I can understand that if their team made a morally objectionable decision and they could no longer be a fan of that team.

I know several Browns fans who got rid all of their stuff for Browns with one of them being a Browns fan prior to moving to Baltimore and being fan of no team in interim period.

I know some Washington fans no longer being fans anymore with one who burned their jersey and hangs it as a flag on their car.

I can understand some not agreeing with their stances but their definition of ethics is probably different.

I agree but no way I could become "diehard" for another team. My love for the Bills runs too deep. If I had to abandon ship because of a moral issue, I could see becoming a casual fan of another team, or even multiple teams, but not diehard.

When rumors were heating up that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were going to buy the Mets, I was 100% prepared to dump the Mets if it came to fruition.

My mind was made up that I’d switch to the Red Sox (because Fenway is the same distance from me as Citifield and I love Fenway) and only switch back if the team was sold to someone else.

    Luckily, it didn’t happen.

Had it happened and I jumped ship, I would not consider myself disloyal, given the context.

Becoming a fan of another team, I get that. Becoming a diehard fan of another team is still weird for me regardless of the situation. Are you saying youd become a true diehard fan of the Red Sox, then if Mets have a new owner, flip flop and go back to being a true diehard Mets fan again??

It really is a nothingburger. It was weird when I saw it happen the first time in a college game, but then I figured out what was going on.

The Bills have consistently benefited from teams having to start short of the 25. Bass is an expert at kicking inside the 5. This will definitely affect us in a negative way!

I don’t think it’s “scummy” to provide a well-rounded view of someone.  There are many, many people in history considered to be “great” who also struggled with their own demons.  It’s human nature.

We should all understand that humans are complex, multi-faceted beings.  It’s ok to recognize all of Jim Brown’s legendary greatness while also acknowledging his struggles.

Back on point — my dad always said Brown was the best player he’d ever seen.  I greatly respect that he used his fame in an effort to better the lives of others.

I responded to a person that made a post strictly highlighting Jim Browns shortcomings. They said nothing positive. They entered an RIP thread and made a point to highlight the negative things he's been involved in during his life.

These players are human. Let's say you passed away eball...and a thread was made to tell everyone. Then someone who knows your history comes in and makes a post saying how "eball was arrested for DWI when he was 23. He got caught cheating on his girl when he was 25. He got into a fight at a bar two different times. He was fired from one of his jobs for being late too many times"

You don't see what I mean??? What is the point of attacking a guys character when they're dead? You're intentionally trying to throw dirt on their memory and for what good reason? Jim Brown was very beloved and highly respected. He has done way more good than bad. Like not even close. Attacking someone like thats character after death comes across as scummy and haterish to me. It's not in good taste and is pointless. That my opinion.

Why? If its the truth its the truth.

After OJ dies, are we not supposed to talk about the murder of two people anymore?

No person is perfect. Our heros are not perfect people. They can still be revered for all they accomplish but death doesn't erase all aspects good and bad of their lives.

Bro if you don’t get why it would be in bad taste that if YOUR death was reported on this forum, and someone who knew you came in and posted about all your failures and mistakes you made in life, then I don’t know what to tell you. I would defend you in the same way. He is a human who has passed.

He also has done tons of great things while on this earth. He is one of the most overall accomplished pro athletes in history. Yet someone feels the need to come and highlight the negative aspects in his 87 years of life. Just not the time to do something like that. It’s in very poor taste.

Mr. Brown’s private life was tumultuous. In his 1989 memoir, “Out of Bounds,” he revealed that he often attended sex parties and had extramarital affairs. He was arrested at least seven times for assault, usually against women, including a 1968 incident in which he was accused of throwing a girlfriend off a second-story balcony.

His first marriage, to Sue James, ended in divorce in 1972. In 2002, he spent nearly four months in jail for using a shovel to shatter the windows of a car belonging to his second wife, Monique Gunthorp Brown, who was almost 40 years younger than Mr. Brown. They remained married after his release.

Trying to understand the point of posting stuff like this after the announcement of someone’s death. Very scummy thing to do.

  6. So we all know the issue with these SOS rankings. They're based on last season and with the strong parity the NFL consistently exhibits, it usually isnt very accurate. With that said, based on how good teams are currently perceived to be, we AGAIN have on of the toughest schedules.

    https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-strength-of-schedule-2023/

I for one LOVE a tough schedule. Who wants to skate their way into the playoffs and not be fully battle tested? Long gone are the days of hoping for an easy schedule just to end the drought. Now the fear is not being prepared enough and falling short to tough teams when it matters most. I am still hammering the OVER on the 10.5 win odds. 11-6 or better is a lock for me if we remain relatively healthy.

Would you guys prefer a tougher schedule, mid strength schedule, or easier schedule, and why?

Pretty much foregone conclusions with how the rookie wage scale is. Little reason for prolonged contract discussions unless one side is trying to screw the other and demand things that are unusual.

I hear that since we spent a 1st and 4th rounder on him he wants 1st plus 4th rounder money 😬

I believe it would have been a top 5 all time punt or something like that. ON HIS FIRST PUNT. So when he says "potential HOF" its not a BWHAHAHA moment.

No way should he give the Bills a second chance IMO. They caved.

Every team would have. I’m sure he realizes that. At least the Bills believed his story and still wanted to move forward. 100% of teams would have did what the Bills did after things became public.

But it was these accounts, the podcasters, these content creators that organized the online mafia mob.   They silenced all of us who cautioned patience and could have tempered the rage … they stoked it … for clout.

We can’t control a national narrative, but our local influencers can be above it.  Clearly, they’ve shown, they’re not.

Just about all of them cared more about how they would look to the masses if they didn’t take a stand against the young man, more than doing what was right. They all wanted to seem appalled and most went after the Bills for not cutting him soon as they found out as well as bashing the organization’s investigation and just assumed it was a failure when it was an absolute success.

  11. What about all the backlash the Bills got for knowing about the situation before the media and not cutting him immediately?

Turns out ol Beane was on point!

My opinion was wrong. Public opinion is often wrong. That’s why it should be illegal to release accused names before charges are filed.

Unfortunately Buffalo Stampede was in the majority. My record on where I stood was very clear. The fact that the story didn’t add up was enough for me to be willing to stand in that man’s corner until prof he did it came out.

claiming your friends were at a party the whole time you got raped then simply dropped you off at home after didn’t make any sense at all. So many other glaring holes as well and yet the masses wanted to crucify the kid. Didn’t make any sense to me.

I probably have 20 posts in that thread defending Araiza.

Beane and the Pegula’s needs to do the right thing and either cut Martin and sign Araiza or keep both on the roster and pay both of them. It’s their fault for caving to a crappy irrational fan base. They need to own up to that and make things right.

If we don’t make things right, then this team deserves the curse it will receive.

I wish you people will stop with this crap. We have a top notch punter signed for multiple years. There are 31 other teams. You’re acting like if the Bills don’t sign him he won’t play in the NFL. He will certainly be signed before camp.

The Bills and Araiza are well known to us.  This happens too often in the victim manufacturing, virtue signaling, kabuki dance we call social justice.   Title IX and due process.  Universities and legislators created a kangaroo court system to provide outcomes legitimate courts weren’t so that the statistics of sexual assault theorists could be “correct”.   “Believe all women” is a slogan so absurd that it should be challenged at every utterance.  It isn’t.   Mothers, don’t let your sons grow up to be … college students.  Fear no words.  Speak plainly.  My sympathy is reserved for the dozens of Matt Araizas who didn’t have proof of innocence.   Imagine that, proof of innocence.

Preemptively, in light of the medium:  No, I am not saying believe no women.  No, I am not saying believe all men.  No, I am not saying my sympathy for the falsely accused exceeds my sympathy for the actually assaulted.  No, I am not saying … anything I didn’t say.   May Matt and the young lady, also troubled, find peace.

It’s should never be “Believe all woman” it should simply be to take all accusations seriously but at then end of the day, you need proof like any other crime. Simply telling a teary eyed story of what happened shouldn’t be enough for the type of public outcry received. Totally pathetic of our society. I keep hearing all the terrible things said about this innocent young man who was doing nothing but being your typical college star athlete. Shame on millions of people!

I think a key to this whole thing from a moral point of view is that the young girl was too drunk to give consent. I know a lot of people in a number of large athletic departments and they all mention this is taught to student athletes all year every year. I think a 17 year old telling multiple

people to “eff me now or you’re a *****” likely falls under that category. And as far as the room goes, any person is allowed to pull consent at any time. She has the right while getting double teamed to say no. And if those men don’t, that is assault.

My first thought reading the article is that this seems to directly challenge statements made by Araiza himself to the police.

I can certainly get behind the fact that everything doesn’t add up from her side. But I also don’t think this article absolves SDSU football or SDSU police what so ever.

As far as I am concerned my big take away is something’s don’t add up from Araiza, the young woman, and others. It isn’t that she wasn’t assaulted, it’s that there isn’t enough evidence to move forward.

🙄 People like you annoy me. That law is clearly situational! You have to use common sense here. Do you know how many college girls often get drunk before having sex? What about guys? You realistically consider all those young men and women rapists??? You’ve never had sex with a drunk woman? I’d venture to say more men have than haven’t at least once in their lives (let’s say by age of 40) Do you think most men are rapists? See how your logic is flawed.

Furthermore for there to have factually been lie after lie after lie uncovered that she told yet you still give her any benefit of the doubt is extremely disgusting. Your type is why innocent people get out in jail and lives ruined. Have some common sense man.

Oh crap. That's another thing I forgot about. Thanks for the refresher!

The girl was underage. So even if it was consensual, it read as a public admittance of statutory rape and perpetuating underage drinking.

There is no coverage in law for "well, he thought she was 18". Or "ya know, things happen in college, I'm sure a lot of players have done this and not gotten caught".

You speak so confidently but you’re clueless. It’s ABSOLUTELY legal in California when it can be proven that you thought she was 18 cause she told you that. This should be the law in every state. Most 17 years olds look just like 18 year olds and what college kids ask to see ID before sex. Only an idiot would think someone should go to jail and become a sex offender for life simply for having sex with a girl lying and claiming she’s grown while hanging out at college parties drinking and acting like all the rest of the college students.
