the same level of talent you're always the underdog, squeaking out a win or two. I agree, Rex was terrible and his coaching/scheme made good players look awful. And the 3 QBs listed you'd assume would have a less likely chance of succeeding than Tyrod, maybe even less than Cardale.

That's the only way I can see us tanking successfully.

We'd have to get rid of our O-line and McCoy. Just not sure tank is possible with the players we still have on the roster.
