That's not true. It's settled by a naked steel cage match among the respective team GMs.

    I forgot all about that...

pretty much because I couldn’t get the picture of Whaley wrestling in the nude out of my mind ?

Hmmm.  Well, you know your film...it's been my impression, certainly of recent years, that Brady is living on quick release, and vulnerable if he can't.

Now I really should go watch some film and see what I'm missing....maybe that's why I think Dante Scarnecchia always puts a fantastic OL together out of baling wire and twine, because Brady is manipulating the pocket?

...but that would mean watching Brady....

    Naaaah.

Can't give Brady better though.  Brees is King IMO.

and I could be wrong again, but while Brees had pretty footwork and pocket sense at Purdue, I don't think Brady came into the league with it.  Apparently it can be learned.

Brady is really the anomaly... he was never a full time college starter , battled a 5* recruit And was scrawny... he was smooth and accurate but that’s all

its a testament that hard work and dedication Can do anything

As for Brady and Brees they are probably 1a 1b for pocket awareness and pocket maneuverability... they both do it a bit differently

Brees is known for long drop backs giving him a little more time while Brady is a fan of shorter drops to get the ball out

but it doesn’t change that they both have eyes in The back of their heads and they both make dlineman look silly in the pocket

and you are right Brees has always had fantastic feet since Purdue

here is a good SI article talking about how they are wizards in the pocket

There's no way eating 74 hotdogs in 10 minutes could be even remotely good for you.  But he's still alive and wins pretty much every year.

Andddddd you have to train for these events...

so he is consuming dozens and dozens and dozens of hotdogs regularly

Me too on the Revolutionary soldier ancestry.  I also have kin who emigrated to America much more recently

And on that note, I'd like to share little ditty,  written by a non-Christian immigrant to the US 100 years ago, and performed as an unofficial "second American anthem" for the past 80 years

    Same

I have some on my fathers side who fought in the revolution. My great great great great great grandfather was named a General by Washington , was at Valley Forge , and saved Washington’s life in battle... he died in action at the battle of Savannah

the rest of my family on my mother’s side all came from Germany in 1930

Just to point out if a QB can read and react quickly, and the offense is properly schemed to create likely initial mismatches, that drastically decreases the need for the QB to buy time sliding around.

Brady, it seems to me, has the mobility of a busted mower in high grass, and makes his living by knowing at the snap where the mismatch is likely to be and getting the ball out there before the D can get him.  Wasn't Peyton Manning another relatively immobile QB who relied upon his extraordinary ability to read the D and find the open guy fast?

Rodgers, it seems to me, needs to be mobile because the offense McCarthy runs relies on buying time for coverage breakdowns - of which there have been fewer of recent years under Edgar Bennett as nominal OC.  It will be interesting to see what happens with the return of Joe Philbin as OC, but anyway, the Pack under McCarthy with Rodgers at QB has relied upon his ability to extend the play and buy time, then spot the coverage breakdown and exploit it.

I guess my point is that Rodgers is extraordinary with his ability to evade pressure in the pocket - I don't think a young QB's inability to move like Rodgers makes that young QB automatically a second-tier manager type.

Brady moves exceptionally well in the pocket. Probably as good or better than any QB since Namath at manipulating the pocket

and that was my point about being able to move inside or outside the pocket... you need to be able to do atleast 1 well to succeed

Brady is a savant In the pocket

Rosen isn’t great at mucking through deep water in the pocket yet, and he isn’t good outside the pocket , that was my point

I did say he can be a Matt Ryan type

I'm getting ready to leave for the 4th of July Celebration at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.

    Food, Drink and Music!

Colorado Springs Philharmonic headlines the event and culminates with the playing of "The 1812 Overture" just as the fireworks begin.

One great thing is that for the "cannon sounds" of the Overture a battery of artillery is brought in from Fort Carson.

The guns going off can be felt in your chest.

Hope you all have a great 4th, and "Down with King George"!

...LMAO!.....but I still think it's fair to acknowledge Tebow's supreme effort to make it a career.......hard to find someone who parallels his work ethic.......guy spent thousands on personal trainers, etc to try to make it....and he washed out......so now he launches his new career attempt in baseball with the same perseverance and work ethic......yet the haters STILL continue to hate..."only in baseball because of his name....guy sucks....screw him and his Christian values.....yada yada".....pretty sure he just made the Mets Double A league all-star team......ONLY because of his name and as a marketing toy....go figure......

I’m rooting for Tebow to make the Mets eventually

cant knock his work ethic and drive

..184% in agreement my friend...pretty sad commentary when some of TBD's hi-chair beating children (thank God for seatbelts) brand you as racist or un-American because you assess his football skill set without giving a rat's azz about his politics or stance.......all I care about is what a guy can CONSISTENTLY do "between the white stripes"....SMH....

Yup and Tebow is out of the league because he can’t throw a football either

maybe he should try throwing with his right hand ?

  9. Just now, OldTimeAFLGuy said:

...isn't fair to say there are or have been plenty of distractions in this league?.......

    TO-distraction but damn good

    Randy Moss-ditto

    OBJ-see above

Incognito-Miami mess cost him $2+ mil when "unofficially blackballed" for a year; gets another chance with OBD and redeems himself for 3 years as top guard

...common denominator IMO is that all were pretty damn good at their craft despite distractions....Kaep was not a consistently good football player.....RG II 1/8 was not a consistently good football player yet him and "Daddy RG" were always lookin' for the limelight to yap.....consistently good despite distractions would have them employed, which RG II 1/8 IS astonishingly on the Ravens roster........

That was my point bud ?

sure Kaep is good enough to be a backup but all the distractions he causes aren’t worth his  talent level

he isn’t as talented as Randy Moss or TO or OBJ

not even close, so he hits the bricks

  10. Kaepernick also played in the mountain west like Allen, but in a spread pistol offense.. and there completion % are similar

    he completed 53.8%

    54.3%

    58.9%

And then finally 64.9 as a senior

    for a career 58.2

All while playing in a gimmicky offense and playing on a better team than Allen

Kaep is good enough to be in the league but the distraction he brings isnt worth his talent

    He isn’t Randy Moss talented

  11. Rosen has a more finely tuned arm today than Allen but he lacks very much in mobility

you need to be able to slide around the pocket and buy time in The NFL, and that was  Rosen’s biggest flaw

he can’t create and take hits... I used to think he could maybe be like Rodgers but Rodgers is an extraordinary athlete and can move in the NFL

Rosen can’t do that so he is more likely a Matt Ryan (if he can progress a lot ) or a Trent Dilfer manager type

Yeah, Beane has killed it with his offensive player evaluations so far! Jordan Matthews! Broken Kelvin Benjamin! $3 million for an aging and slow rb!

You do realize 3 million for a veteran RB isn’t that much and it is really 2.75 million

you do know that James White a career backup makes 4 million per...

    Theo Riddick makes 3.75 million

Ex Bills backup Gillislee makes 3.2 million

Corey Grant the backup on Jacksonville makes 2.9 million

We really aren’t overpaying for ivory, he is making backup money

That loss alone, at that stage of the season, kept the Pack from getting home field advantage all the way through the NFC playoffs, and maybe cost them a Super Bowl appearance.

I would have loved to have seen that Packers team take on the Pats in the SB...and possible erase from history the interception at the goal line.

On top of that the Pack has also never won a game at Rich Stadium, The Ralph or New ERA Field.

Impressively enough all 3 are the same stadiums ?

It is true that concussions are different for differnent players......your willing to gamble your franchise on that?

Meanwhile......Josh's shoulder injure was well handled and he does not appear to have any lingering effects from it....if he did that throwing shoulder would not be as strong as it is.

Baker had the concussion......ONE concussion.   Rosen has had multiple concussions.

Again I agree, im just laying out both sides

and Baker actually has 2 concussions in a span of 1 month

VS TCU in november of 15

    then Clemson December of 15

but I agree Allen is healthy

So much potential with this last draft......hope it ends up being great.

The difference between Josh Allen's injuries is they were repairable.......concussions are not.

Some people do not suffer any long term or short term effects after a concussion heals

it all depends on the person and severity of concussion

also shoulder injuries can linger like a Andrew Lucks...

yea concussions are worse but I wouldn’t have drafted Allen just because he never had a concussion... I would draft him cus he’s better

Baker had a concussion as well and nobody mentions that and says he might be damaged

Agreed but like several posters have pointed out concussions are not good. Once you have one the likelihood of subsequent concussions increases dramatically. I'm happy that we're gambling on a guy with a shoulder injury in his past rather than the guy with multiple concussions.

    Image result for concussion gif

Just to make sure that I understand your premise -  whenever anything good happened we just got lucky - Does that sum up your point correctly?

    Oh I don’t disagree there

i was just pointing out that Allen has suffered  injuries as well

as someone who has suffered From 10 concussions in my 15 years of football I understand how much they suck
