Put Matt Stafford on that team and I'd have had them right in the mix with Buffalo and KC in the AFC. I get trusting Ballard and Reich, I do. I don't agree it is low, low risk with a high reward. I think the price they have paid makes it a medium-high risk and high reward. Like I say the floor is a guy who isn't their starter by the end of 2021.

Stafford would have cost a lot more, he is a better player as of now but his body is beat it’s a slow decline from here.

If they had Stafford they don’t have their first rounder. They should follow the blue print of the Bills. Trade that first rounder for Kenny Golladay if he is fully healthy, then they are really cooking.

To the bolded - Ha. Maybe. Although I do want it on record that I never said Jefferson was bad. I said he was good. I just didn't think he could play outside, I thought he was a slot only guy. But hands up he has proven me wrong about that.

I have watched every Eagles game this season, and I watched the all 22 of a handful of them as well. There were dozens of plays every game that were just on Wentz. It is not as simple as just plug him into a different offense with better talent and press go. It really isn't. He needs fundamentally rebuilding. I like Reich and Ballard a lot too. If you were picking GM-HC combos around the league to go forward with the next 5 years they are in the top 5 IMO. They deserve some trust. But man Wentz is a shot in the dark. There is so much there that you have to address, starting with his shattered psyche, then with rebuilding his fundamentals. His footwork last year was 🤢. And then his decision making... which was always an area that needed developing even when he was playing well. He was the worst QB in the league in 2020. I can't think of any other year where the worst starting QB in the NFL one season fetched a 2nd and 3rd round pick after that season. I know Wentz's situation is a little unique but I think people can't forget that 2017 season and so are overvaluing that compared to the slow regression that has happened since.

A lot of your stuff is the same way I felt watching Wentz. He totally melted down and should have been spared sooner. Reich has been around the guy and with the way him and Ballard are running I’m trusting them on this one.

I see it as low low risk high reward. What could have been a better transition from Phillip retiring? Out of all the options, this was pretty good for them.

Agreed. By the time he was benched in Philly he was a completely broken Quarterback. His footwork has become absolutely atrocious, his decision making was disgusting and he had they yips when it came to actually getting the ball out.

This isn't just a case of stick him behind a good line (albeit one that just lost its left tackle) and hey presto. This is a guy who needs rebuilding from the ground up. Confidence, fundamentals, technique, how to play the position.

I'd like a penny for Chris Ballard's thoughts on this. I sense this is a situation where he has just said "okay Frank I trust you". Because a guy as talented in evaluating talent as Ballard can't possibly have looked at the tape and thought "this was just a bad situation in Philly."

He has to no be the worst Quarterback in football which he was in 2020.

Even when he has time in the pocket he holds the ball for a fortnight, has to prepare his arm three time before he can actually force the ball out and ends up chucking it down the field when he has 3 open guys underneath.

I really do not think people are grasping how big of a job this is for Reich. Wentz is fundamentally broken.

This feels like your 2021 Justin Jefferson.

I watched more Eagles games than I’d like to admit. I’m sure Ballard would say the same thing. The Eagles entire offense was a disaster. Those guys couldn’t get off the LOS. They couldn’t block. Wentz broke down.

I’m not a huge Wentz guy, never was, I think he can play at the level of the tenth or so best at his position.

Colts didn’t give up much, I bet both are estatic and focused on surrounding him with a few more weapons on the outside.

The rest of that team is solid. This was a very good transition for the Colts. Frank and Ballard have done a great job and I will trust them here.

He did. I kinda think if we are bringing him in to play end in a 4-3 he might help our run D more than our pass D.

I think the big point is being missed. Watt would be the anti Mario. If the Bills sign him, his influence on Oliver and Company is what will make the contract worth it.

I’m not a huge Watt guy and if I had to guess I’d say he is almost toast, not burnt but crispy. I would be all for the signing though, I think putting him around young guys and letting them see his drive will pay dividends.

  5. McVay’s offense has not looked great outside of the year that Todd Gurley went off. If anyone watched the Rams that season Gurley played some of the best RB you will ever see. He was an absolute monster.

McVay is under pressure and he seems to think Goff is holding him back. It will be fun watching it all play out. I like Woods and Cupp so I’m fine if Stafford plays well, I’d also be fine if McVay runs out of excuses and the heat gets turned on him.

I still have my doubts about him as a coach after the SB and his failure to adjust.

Would you trade this years #1 for Deion Jones and let Milano walk this year, and Edmunds walk next year? Falcons are in cap trouble and look like they are rebuilding.

I love the player but that is a wild idea.

Let Milano walk, move Edmunds outside. Edmunds may benefit from being able to think less and focus on using his rare size and speed.

Find an instinctive field general and get them in the middle of that D. Preferably someone with elite physicality.

I’m hoping every move on the D side of the ball is made to beat KC. If you want to play zone against Mahomes you better come up and hit his WR and TE.

  7. Just don’t become the Steelers who always played zone against the Pats and lost big game after big game as Brady dissected their soft zone.

I have the fear with the Bills and Chiefs. If you’re going to play zone please find some guys that will punish opposing playmakers when they touch the ball.

Tampa had their struggles covering people for most the year, watch them next week. They have 4 or 5 guys that destroy anyone they can when given the chance.

  8. Josh has given his everything to the city and it’s fans. Hell of an improvement this year for him and the Bills.

Looked fine to me. Beane needs to find some guys that will bend to the playoff rules instead of playing nice until it’s too late.

The Bills should be chasing speed and physicality with each and every roster decision.

They came out hyped and ready to BULLY the Bills at every position. You had a Chiefs DL drop Morse with a punch to the jaw, and no one did anything.

The second I saw Sorensen, of all people, do some stupid "stake in the ground/not in my house" dance in Diggs face, I knew the game was over. And that was on our second possession.

KC was amped and hyped to an AFC Championship level. We were flat, soft, and "respectful". That's the difference in experience in being there before. The refs let you "play".

    We'll be ready next time.

I think he clowned Feliciano, they went right at our meanest guy. Good post though, I felt the same.

Need more nasty for next year.

If you read into those stats more....you see Buffalo has an even better pass D VS WR than KC does....however, the difference maker for KC is Kelce.  Buffalo had 25% of their opponents targets go to TE...that was tied for highest with a couple other teams...and as you see the Bills have a poor success rate VS TE (makes sense that teams would target the TE vs a team that isn't good at stopping the TE) .....

Kelce is what gives KC the advantage in the game.  He is a big part of what makes KC dangerous....if you stop the WRs with two deep zone etc....you aren't stopping Kelce...if you dedicated 2 guys to stopping Kelce, Mahomes is going to find the open target elsewhere......couple that with your lack of a 4 man pass rush....that is advantage KC.  It's why I have KC winning the game.  All other things being equal...TE is decidedly not equal here.

I have given you credit over the past year or so for some good posts even though KC biased. Your point above is fair, I do think you will be surprised how fast and intense the Bills are playing tomm.

That will be the difference. If I’m wrong I will be here to eat those words.

He’s a monster but 1) I’m sure they have a good plan for him 2) he will get yards and need to control the RZ, and 3)I’m perplexed on that Tre white analysis. Do they even know he is? I’m not sure which film they have pulled since about week 7 to say hes struggling  and they definitely said “right now”

That is an odd thing for them to say. His play only got better as the year went on.

Whatever plan they used with Kelce works, having two of the best safeties in the league helps with that.

KC hasn’t scored over 24 in their last 4 games. The Bills D is much improved since week 6, I like this matchup more than the first two games.

Anyone watching nfl network? They are talking about Kelce and they have a three man panel... the one guy (sorry I don’t know his name) said “when you’re #1 corner, Tre white, who is struggling right now, can’t cover the TE”... I rewound it twice to make sure I heard it right that he actually said Tre white and actually meant how he was playing now. What?

Kelce hasn’t had over 70 yards against the Bills in their last four meetings. I’m not worried about him.
