  1. He isn’t as bad as some like to make him sound, I do hate the way he catches the ball. I said that long before the playoff game, he drops his hips and it slows him down.

Running the ball? He will be just fine if the line brings some fight instead of just finesse.

It's 3rd down and an obvious passing situation.

What 4 do you think it will be?

    Hughes at RE

    Oliver at DT

    Epenesa at LE

    Rousseau at DT

Length is obviously something McDermott was looking for.  He wants that giant in the middle to block to block the view and get hands up when the ball is delivered.

    That's my top 4.

    What are yours?

Trade Hughes for a day two pick next year, put Obada, Oliver inside and put Bash and Rousseau on the edge. Use AJ as a situational rusher.

Rousseau is slippery, he has just as much value outside as he does in, until/if he adds 20 pounds of muscle.

    Hot take on this topic:

If Oliver isn't one of your 4 answers he should at least be on the warm -- if not hot -- seat...

Oliver is probably the strongest and has the best bend out of anyone not named Hughes. If he isn’t on your list you’re not doing this exercise correctly.

Are you using THAT list to SUPPORT the notion that Etienne having a ton of mileage (820 touches counting KOR's) isn't significant?    That's actually a pretty damning list against taking such a high mileage running back.

Agreed. He has more touches than all of them and he is a finesse back. His YPC is already down. I’d vomit. If you want more offense and points just draft Terrace Marshall.

    Terrible fit for us

We already have a really strong, and deep, WR corps. Adding a guy like Julio would produce diminishing returns (we can only throw the ball so many times in a game). That's not even accounting the draft capital we'd have to spend and the shenanigans we'd have to pull to be cap compliant.

WR group is thin and reliant on two older players, adding a third would be insanity. The Bills need Terrace Marshall much more than a broken Julio.

I agree with a bunch of this, but I don’t blame the NFL - the players in KC complained and that caused the staff to put in the request.

This is 100% on a few stupid players that want to go back to their college days.

Which ones? Not that it’s possible to hate KC much more than I already do.

I feel dirty agreeing with Brady but I liked having the numbers mean something.

Question:  Why do people keep listing WR as an immediate need?  I dont get why thats an immediate need right now

You really can’t see why replacing a 34 year old WR who is on a one year deal is a priority? I love Sanders, he made one of the best comebacks from an achilles that I know of but he isn’t a beastly number two at this stage. He is a placeholder.

WR is very much a need, Cole is also on the wrong side of 30. Unless they know that they nailed the Hodgins pick, they need to draft one.

  8. I think they pick at 30. That will give the the Bills a player with a 5th year option and they won’t spend additional picks moving up.

They don’t have the ammo to make a significant jump up the board and I do not see them using multiple picks on a single player.

This is a confident front office, they will find this year to be to their benefit due to the uncertainty that Covid has caused. The changes in the draft process should give an organized group of evaluators an advantage.

I have a good feeling about this draft even with the Bills picking late.

i agree.  He may be the perfect backup.   He could be in Buffalo for ten years.

The only problem with that theory is that he won't have any experience.  Trubisky is the perfect backup; the problem is that you can't always have a Trubisky.

Bottom line is that backup QB is always a work in process.  The GM can never say "we're set at backup QB for the next several years."

Maybe Daniel Jones will be next season's Trubisky.

Daniel Jones is set up for a big year. Giants are going to be good.

Preston Brown was top ONE in the entire NFL in tackles in this defense in 2017.

Stats aren't going to help defend Edmunds.........his 3 year totals are not impressive.........especially big plays LIKE tfl's and turnover stats.

To put the TFL stats in perspective.......he has 19 in 3 years.........Roquan Smith had 18 last year.

He hasn't forced or recovered a fumble in his last 42 regular season games.

Guy just doesn't make plays anywhere near commensurate to his physical gifts.

Also, Edmunds #'s get worse in the playoffs.

And saying he is better than a JAG Preston Brown isn't saying much.

We are talking about the difference between a guy getting a cheap, one year $4M deal after leading the league in tackles versus Edmunds maybe getting a 5 year $70M deal to keep just being "better than Preston Brown".

Good Post. Contract situations like this are the ones that the Bills will have to nail down if they are going to have this even minded approach to FA and continue to improve.

Josh and his own continued improvement will take this team places, but he will need some help against Mahomes and the elites. TFL’s and turnovers are the best way to end drives, Edmunds needs to improve there.

I hope he does improve and makes the decision easy, or the Bills move him outside, or they draft an ILB and that player shines and makes Edmunds expendable.

There was a post earlier about the one thing each poster wants from this draft. I want a 4th/5th round ILB who lights up camp and pushes Edmunds.

Ideally, add a CB at 30, get a better player than Star in the middle rounds, then bolster the LB group. That is the easiest way to improve this defense until they find an Edge rusher.

Avoid giving Edmunds long term big money, sign a top Edge next offseason. Then you go from front office of the year to future HOF candidates.

These guys are doing a good job but they are a few sound decisions away from being great. I hope Beane can find the players and make the tough calls that are coming and put the Bills over the top.

With Josh’s talent and the current culture I think the Bills can win one, if they want to win multiple they won’t be able to be stubborn when making decisins on players they drafted or like.

    Go Bills.

  11. Smith is an easy target for fans because he doesn’t make many eye opening plays, those same fans keeping harping on how important Star is.

Smith played a similar role on offense for the Bills as Star does on D.

I think he is easily replaceable but he had a did have a good season. The only time he bothered me was when he was getting flags. I’d like to see some 2020 stats with Smith on the field vs. Smith off the field.
