Yeah there are two schools of thought on this game, and neither is wrong. It IS natural for a team to have a let down after emotional wins. It isn't just Bills. Most teams do this.
And that's where REALLY GOOD coaching comes in. This is the MENTAL & EMOTIONAL aspect of a team's preparation. Does McDermott have the ability to keep a team on an even keel after wins or losses. Does he motivate well. So this isn't even about win or loss. This is a test of McDermott's ability as a coach on the mental and emotional preparation of a team. In my opinion, that's what every championship winning coaches possess - that ability to prepare them emotionally and mentally. This is WHY BILLS LOST THE LAST 3 SUPERBOWLS they were in. Mental and emotional preparation was crap.
Right now, the entire team has bought into him as a coach. He's the undisputed conductor in every Bills' mind. Let's see how he wields that wand.
It ISN'T the result that matters in this game. It is the consistency of EFFORT in every phase of the game that matters. I want to see both players and coaches show up for this game. If they lost despite a good effort, and good game planning, it's a win IMO. That's the quality of a coach that can bring a championship.
If they lost because players were lethargic or play calling / game planning was predictable or lousy, then that's a tell on McDermott as a coach - he didn't prepare them mentally and emotionally despite having their full attention. This game is more about McDermott than anything else.
