  1. I'm new to the board, been following for a while, thanks for the insights, angst and commiseration. After another rough season maybe some humor is in order and this board rarely disappoints.

So whats your favorite sports quote? I'll start with the following from former Tampa Bay Bucs coach John McKay:

Reporter: Coach, what do you think of your teams execution?

    McKay: I'm all for it.

  2. I don't get wound up about the scheduling, every year there are quirks and a few teams gets slighted, sometimes badly.

Lets just be happy that we're done with the self-imposed Toronto game.

Not completely relevant, but this thread reminded me of a great quote:

1992 - Pat Williams, Orlando Magic general manager, on his team's 7-27 record: "We can't win at home. We can't win on the road. As general manager, I just can't figure out where else to play."

  3. 4) I want to be happy like Todd Bowles. I mean this. It would be cool to be like him and live my life with the same smile, no matter what is happening. I wonder if he is on meds. Or, does he have the world's greatest therapist?

Haha. According to my boys (9 and 12), he never shows any emotion. Can't remember the play (fortunately there were many) but they were shocked when they saw him get p*ssed off today.

  4. I googled this a bit, and this could have been revis's worst game. Looked like deandre Hopkins had a 5/115 and 2 TD game against him this year, but that was also the game where revis got injured. The only other bad game that popped up was when Stevie had a solid one against revis a few years back when he was with us.

A lot was made of Sammy turning Revis around on that third down play to seal the deal on the Thursday night earlier this year. That was the week before the Texans game and looking back I wondered whether Revis was playing through his groin issue against us. Maybe, maybe not. No excuses for him today. With Clay/Woods/Harvin out and Salas (who?) in, Jets should have been able to eliminate Sammy. They chose Revis. They chose wrong.

  5. Nothing against Fitzpatrick, but he's a Jet and the only way I root for them is against the Pats. and even that is difficult (anyone know the death or boola-boola joke?)

Lets end the Jets season. Losing would give us a marginally better draft pick but if our players don't want to crush a rival we have bigger issues than an improved draft slot.

And yeah, we probably do have bigger issues. For all of Rex's faults, his Jets players would run through a wall for him, that hasn't happened in Buffalo. Check out quotes from Sheldon Richardson and Calvin Pace on Rex:

Bottom line for me is that knocking the Jets out of the playoffs would make this Sunday a better day.

  6. Born and bred on Long Island.

Mets '86 and vague memories of '69.

    Islanders Stanley Cup run.

My boys are growing up Bills/Mets/Islanders fans. Sometimes I wonder if this is a form of child abuse. Mets had an unexpected run this year and things are looking up for the Islanders. Really expected more from the Bills this year.

These long droughts are torture but I'll never turn my back on my teams unless they leave town.

    Go Bills!

  7. Schwartz declined, admittedly not sure how hard Rex tried to convince him to stay.

For the people arguing that Rex should have kept Schwartz, a better argument could be if the Bills' loved the defense so much, they should have made Schwartz the HC

When they hired Rex, Schwartz was gone. At best it should have been a step sideways, at least a marginal improvement on D, but definitely not a backslide.

I get the Rex hire. Great publicity, it was nice to bring in a name instead of just someones sloppy seconds.

After the nonsense in Detroit I questioned whether Schwartz was HC material. I would've said the same about Rex from his Jets days. Not all coordinators make the leap...see Wade Phillips.

  8. And then depression set in. That is what I find to be extremely frustrating about this season. I didn't know what to expect record wise this year, but I fully expected to see a dominant defensive units capable of supporting an inconsistent offense and even stealing a few games. I was worried they wouldn't be as good as they were under Schwartz but it never even crossed my mind that with the talent on the field they could be just mediocre. With Taylor providing at least adequate QB play (don't make this a TT thread) and the offense putting up more points than last year, the regression on defense is just maddening.

My feelings exactly, couldn't have said it better. Where's the bully?

  9. Having watched 30 for 30 last night it's tough to stomach the RB's obsession with the Eagles. Past Bills heroes had their issues for sure, but I can't remember so much focus on an opponent who was irrelevant to the Bills past this one game. A win today was more important than who it was against.

The coach is an enabler, everyone on his roster is great and can do as they please, they'll probably all get participation trophies at years end. I'd be OK with the enabling if we were world beaters, but we're not and meanwhile the penalties pile up week after week, including a contribution from the coach a few weeks back.

As for Sullivan: I hate when the media manufactures stories but my sense is that this one is on the RB.

    Go Bills!!!
