If it costs 21M to get rid of a horrible HC and mediocre GM good! Money well spent. Now let's put all our support and good vibes into McDermott. Time to move forward....
-
I agree Shaw. This is a little premature. But we're all assuming Sammy doesn't reinjure something. And let's not forget that we haven't targeted Sammy near as much as we should've. This will be Sammy's final year to prove something to us or 31 other teams. Belichick is probably licking his chops.
-
This is a serious mistake. First big one of the McDermott era.
This essentially means he's gone after next year. If he catches balls for 1200 yards and the Bills go to the playoffs, they'll lose their #1 wide receiver. Why? Because if that happens the Bills will have to break the bank to keep Tyrod and they won't be able to match the offers Sammy will get elsewhere.
Never, never, never give up on talent too early. If you haven't special talent that isn't playing up to the level you'd like, keep trying, because you want to still own the player when his play catches up to his talent. Much better to waste a year on talent that doesn't come around than to give up a year too early.
Can you say MARSHAWN?

Giving Sammy that 5th year would've sent a nice message to him that we still believe in you and somehow you can turn this around. Maybe the pick itself still reminds the organization of Whaley. When healthy he's amazing. A true top 10 NFL wr. But you can't ignore his propensity for getting hurt. Maybe he'll shine this fall or maybe he shuts it down? Who knows. But EJ and Sammy dictated Whaley's legacy and I think we see the Pegulas and McDermott continue this culture change. Too bad cause I loved what Sammy could've done for us....

Optimistic about our future
Finish the culture change by firing Russ
McDermott was a very good hire
The Pegulas genuinely want this team to be special
Keep the 4-3 for good
The recent draft was decent
Peterman will surprise fans
If 2017 goes SOUTH quickly, tank and get Darnold for the next 15 yrs!

Good read.
The part about good ol' Rusty B. at the end really illustrates how bulletproof this guy is.
I would've fired Russ Brandon 10 years ago. Brandon doesn't care if the Bills ever win as long as he can continue selling sexy marketing cons down the throats of Bills fans....
-
That's not how I heard it. Snake oil had a very big part in the hiring of Rex.
No one turns on the charm like Russ.
The guy just looks like a con / scam artist. He's meddled in football affairs for years and has done nothing to help this team get better, let alone make the playoffs. How he hasn't be relieved of his duties years ago is beyond me.
-
Brandon doesn't influence football decisions, like Whaley was making roster decisions.

I really loved the Zay pick
I can live with a trade up for Zay Jones but not Dawkins. Love Peterman in the 5th. We'll see if White can replace Gilmore. We are getting some very good draft grades. We need healthy play from Lawson, Ragland and Sammy.
-
Too bad we couldn't find a way of snagging Obi. Oh well?
-
Kinda hard to grade players who haven't taken the test yet...
-
So now our team will be run by Russ Brandon Beane.

Way back in January I was intrigued by Peterman. During the Senior Bowl week and game he impressed. Most pundits said he was the only "NFL ready, behind center" guy. Threw early with anticipation. Threw open receivers, unlike TT. Very accurate. Kiper had him ranked better than Kizer, Webb, Dobbs and Kaaya. Who knows how he'll pan out but I'll guarantee you he beats out C Jones.
-
Nate and Cardale will compete for the #3 spot and CJ will be cut once the dust settles. This is a very good value pick and trust me Peterman will be our backup for years.
-
Same guy who beat the national champion Tigers...Mel Kiper had Peterman ranked higher than Kizer, Webb, Dobbs & Kaaya...
-
So far Zay and Nate are my favorite picks...getting Peterman this late is huge!
-
Not a bad get for this late in the draft
-
The only names I want to hear @ 44 is Obi, Juju, Zay or Budda in that order...and yes all 4 could be gone by 44?
-
If we don't find a way of picking Sam Darnold it will be 10 more years.
-
True. Might as well blow it on a 3 year CB each yer.
I mean Eff it, right?
Because 1st round cb's like McKelvin, Whitner and Gilmore did so much to vault us to the playoffs...White someday might be decent, but even if he is it won't guarantee we sign him 5 yrs from now. The trade down was great but the draft pick compensation was awful. A late 1st & late 3rd hardly justifies allowing a team to move up 17 slots for a qb....
-
traded down too far, missed out on a lot of good players 15-25, didn't get enough in return considering KC is a good team that will be picking at the end of the 1st next year. glad we traded back, wished it would have been for a 2nd rounder this year as well as a 1st next considering where KC typically picks or I wish it was with a team that picked earlier. houston will be terrible this year, the Browns might have 2 top 10 picks!
Completely agree. The trade should've involved a 2nd and next year's 1st. Plus it dropped us out of any shot at some of these top 25 players.
So does this mean that the priority now is for the Bills to tank this season so they get a higher pick to package with the KC pick to get a QB, or a high enough pick to get a QB with that pick? Or is the priority to make the playoffs and get a lower pick that may prevent them from moving up to get a top QB?
-
44 has to be Obi or Zay if they're there?
-
1. Obi
2. Foster
-
I'd settle for Obi but KC still owes us a 2nd...Whaley might be joining the scouts.

He basically will never be able to tackle leading with his helmet ever again. Love Aaron and wish him the best but I hope he knows what he's doing.
