  1. Lol so only in madden do teams use their weapons in the slot?! 50x in the slot is not enough. Knowing where Sammy is on the field every play is not the way to use him. Roman did use him in other places but I expect more. We can revisit the moment he passes 50x in the slot bc it will happen.
  2. The Patriots added a "Rex Ryan" audible to their arsenal. The audio clip got a chuckle from Gruden and Tirico. But what was lost in that clip was that Manny Lawson did the little things to shut the play down. The Bills need him back for week one. He is invaluable. Check out the play here http://www.cover1.net/2016/08/rex-ryan-audible/
  3. I don't recall but were his injuries due to hits?? Your are selling Sammy short. You don't take a guy 4th overall and just use him outside. He is much more talented than that. So ur saying Crabtree is more elusive than Sammy. If u read the article u would see that Crabtree was used in the slot 3x more.. Sammy ran 50 routes from the slot and had 6 catches that is not maximizing his talent or the respect he is going to command. There's no denying that. Allen Robinson was in the slot 99x targeted 24x caught 16 avg. 2.36 yards per route run and 234 yds oh and yeah he caught 6TDs ALL FROM THE SLOT....per PFF
  4. Far smaller players operate in the slot enough without getting injured. It's the NFL. That is not an excuse lol. If you read the article it was about using him open and to create opportunities for others. He is more than a 9 route runner.
  5. Not definitive, but I also think having an overbearing head coach like Harbaugh hurt Roman's philosophy and approach. In 2014, they 9ers wanted more out of their pass game bc they paid Kap and he obviously wasn't ready. I dont think Roman wanted to get away from the run like they did. I believe he has the freedom and trust of Rex to do what he wants and I think that his true creativity is able to shine now, at his pace.
  6. Thank u I do expect him to move him around. He did it w Crabtree. It is funny u mentioned screens, as soon as I started doing research on ways to get Sammy the ball I noticed Roman using a lot more WR screens. But that was his final year in SF when he had boldin who is like a RB playing WR. The Bills did pull that out vs the NYJ in week 17. So yes, I do expect more of that as well...
  7. Thats my point, by aligning him in the slot and running him deep it'll cause Lbs to have to carry him to the next zone opening up crossing routes/underneath routes by TEs and complementary WRs...
  8. No problem! Just trying to show people that the game isn't just decided by one player, play, coach, etc. A lot goes into this game, trying to open people's eyes to other angles that's all!
  9. Yeah Spikes is limited in the coverage department but when he was w us in 2014 albeit a different def he wasn't that bad in coverage. Schwartz used a lot of zone matching where the ILBs were asked to play RAT type coverage. In '14 Spikes was targeted 21 times allowed 14 recs for 134 yds o TDs o Ints 1 PD. His problem is that he allowed 84 YAC.. 2013 targeted 27x, 18 recs for 191 yds, 109 YAC..It will all come down to gameplanning, Rex has to matchup well on paper prior to games imo.
  10. I don't understand why people peg Woods as the classic slot WR, what makes them think that? He is fully capable of being a #2, in a higher volumed passing game. Here are his slot #s prior to 15 (15 can be found in the article) in 2014, Woods was in slot 285x, targeted 37x, 22 recs, 2 TDs, 282 yds in slot 49%-'13 126x in slot, 18 targets, 8 recs, 0 TDS, 90 yds in slot 26% of pass snaps. My point is that using Sammy in the slot will only make the other WRs/TEs outside of him better because he will bring coverage to his side. That rolled coverage is a lot more difficult to execute bc then the LBs are more involved and you know that is a mismatch. It causes other guys to become open....
  11. I am not trying to criticize neone. Just merely pointing out that he typically used his #1 more in the slot. #s proved that.
  12. Stop worrying about the ILBs in coverage, there are ways to aid them. Like this "RAT" alert. http://www.cover1.net/2016/08/rat-coverage-vs-kansas-city/ ***If having trouble playing, open in youtube.***
  13. Thank you and you nailed it with the last line. I don't think people read the article, stats or watched the GIFs. But thats ok, bc that was my point. It'll create opportunities for everyone if they use him in the slot. Which plays to your point, with no number 3 yet, Roman will have to scheme more until someone steps up. That will most definitely create mismatches and dictate coverages.
  14. Just bc Woods is outside doesn't mean he can't be effective. You can still use him on crossing routes short and to the intermediate part of the field. Put Sammy in the slot and have woods flexed like they did vs. KC where Taylor couldn't hit him for the quick pass. Woods route running is perfect for the slot much like Stevie was in the clips I used in the article, which you may not have looked at.
  15. Couldn't agree with you more! He can dictate soo much. Exactly and I think they will.
  16. The Bills will need to find ways to get Sammy the ball more in 2016. Using him in the slot will help the offense produce more through the air. In 2015, Sammy was only in the slot 50 times where he caught 6 passes. Roman used Crabtree in the slot 3x as much in 2011 and 2012. Check out this article. It has film and advanced stats to show that using the #1 WR in the slot could pay huge dividends. http://www.cover1.net/2016/08/slot-production/
  17. Just means Preston is the Will when Spikes is in but prob Mike when Zach is in. Which does change some alignments i.e. On blitz calls etc. They may have to consolidate the playbook bc of it esp if Preston or the others in general can't handle dual roles.
  18. A lot of defenses now a days use a technique called RAT coverage. It is used to funnel the WRs into the FS and LBs. Check it out. We will be running it a lot this year. http://www.cover1.net/2016/08/rat-coverage/
  19. His speed has to be respected. This bodes well for Roman's patented deep comeback vs 1 on 1 coverage. He just needs to stay healthy. http://www.cover1.net/2016/08/marquise-goodwin-rock-the-bells/
  20. Listening now, this kind of stuff excites me!
  21. I said it in my run game series but I believe that he wanted to at the start of the season but he realized Shady doesn't run well having to follow a FB. He likes more zone concepts bc he can create. So he adapted concepts and formations to Shady. Unfortunately, those concepts and formations used the fb less and less. When Felton was called upon he struggled blocking in space.
  22. I expect more freedom for TT as far as audibles etc but I don't think he will be asked to pass that much more often. Teams are also going to work on taking away the deep ball so I don't think it'll be that much easier. As far as TT throwkng to clay over the middle I totally agree I have an article in the chamber for later in the week covering that!
