Schefter is pretty funny with the guys here (Bobby Carpenter and Anthony Rothman - a radio guy).  They do a weekly Wednesday spot with him and he doesn't really pull many punches when the guys here are off base.  The guys here said "the Bills love McCarron and could be fine letting things fall to them" and Schefter basically laughed at them, said McCarron is only here because there was no where else to go and said that's not what's going to happen.

He’s good people.  One of the best!

I fully expect the Dolphins to take Jackson at 12 if they don't trade up for Baker.

Schefter was very specific about the price for #2 ( #12 / #22 / 2019 1st and maybe one of the 2nds) today here in Columbus.  That's a win on the value chart for the Giants and a trade we can make without feeling like we sacrificed our future (or even present).  It's also very difficult for any other team to match.

There’s still a lot of uncertainty about the compensation, but if anyone knows, it’s definitely Sheft

Sorry, missed it - what exactly did he say what teams were up to? Was he hinting at something? Thanks!

Just that the Giants, he believes (and he’s well connected to them), are now turning towards QB and he knows that they’ve talked with the Browns about #1.  There was a little more he shared, but that was the main thesis.

You just don't punt on QB last year, come out and say your target is this year, acquire the picks we've acquired, trade Tyrod before FA opens, not even bid on Cousins or Keenum and play the waiting game on the last semi credible guy remaining if it's even a remote possibility you end up with Mason Rudolph at #12.

God I hope not.  Not a good look for these guys.  But Jackson at 12 is interesting.  But watch those Dolphins.  They’re up to something too.

The beaten down Bills fan in me believes that.  But people who know things keep saying we are trading up.  I think we end up picking at 2 or 4. It would not shock me if teams truly view Barkley as a transcendent player and he's either going 1 or 2.  If Barkley is gone before the Browns pick at 4, I think they shop the pick hard with 2 QBs still on the board and the best players (Nelson / Chubb) fitting spots they are actually good at.

    It's the Browns.  Stuff happens.

Nobody truly knows.  The Bills have done an AMAZING job keeping their intent hidden.  All anyone knows is something is brewing.  Shefty will be the one to break it though.  I believe that 100%.  He knows something, but never alludes without certainty.   But I’m telling you guys, something is definitely in the works.

Could you imagine Miami coming in and doing what the Jets did to move up for one of the QBs, when will NE get into the mix so we for sure would have all 6 gone before we move up or get nothing at 12. AFCE would be all set at QB for many years, except of course the Bills. What a off season, could end up a epic fail on the Bills after all this moving..

I couldn’t until today.  Watch those sneaky guys.

The Browns trade out of #1 and #2 and then take a RB at #4.

Wouldn’t have ever thought of it, until today.  Schefter himself said there are some “strange” things brewing with these teams.  Miami too.   They are also going to try something.

Browns would be idiots passing on Darnold and the Bills would be even more idiotic to trade all their picks only to choose a quarterback who sucks.

Not sure what the hell that has to do with being a joyful presence as a child. But you keep doing you.

It was Buffalo humor.  No offense intended at all.

Of course it doesn't.  With the 1st pick in the 2018 draft the Cleveland Browns select Sam Darnold, Quarterback USC.

    1. Giants - Darnold

    2. Bills - Rosen

    3. Jets - Allen

    4. Browns - Barkley

I would never have even guessed this until today.  I’m with you.  Cle is probably gonna take Darnold.  But the Giants seem genuine.

  9. Just now, BuffaloRush said:

This really make zero logic for Cleveland, unless they are dead set on landing Barkley and passing up Darnold.  This seems like a move the Browns of the past few years would make.  The problem is they would again, be passing on a QB.  I don’t think Dorsey would do it

Unless they like Allen or Mayfield just as much.

  10. Gotta love that Sal guy, am I right?

The Giants could trade to 1, to get him.  Then the Browns could ideally put #2 up for grabs. Whatever happens, there’s something brewing at 1 Bills.   These guys are definitely bracing for something it seems.

    3 minutes ago, 26CornerBlitz said:

Won't matter with the Browns taking his as the #1 pick.

I definitely feel like the Giants are swaying differently.  I think they’re split on Rosen, but don’t want the Jets to take him, for “blow back” reasons.  That would mean they believe the Browns would ideally deal #2, all but assuring a team has stepped up for Rosen.

i say this knowing nothing, just observing.  I could be WAY off the rez though

I don't think he's laughing about the concussion itself. His point was that this game occurred BEFORE the concussion. He's making fun of people who think that the concussion caused all of Trent's problems.

Yea, no chance.   Let’s just agree to disagree. I understand fans are passionate, but drawing humor from a pre-concussion symptom regarding someone who lives with serious brain damage....    we’re better than this.   Just sayin.

I am just surprised by how short-sighted people have become these days.

It's one thing to have an opinion on if you think someone will become a good player or not (that's fine), but to label players as busts, trash, etc. after one game or even one season is ridiculous. Why is there the old adage of not evaluating a draft until 3 years has passed, or the myth of the 3rd year WRs ready to bust out, etc. It is because 98% of the guys that come into this league need some development, need to get used to the speed of the game, etc. There are only a small group of guys that come into the league each year that ball out right away, and usually it is partly because they were drafted into a great situation.

Every job in this world takes time to learn. I don't care if you are a doctor or flipping burgers at McDs, first day on the job you aren't doing everything right, someone needs to show you the ropes, you need to gain experience doing it. This notion that players should come in and not make mistakes and light it up right away or they are a bust is truly baffling to me. In the old days, most fans recognized that it would take some time for rookies to come along and they were patient with them. Some of you guys would have sent Bruce Smith packing after one overweight, mediocre first season.

I don't know if Peterman will ever develop into a starting QB, probably not as the odds are against him, but none of us knows for sure. Why would you dump a 2nd year player on a rookie contract if just a few months ago (as a staff) you thought there was something there you could develop? Let's at least give these kids a chance to develop before calling for their heads. Because, ya know, It's a funny thing about humans...when they practice something they usually get better at it.

It’s a cruel world.  It’s much, MUCH more cruel if you’re a potential rookie QB, headed to Buffalo.   Peterman has his mettle tested, but I know he’ll rise above it.  I don’t think he’s done at all.

I keep asking this of people that are dead set against the guy: how much of him have you watched?

Quite a bit.   In person and film.

He's the same size as every guy I mentioned. Most of them are better athletes than him (better athletic tests, better forty times).

His arrm strength is outstanding, but it was the biggest plus for Josh Freeman, JP Losmand and Kyle Boller as well.

Kyle Boller could throw a football 80 yards as well. JP Losman and Freeman could also throw it a mile. Like Allen, the problem was they all had horrible accuracy.

Every year size, arm strength and athleticism coax scouts into ignoring the game tape, and every time they do they wind up picking a bust.

I didn’t see the guys you referenced, but agree that he’s eerily similar to Freeman and Boller.  You want those guys to make it, badly because their brand of talent is so rare.  But the tape doesn’t lie.   He has some serious bust potential

Rosen has the Best mechanics entering the league in a while. That should count for something. No need to sit him, he's ready now. The rest? Idk

Best mechanics, passing motion, arguably the nicest and fastest release, outstanding vision, understands progressions and stays incredibly cool under duress.   Great combo of arm strength and accuracy as well.   He just needs to prove the “iron-will” piece to teams and he’ll have a tremendous career ahead of him, in my opinion.

It's only wildly unpopular with several extremely vocal posters.  I would say based on casual observation that the board is almost split 50/50 between going up and adopting more or less a BPA available strategy.  In any event there seems to be only 100 active posters or so on a daily basis here so I would hate to think that OBD would go out of its way to please any one block of poster.

You are correct.  They have a non-fan/Analyst facing strategy and they are guarding it better than any previous regime.  They’re all in on their direction and regardless of what happens, it won’t please everyone.   Anyone who comes forward and says they know what Buffalo is doing is just speculating (poorly).  1 Bills is air tight, which tells me they are locked on to someone specifically.   But again, that’s strictly a guess on my part

He simply makes plays!! With arm or legs, he's a PLAYMAKER!!

He's IMPROVED every season under Petrino!! Check the stats!! Ask the "experts"!!

Improved stats don’t always equal improved mechanics.  It sometimes means that the coach is doing a good job building around their QB and masking difficiencies, as is (in my opinion) the case with Jackson.

Thanks for the reply.  I have said I'm not a big college fan and I am just getting to know these guys.

This is making more and more sense the more I see the QB's.

Maybe just a lot of "personal preference" on this board.

I can see why a lot of "experts" have him rated #1.

I have said that a few times lately myself.

I didn't believe a while ago but now I do believe Beane is doing everything within reason to get to #2.

Wow, this is going to be one heckuva draft.

There’s always a thick mist to consider when evaluating QBs, because there’s so much disinformation out there.  But this is a very special draft for some potentially big time difference makers to storm the league.  This is also the draft where I feel when we look back, it will have set at least one franchise back, considerably.  Looking at you, Jets!  I think their “Allen” Love is real.
