The NFL actually tends to avoid those type of marquee openers as opening night typically gets huge ratings anyway. Why waste a Rams Bills or Chiefs Bills game that you could use week 10 and boost those ratings. My guess is the SB opener will probably be some in division matchup and if Rodgers really does go to DEN then DEN KC or KC LAC or Rams SF

I mean the NFC north is gonna be out Rodgers sooo those QBs all are not anything special, AFC North has Burrow/Lamar but PIT/CLE do not have QBs that inspire fear, Jets and Phins are nothing special at QB. To me this year is easier on paper QB wise then the prior two.

i don’t know if it is straight up inspiring fear.

I think Buffalo Defense has trouble with ANY QB who actually is the teams actual starting QB with entrenchment.

Is Dick Jauron replacing McClappy or something?

    No.  😂.

but barring injuries…the Era of McDermott and his Defense getting fat off Rookie and 3rd String QBs Is over.  Which I believe McDermott was 9-2 against Rookies/Back-Ups in 2021.

Going to have to put in the time and effort it appears in 2022.

I think that Crytpo contest commercial should be the prototype for future Allen ad campaigns.

Regular, humble, goofy guy who happens to effortlessly launch a ball 80 yards. It's charming and the country will like it a lot more than those awful West Herr "smile and hold a football" commercials.

    That’s very good idea too.

The effortless savant.  That could be very funny.  Wow!

    New koolade man?

    Omg!

    that would be amazing!

No matter what room Allen enters…instead of using the door he just goes through the wall.

And seems clueless about what a door is.

And then in future ads he can be at a college campus learning about how to use a door.  History of the door … BUT he keeps on going thru the walls.

  5. For Allen, they should really play into what Poyer said when mic’d up.

    Goofy.

He’s big, he’s loud, he’s clutzy, he’s adorable dumb, goofy.

Basically…Allen is the Andy Dwyer of Parks and Rec come to life.

Got to be able to make fun of yourself.

Mayfield is probably the best “Actor” of any NFL Player since Romo.  Maybe Manning in a few of those SNL Skits.

Rodgers and Mahomes are decent (but they are playing that ‘I don’t get the State Farm rate’ gimmick way too much).

I think him being the comedic relief of a spot where his bulldozer style of playing football comes across as whatever character they have him play.

  6. In 2020…it took a whole 30 minutes before McVay figured out Fraizer/McDermott defnese and poured on 29 points in the 2nd Half.

With Akers back giving RAMS a deadly balance of run AND pass that would force Bills defenders to think and not just react…Cupp playing at MVP level and Stafford now pulling trigger…

no doubt RAMS would have opportunity to roll up 35-45 points on Bills Defense.

it would have taken another Hero Game from Allen and the O-Line Not caving under the pressure of Darnold and Miller.

I probably would have taken the Rams to win at home

    Bills - 27

    Rams - 41

  7. I tell ya…(funny just talking about this game in another post)

    Super Bowl 27

    Cowboys - 52

    Bills -17

I was 10 years old.  I had went to the Greatest Comeback Game Just a few weeks prior.

Bills were making history in epic fashion as a Wild Card Team…and doing it with Kelly Injured.

I bought in to “Team of Destiny” based on how that playoff season went.  It was MEANT TO BE.

And then to show up at the Rose Bowl…and just get Slaughtered like that.  Pulverized AND Kelly got hurt again.

that whole magical playoff run to end in that way was just horrible.  They didn’t even belong on the same field with Dallas that day.

You knew…everyone knew…they owned the Bills and they were helpless to do anything.

    😞

  8. I’m expecting Fitz to announce his retirement.

Hip Subluxation that required season ending Artho Hip Surgery at 39 (to which he would turn 40 during season).

I think one of the reasons Washington was so cool with him showing up to the patriots playoff game is because he’s told them he’s not coming back.  Not to Washington and probably not to the league.

  9. Isn’t football just just incredible?!

    12 months of planning.

    18 Hour Days

    7 Days A week

you ignore your kids, ignore your spouse

all in this Alpha Dog mentality to win at all costs.

    and then …

a tight end (best in game mind you) says “huh…the seam is open.”

and the all that planning and prep comes down to #15 screaming “do it do it do it”

    Sports…man.

This is pretty logical, but you have to look at the AFCN teams too.  I think Pittsburgh will have to make a very bold and expensive move to bring in a QB. and it's not clear the Colts are set with Wentz.  The Browns keep adding shiny expensive toys sprinkled around their lineup but the downside is lots of guys not good enough to be competitive -- and Mayfield might be out, and the Browns really miss another top receivers.  So the Bengals to me are the AFCN favorites going in, and with their schedule, 13-4 doesn't seem out of reach.

Don’t sleep on the Ravens playing with a chip after they had 97% of their players put on IR in 2021.

And it did work in the short term. They never went back though. They went ALL IN. They then spent 10 years in the wilderness. Look I think we'd all take that to finally win a Lombardi but this is different because McKay and Dungy were not tied at the hip in the way Beane and McDermott are.

True.  Not sure I totally love the idea of the GM being indebted to HC for having a job.

    in any situation.

  12. Tony Dungy - 6 Seasons, 54-42 (2-4 in Playoffs)

    Sean McDermott - 5 Seasons, 49-32 (3-4 in Playoffs)

I always think about Dungy and The Bucs when ANY Team is winning but NOT WINNING in the Big Games.  And thinking about how Tampa made that decision to just go for the Prize by firing Dungy and getting Gruden and in 1 Season, be Super Bowl Champions.

    Just idle thoughts.

  13. When Coach McDermott says, “I hope you can appreciate why I won’t go into details about who did what in the final 00:13”

oh to live in a real world where a fan…errrrr “journalist” would simply say, “no.  We can’t appreciate it.”

sigh…too bad…but when you have journalists (fans) who feel they are somehow part of the team…just don’t get that.

  14. Music City was a stronger gut punch…because it all happened/fell apart on 1 play and then the game was basically over…season over.  Snap of fingers it was done with literally no understanding how it happened and how, could it happen.

Whereas last night was sort of a slow blood drain.  Once they won coin toss.  My phone started lighting up with friends/fans who in their mind “knew” it was going to be over.  So I guess last night you could at least prepare for the loss.
