  1. Hey, I got one right, haha. I was looking at the remaining prospects last night and focused in on Shorter as someone the Bills would appear to like. Then I saw that they visited with him. His skill set really seems to suit their offense. They'll just have to hope he's able to stay healthy because his entire college career he dealt with injury and missed time every season.

Also, can't wait to hear the broadcast morons on gameday:

Jim: "And there's Shorter with the catch, and that's enough for a first down."

Tony: "And let me tell ya, Jim, shorter he isn't! This guy is a specimen!"

  2. I think I'm just looking forward to the inevitable meltdown some folks are gonna have no matter who the Bills draft.

Just remember, this stuff is supposed to be fun. If the names they announce next weekend make you wanna throw things and punch holes in the wall then maybe take a minute to ponder if football is, I dunno, your thing?

After that we'll round up the expert board analysis on Beane...who will surely have failed miserably at his job according to the message board savants of the world.

Who's that one player you really hope they don't pick? I hope they pick that guy.

  3. All I know is when McD has taken over the play calls periodically during his tenure here, it feels like the defense plays with a bit more of an edge. It also seems like he's more willing to take risks and call some more unique things.

I know it was out of necessity in 2020 when they had to switch things up defensively, but it looked like they were more in an attack mode rather than a "sit back and keep it in front of us" mode.

I think it's a needed change. Les Frazier is a great coach and the players love him. I just feel like he kind of hit his ceiling here. Didn't see a lot of different wrinkles or unique things from his defense over the years. And unfortunately, in the big moments, it really seems like he goes all deer in the headlights and things fall apart.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Sean can do. Should be interesting at the very least.

  4. I see there is a Jonathan Mingo in the draft this year. Reminds me of the other Mingo, Barkevious. Anyone remember that guy? I was collecting cards back then and this dude haunted dang near every pack I opened that year. "Ooh, I see a shiny one coming up, and it's....oh, it's a one out of 25 Barkevious Mingo...wheeee."

Basically, except for Tremaine Edmunds, not much is changed from this 13 and 3 team from last year

It’s kind of humorous to me to listen to some of them talk it’s like we were seven and nine

Lotta guys played hurt and it wasn't pretty at times but they won. Would I like to see Josh have some time back there and not have to take off scrambling after 0.8 seconds? Yeah, but I'm not gonna jump online and crap-talk the players or proclaim they should be cut or replaced.

It reminds me of this older fella I used to work with way back when. We would watch the Sabres games and every time a puck got past Ryan Miller he would be like, "He's a bum! Get him outta there!" And replace him with who, exactly? Players are in their spots because they are the best option on the team. It feels like a lot of fans find it so simple to just cut bait with any player at any time and just go out and pick up a guy who they expect to be ten times better than the previous guy. It's enough to make you wanna shmack your head against the wall. This stuff is supposed to be fun. Since the playoff loss it's like some folks here are on a crusade to try and make others believe this team is doodie. Bah.

  6. Get the OL squared away and he won't have to bail and run as soon as he gets the ball.

You don't remove that part of his game entirely, though. You can see how hyped the team gets when Josh runs for a big first down or leaps over a dude.

I mean I'm all for him protecting himself and running less, that's fine. But you also gotta find that balance where they're still letting him be him.

For what it's worth, both injuries he's dealt with in his NFL career happened in the pocket.

  7. I'm not one to sit here on an internet forum and respond to this with "Excuses!" like I know what the heck I'm talking about. Sit there with disdain and anger because your favorite team didn't do what you wanted them to do. Some of the reactions and comments from some people on this board have been absolutely repugnant and just absurd. I can't stand that s#it.

I said it in a different thread. They just picked the worst time to have their worst game. They're human beings and I don't blame them. I get no joy out of trying to figure out who's most to blame for their performance.

I guess I just really can't stand some of the crap people wanna dump on this team. It is far and away one of the finest eras of Buffalo Bills football in their entire history and some of you sit back, arms folded, seething as you watch them. I've never understood the angry fan. Some of y'all act like they've gone 2-14 (or 2-15, whichever) every year in the McDermott Era and also each player and coach has personally come thru to slap your mammy in the face.

I don't necessarily agree with everything they do but I'm not gonna get all wrapped up in it.

Stuff happens. They had a bad game. It's pretty clear now that they had all pretty much ran out of gas. I mean, it was a rough season. A psychopath shot up a grocery store before the season. They lose a team leader in Hyde in Week Two. Tre White struggles all year to get back and when he returns, he's rusty and a third of this board is ready to not only cut him but ensure he never, ever plays ball again in his life.

A frickin' blizzard cost them a home game. The monster free agent they brought was awesome until Ford Field went and bit his dang kneecaps off. Josh's elbow got bent the wrong frickin' way and they clearly had to adjust the offense much more than I think we know. Oh, also, a guy frickin' DIED on the field. Those dudes had to sit there helplessly as one of their brothers lay dead on the field with none of them knowing if he was gonna survive. Obviously we're all thankful that he did.

Yeah..."excuses." I understand that that's what it is in a factual sense. It just seems so disingenuous and cruel to know what this team went thru this season and brush it off like you're some hoity-toity retired All Pro who knows something and just shrugs and goes, "Mehh...excuses! Now fire everyone and listen to me on how to build a championship team. I've already done it 27 times on the internets and in Madden so get the heck out of what is now *my* office, Mr. Beane, and let me, Two Bills Drive Forum All-Star, to get the real work done."

    Ugh.

  8. I, like many others here, have never played a snap of professional football in my life.

However, like many others here, does that deter me from providing my expert analysis on David Quessenberry?!

    It sure doesn't!

I must be inclined to agree with the others. This fella...oooh, you don't want him seeing an NFL field. I know stuff! I also know things. Stuff and things together means I'm a GD expert.

What a bust! Beane you colossal butt-mongrel, you're doing this to personally irritate me aren't you? I knew it.

  9. Well....he's no Mike Tolbert. Is he even a Chris Ivory?!

Nah, I kid. McDermott certainly has a preference for a larger RB in the backfield, tho.

This dude has definitely had some moments. Cook, Hines, Harris, I'm good with that. I bet they still draft one...before, I said it'd be no later than fourth round but with this signing I'll say no later than sixth.

  10. Good luck to him. I'm a fan. He's not the biggest dude or the fastest but he had a knack for finding a crease and his contact balance is pretty top level of you ask me, one of his best traits.

I'm certain they're looking to the draft to round out their backfield for this season. I'd say the Beane Man picks a RB no later than round four.

  11. Tablet Wrangler. This be the future of the league and I'm the cutting frickin' edge! I can wrangle a tablet from thirty yards away. I've studied the physics of the tablet and can react to whichever way it'll bounce when thrown by a player or coach. I'm going pre-first round this year. That's right. It's such a coveted position there's a first round before the first round and I'm in it.
