  1. Well we can start with 5 wins optimistically .. 2 vs. Dolphins .. 2 vs. Jets .. split with Pats in division.

    Road Games  (non conference) - Win at Colts

    Home Games .. we were 6-2 last year .. (non conference) - Wins against Jags (revenge game), Bears, Lions (dome team outdoors .. hope late in season).

    So that gets us to 9 .. if we get swept by NE .. then 8 wins

    If a QB shows up (McCarron or draft pick) .. then coin flips with Chargers (at home), Titans (at home)

    Low prediction 7-9 ... high prediction 10-6 for 2018.  Again depending on QB and Tom Brady's eventual downfall.... only higher in 2019

  2. All this rhetoric revolves around one thing ... all Bills fans are tired of mediocre play at the QB position since Kelly ... 3 years of Tyrod's declining stats .. just see his QBR .. we all want a passer back there that can look beyond the first read .. throw to windows with anticipation .. and lead a team back in the 4th quarter .. all things we haven't seen in years.  I see all the attacks on Maryland Bills Fan ... reminds me of the start of Animal House ... with Flounder on the slidescreen ... where the beer cans get thrown ... "Let me tell you a story of another loser" ... we all thought the Stork was braindead.

    The guy threw out (though with typos a plenty) ... many teams with QB's we'd prefer to have (sans Kiser and maybe Tannehill) ... but hasn't translated to wins .. now as other posters have said ... those teams have other major flaws ... hence they drafting ahead of us ... so maybe .. just maybe .. we have more pieces than they do .. (secondary, RB, OL) .. .so let's get our damn passer and fill a few more holes in this draft .. and trust the process.

  3. There is a happy medium here .. I hope ... in the way the draft unfolds ... move into picks 6-9 and get a quality QB ... right now we have 4 guys and no one has separated themselves from one another depending on which pundant you listen too (Darnold, Mayfield, Rosen, Allen) ... you have to figure Chubb and Barkley get taken in the top 5 picks .. so one of those guys has to drop to 6 or later.

    Plus, we've got a huge cap surplas next year....we can be very pro-active in FA then.

    I'm with you as I love having the picks .. that said ... name a FA QB who switched teams that made impact ... doesn't typically happen (Drew Brees only HOF example I can think of ... Farve was well beyond his prime when he was jumping teams) ..  you use FA and cap space to fill other holes .. but teams don't let what they believe to be QBs in their prime go ... now Cousins may be an exception .. but let's see what happens ... Garapolo was a trade so doesn;'t count in this opinion ... but RG III, dating myself but Scott Mitchell, Donovan McNabb.  Now you have you 2nd tier QB's Delhomme, Brad Johnson, Rich Gannon, but again .. those aren't going to Canton.

    Trade to 5-8 and don't use the farm beyond that.

  5. I want Baker ... but don't trade up beyond #6 to get him if he drops . .which I doubt  ..... if he's gone we have AJ ... see his college stats in a stacked SEC vs. this years draft class .. and come back in 2nd/3rd for Rudolph, Falk, White, etc.

  6. Let me be clear .... I want Mayfield of any of these QBs ... .but I'm going to go with the no trade up scenario as I don't want to go Ditka to go into the top 5, but would love to trade up for Mayfield in the 7-9 range .. but think it is unlikely.

    #12 - Tremaine Edmunds - LB Va Tech (McD .. .needs a stud LB for his defense ala Kechly)

    #22 - Maurice Hurst - DT Mich (Williams replacement)

    #53 - DJ Chalk - WR LSU (best speed/size WR in draft)

    #56 - Rudolph if drops . .if not Falk - QB

    #65 - Billy Price - C (hoping he drops due to injury)

    #96 - Kalen Ballage - RB .. just pull his tape from Sr. Bowl .. wrecking ball and can catch ball out of backfield

    #121 - Chase Litton - QB Marshall ... (I'm all for drafting two mid tier QBs) ... plus wife went to Marshall ... homer pick

    #166 - flyer .. here WR from Purdue Anthony Mahoungou ... check out the game vs Iowa and the Bowl game ..late bloomer

    Leave the rest to Beane

  7. If you're grading the Bills against the rest of the league .... my grade is incomplete ... until the 2018 1st rounder is picked which we received from the Chiefs (though is/will be repackaged) .. that said .. .compared to past Bills drafts ... A+++++ ... granted kind of like the tallest midget award given past draft history (see below) for draft hell history  ... but a stud CB, a starting LT in 2017 ... works for me compared to below.

    Beane should be fired on the spot if he let the Jets and then the Patriots move ahead of him to select a QB and we are stuck at 12

    Would be a complete disaster of a draft. Idc how many picks we have, a middle LB is not going to win you a Superbowl.

    A GM should be fired because of what other teams do ... wow ... holy job security .. so beyond his picking of Bills personnel .. he has to react to the other teams.

  9. Put all these elements together, and Mayfield has the fourth-highest QBASE projection of any prospect since 1997. The only players projected higher were Philip Rivers, Carson Palmer, and Donovan McNabb. Here are the top 10 prospects since 1997 based on the current formula:

    Top QBASE Projections, 1997-2017
    Player QBASE
    Philip Rivers 1964
    Carson Palmer 1916
    Donovan McNabb 1799
    Baker Mayfield 1480
    Russell Wilson 1288
    Peyton Manning 1279
    Marcus Mariota 1277
    Byron Leftwich 1216
    Aaron Rodgers 1216
    Ben Roethlisberger 1211

    None of this is a guarantee that Mayfield is going to be a star in the NFL. Just below the QBASE top ten are prospects who didn't pan out, including John Beck, Matt Leinart, and Christian Ponder. But based on his college performance, Mayfield has the best odds of any quarterback in this class of being an elite starter in the NFL, and the lowest odds of being a bust.

    DAMN .. Let's get Baker!!!

    What does his Wonderlic score have to do with his play or what do the scores of Rudolph or Allen have to do with their play?

    Jackson won the Heisnan and was a finalist to win it again this past season.  I did not see 99% of the other QBs in the draft up for the award.  Jackson impacted games with his arm and his legs against a higher level of competition than Allen and in profoundly more dynamic ways than Rudolph.  He's not my first choice, but I keep seeing some twist themselves in knots trying to discredit Jackson with misinformation or irrelevant information.  It's actually weird.

    You know nothing of any of their intellects.  You know what they scored on a test of random information; The scores do not make one intelligent per se or indicate any savvy in navigating a football field or life in general.  Go get Fitz out of Tampa Bay.  He scored 48 on the almighty Wonderlic.  All those facts made his play so much better when he played for the Bills three teams ago. ?

    Check this out .. granted a couple of years old ... but kind of tells a lot I think in terms of scores for the position  ... Jackson's score doesn't help him when compared to below.  Didn't know Tyrod's score till I pulled this.  Not sure if connected ... but could illustrate why he couldn't see beyond the first receiver in a progression?

  11. Bravo ... great work Bandit ... finally a comprehensive overview ... the big question is who of the top 4 will drop and can we grab them .. based on above .. I'm good with any of the top 4 .. noting Darnold is probably gone .. seems likes its a battle between Mayfield and Allen for us ... unless we trade up to 2 . .which I'm not a fan of.

    Fact: we have never picked a QB with our 1st pick

    Fact: we have never picked a QB in the top 10

    Fact: most of the successful QB's come from a team using their first pick in the top 10 picks of the draft

    This pretty much sums up the entire mediocre existence of the Buffalo Bills franchise

    As it relates to Fact # 1 .. please see the 2013 Bills draft .. EJ Manuel at pick 16 was our first pick in the 2013 draft

  14. Full disclosure purposes .. I was double thumbs up for the Zay pick last year as my daughter goes to ECU and I saw many of his games ... so given the longer history than most on this board ... I wish him the best first and foremost ... you go from watching the Sabres (his first hockey game) and selling season tickets at OBD in the past few weeks  ... to this .. that was truly a bad scene and obviously some form of hallucination drug enhanced ... him getting better is the most important .. but this event is obviously a 1-4 game suspension issue per the NFL code of conduct policy correct?

    This may certainly have influence on the pick priorities come draft time.

    I has kind of crystallised in my mind now as:

    Plan A - get to #2 and get Josh Rosen

    Plan B - get to #4 and get Baker Mayfield (I think the Jets are going to take Josh Allen)

    Plan C - BPA or trade back at 12 and take Mason Rudolph at #22.

    That is what I would do not necessarily what I think the Bills will do.

    I like Plan B .. but hoping we don't have to go to 4 ... guessing you think Broncos would take Mayfield at 5 .. if he gets by that .. then the next couple teams don't need QB .. so maybe we don't have to trade as much to get Mayfield .... I'm in the get Mayfield (at a fair price camp .. meaning not trading the world) ... or fall back to Rudolph and take Davenport at 12 as I don't think Roquan will be there

  16. 23 hours ago, GunnerBill said:

    A lot of people really don't seem to like him and see no way that teams will see him as a 1st or high 2nd round pick.  I don't agree with those people, I think he is better than they do and I think that he will be of interest - especially to the teams who still have an older franchise QB who are looking for a guy to try and groom behind them.  I'd be fine with Rudolph at #22 if the Bills can't get up for Rosen.  I think that is high end of his value but I would not be saying the Bills shouldn't touch him.  I'd be more comfortable with Rudolph at #22 than either Jackson or Allen at #12.  I actually think the Bills have some interest as well but he is probably the fall back only option for them.  I think the Steelers fit is probably the best one for him though.

    So Gunner ... if you were Beane .. are you sitting tight and go Rudolph at 22?  Where do you stand on jumping the jets and going to 2 or waiting a maybe a smaller trade up from 12?

    Here is what is awesome about this year = it's just this draft. At most we may have to give up a 2 next year. The stars are actually aligned very well for this year with these picks

    Rd1 = 12, 22

    RD2  = 53, 56

    RD3 = 65, 96

    RD4 =121,

    RD5= 155, 158

    This is what makes it more or less special this year, the ammo is there and we can have really a full draft next year & $100 in cap space. This is the year to go big actually. If it doesn't work, its really 1 year during a tear down and you will be in the same boat of having to look for one. If it hits, QB is solved and man next off season is awesome....

    MMQB article this AM .. indicates there from a GM . there are 70 starter ready players in this draft ... so imagine if we hit .. 5 new starters in our draft ... LB, OL,RB,  WR, DT (not necessarily in that order), .. plus McCarron, Star, Vontae, and Trent .. that's 9 starters added to last year's playoff team ... I'll take that.
