..is it just me my friend, or has it been a long time since we have had this much talent (yes on paper so far) heading to camp within the 90 body count?.....hell we're talking about tough choices to get to the final 53 and how some formidable talent may be in the 37 cuts..am I clueless (usually am)??......

It's been far too long.  I love what the Bills have done this offseason & am pretty convinced that we're heading in the right direction.  It feels weird to say that.

...thinking we have a pretty formidable talent pool of 90 to work through now and there will be some significant talent in the 37 let go...grass ain't always greener IMO.....

Agreed.  I think our roster is past the point where we need to chase every player we've heard of.

  4. The title of this thread led me to believe that AJ McCarron would be announcing our 5th round pick.  That would be newsworthy.

Let's see if McCarron can generate draft action like Matt Cassel, who accounted for Bills' picks in 3 straight drafts:

    • 2015 draft:  No. 137: Buffalo → Minnesota (PD). Buffalo traded this selection and their seventh round selection in 2016 (240th) to Minnesota in exchange for quarterback Matt Cassel and...
    • 2016 draft: ...Minnesota's sixth round selection (187th)
    • 2017 draft:  No. 171: Dallas → Buffalo (PD). Dallas traded a fifth-round selection to Buffalo in exchange for Buffalo's seventh-round selection and quarterback Matt Cassel

And with that #171 pick, the Bills selected... Nathan Peterman.

  5. Not surprising that Whaley didn't expect a QB; he was from the school of thought that you don't draft a QB until you absolutely have to.  He may have expected them to take a WR, but Davis & Williams were already off the board and the next WR taken was Zay Jones.

  6. Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said Leonard Fournette will not face any team discipline stemming from his arrest last week.

Fournette was arrested in Jacksonville for speeding and "knowingly driving with a suspended license." Marrone called the situation a mistake and added he was arrested for a similar offense when he was younger. The incident was a concern given Fournette's seemingly strained relationship with the organization, but the Jaguars are content to let it blow over.

I hope so.  I thought it was  a mistake when we didn't pick up Sammy Watkins option year and I think this would be a similar mistake.  I have a hunch that Shaq could get traded either at the draft or shortly after. Not picking up his option will further reduce his trade value I really like him and think he's about to blossom into a really good player.

If the mistake of not picking up Sammy's 5th year option is the measuring stick, then I hope McBeane didn't learn from that mistake.

The guy was universally considered a first round talent, and was even considered to have fallen in the draft.  Lets not act like it was an absurd pick at the time.

And how in the world is he a bust?  Bust means washed out of the NFL or doesn't get a second contract.  Shaq may not be a star, but he certainly isn't a bust.

I believe the teams who passed on Shaq thought he would need surgery, and Whaley was confident he wouldn't.  As was typical during the Levy/Brandon/Nix/Whaley regime, the Bills were not proven to be the smartest guys in the room on that day.

Did ATL just gift us their second round pick?  If so, that was right hospitable of them.

Wouldn't it be nice if teams made charitable donations like that on draft day?  IIRC, I traded #9 to ATL for their 1st & 2nd, then traded that 1st to WAS for their 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.

How many rookies going to make the team ?

In a world where UDFAs make the team, why shouldn't all of our draft picks?

    • DK Metcalf isn't the first WR drafted
    • The Jets draft an OT in the 1st (probably after trading back a few spots)
    • Ed Oliver goes in the top 6
    • Devin Bush goes before Devin White
    • Darrell Henderson is the 2nd RB drafted
    • The Lions and/or Dolphins draft a Rutgers CB that Belichick wanted
    • The Bills pass on Fant or Irv Smith to draft Jace Sternberger, causing this board to collapse into itself & vanish without a trace

I heard they had a actual jail in the basement...or maybe that was the old Giant stadium? But yes..Veterans had the worst field in those days and they had massive seams on the turf to cover up where the base areas were (Phillies).

Not only did the Vet have a jail, it also had a courtroom.  Unruly drunks were given due process before they even had a chance to sober up.

  10. I question the math that grades this a B+:

Your score is: 30252 (GRADE: B+)
    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 15 (WASH): Devin White, ILB/OLB, LSU (A)
Round 2 Pick 8: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Miss. State (A)
Round 2 Pick 13 (ATL): Dalton Risner, OT/OG, Kansas St. (A)
Round 2 Pick 14 (WASH): Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa St. (A)
Round 3 Pick 10: Lonnie Johnson, CB, Kentucky (A-)
Round 3 Pick 19 (PITT): Devin Singletary, RB, FAU (A)
Round 4 Pick 10: Jachai Polite, DE, Florida (A+)
Round 4 Pick 20 (PITT): Dru Samia, OG, Oklahoma (A)
Round 4 Pick 29: Ross Pierschbacher, OG, Alabama (A+)
    Round 5 Pick 9: Lamont Gaillard, C, Georgia (A)
Round 5 Pick 20: Drew Sample, TE, Washington (A+)
Round 6 Pick 8: Stanley Morgan Jr, WR, Nebraska (A+)
Round 6 Pick 19 (PITT): Cameron Smith, ILB, USC (A)
Round 7 Pick 11: Will Harris, FS/SS, Boston College (A+)
Round 7 Pick 14: Blessuan Austin, CB, Rutgers (A)

I did another draft for the Raiders in which the Bills moved up to #4 by trading #9, #40, & #74... then took OT Andre Dillard.  Maybe the AI thinks Whaley's still in charge.
