  1. See I totally disagree. I believe throwing deep is less likely to be completed and int chances are less likely. But that's just me. Things aren't as congested, more bodies, based on timing, much quicker shorter/med areas.
  2. Is it? Deep passes require less accuracy than short or intermediate passes. Smaller Windows In short and intermediate game. More likely to be intercepted.
  3. I hear u but if u watch all of the defensive playcalls that TT played against last season u will see that it was usually vs single high safety zone looks primarily cover 3. But that's just what I saw. Teams had trouble playing man vs us bc of our vertical game and the threat of TT escaping the pocket a la Kap vs GB lol.
  4. Absolutely agree. The low ints/turnovers is a good thing IMO. Especially once u see he context in the video. I found it more interesting about what coverages he struggled against and how teams predominately played cover 3. Which will also explain why we were such a vertical team bc that is a concept that roasts cover 3. Love this stuff!
  5. I see what ur saying but timing patterns are still doable. Just bc you are in shotgun doesn't mean that u can't pass on time in rhythm. TT held ball longer than anyone but that is part by design part inexperience reading coverage and part extending the plays. I'm not mad after watching every throw I realized it's not all his fault. In fact it's more on Roman IMO. But with how wel our run game is its smart. Just need defensive help lol. Packaging zone and man beater routes in one play is smart for an inexperienced qb but that also forces a young qb to have to scan the whole field which gives the defenders that much more time to cover the routes. Ie 3x1 WR set. Sammy isolated running a man beater route but defense is in zone so he is covered. By the time TT scans to the 3 WR side those zone defenders can get to their zones. Basically if TT Misreads the coverage pre snap or the defensive picture changes post snap (pats did a ton of that) the timing of the play is off if that makes sense.
  6. I wouldn't say glaring but I do agree it is simpler than most passing games in the NFL. After watching a lot of SF film and film from last year I do think that Roman doesnt have the most diverse route tree. What worries me is that like most modern offenses, the drop of the QB doesnt match the depth of the routes (Trent Dilfer brought that to my attention). Meaning that when the QB takes the snap and takes a 5 step drop the routes arent always in rhythm where he gets rid of it at the top of the drop. Instead, regardless of how deep of the routes are, Taylor hits the top of his drop and is just standing back there waiting for the routes to develop. I analyzed the middle of the field and Romans passing game in a few different articles. If you havent read them take a look and be sure to watch the video: http://www.cover1.net/2016/03/protecting-tyrod-taylor/
  7. Here is a video breakdown of TT's interceptions with advanced stats from last season. Like most inexperienced QBs he struggled vs. zone coverage, but showed progress throughout the season. http://www.cover1.net/2016/07/cover-1-film-room-tyrod-taylors-interceptions/
  8. He took off 51x out of 467 dropbacks per PFF...
  9. Exactly, TEs and WRs in bunch sets typically have to down block on defenders to gain the edge for the RBs.
  10. The slot defender is aligned outside of Woods, what happens if he doesnt get depth w Woods' vert, but instead he just buzzes to the flats like he should have? Would TT have thrown it to him from the far hash? No, bc he had to still find the flats defender, read his actions and get the ball to the proper WR right?
  11. That is called reading the defensive coverage, he knows the defense hence he knows where to go to with the ball. A good read bc he knows the flats defender cant get there. If Hogan was running a vertical route/All Verts then the seam would be the primary vs. Cover 3! Great job
  12. Woods did, but he has trouble with big, wide DTs like Knighton
  13. The CB doesnt stop shuffling until tyrod pats the ball and has his arm back to throw. This play will make much more sense once u watch my breakdown on TT, where I cover how the Pats played him in the first game. He had trouble w Cover 3 in the first game. This game he recognized it and delivered to the correct option. This was sign of progress, but again you can't see it bc I havent shown u the first game lol..Thanks for playing! I agree, the CB doesnt stop his shuffle until TT pats the ball and starts his throwing motion. Woods has barely cleared the slot DB... More video clips here https://www.facebook.com/Cover1eturner/
  14. I'm glad u mentioned the pats bc ur exactly right. The pats had all offseason to scheme on how to shut down the pin and pull sweep. They know we r going to have to run inside more hence they beefed up inside.
  15. Exactly right. I cover some of that in the Tyrod video that is complete and will be released Monday.
  16. Woods is going to be healthy, go off and get a huge contract. He can be very productive, in the passing game and run game...Teams will covet him http://www.cover1.net/2016/04/respect-robert-woods/
  17. More specifically check out the snap to throw #s in game 1 vs pats vs game 2 last season in this article....http://www.cover1.net/2016/01/2016122mergedsystems/
  18. Great comments so far. But you guys are correct. The motion showed zone coverage. Single high safety means a version of Cover 3. Right before the snap u see the CBs back of a little and in a bail technique which also means zone. So if it is cover three the CB has to cover his deep third, so u have to find who the flats defender is. Fortunately for the Bills, the flats defender widened with Woods running down the seam and his eyes were also undisciplined and it put him totally out of position. TT was decisive and it was great to see considering how the Pats played him in game one. Stay tuned for that video early next week!!! Glad you guys enjoyed it!
  19. No doubt. I am finishing up a TT video breaking down his INTS and I was blown away at how teams had to adjust to our passing game bc of how good we were deep. Do we keep two safeties deep which leaves one less guy in the box vs run? Or do we stack the box and let the boys connect on bombs? Taylor looked better in the second half and that is as clear as day. U will see just in the pats games 1 to 2. He showed much more progress than I imagined.
  20. And I think Felton is quite valuable in a Roman offense. It is my opinion that he wasn't utilized as much bc Shady doesn't run well behind a true fb. He's more of a zone runner. Roman went into the season wanting to use Felton and 21 and 22 personnel but realized shady was struggling behind a fb. So he had to adjust by going to a mixture of zone and gap schemes and that pin and pull scheme became our bread and butter. Thanks for the support!
  21. I watched very run play from last season and the power and gap scheme video is going to be a long one. Having played running back I love old school football and our best plays last year came from the pin and pull and power schemes. It'll be fun. Seeing as how I have over 100 clips to choose from lol.
