  1. I read a book once that categorized people based on their main focus: past, present and future. Thought that was a cool perspective and I know people I can put in each category.

Me, I'm present focused. We are 5-3, but coming off a demoralizing loss and what matters most to me is Sunday and getting back on track.

Doesn't mean that I dismiss the gloom and doom of the past 17 years or that it doesn't creep into my present day mind set. It does.

Also doesn't mean that I dismiss winning the AFC East or making the playoffs as a possibility either because of the Pats sustained success, the schedule ahead or any other reason.

Also doesn't mean I can't envision winning the AFC East or making the playoffs.

Winning or losing on Sunday will not clinch or eliminate us from the post-season.

So present day guy says win Sunday!

Because it would be better than losing.

EDIT: oops...to answer the OP's question: it's too early to talk Wild Card. Why sell ourselves short?

  2.

Taking my kids to their first NFL game against the Broncos in September. Didn't want to leave the stadium after the game. They still talk about the super-exuberant guy sitting next to them: "If this isn't a top 5 defense, I don't know what is!!!!". Walking past Andre Reed on the way back to the car. Going out to eat before the flight home, still seeing all the Bills jerseys and talking Bills with the waiter.

As for game play, it's the Comeback hands down.

  3. McAdoo deserves to be  the first to go. In addition to the record and todays game,  the suspensions to DRC and Jenkins lead me to believe he's lost the locker room. But the Giants aren't usually prone to knee-jerk reactions so he may last longer than he would in another organization.

Pagano has my vote in large part because I think Irsay is more impulsive.

Hue Jackson is a contender because, um, well the Browns. But more to the point there was a story out today that Jackson and the coaching staff thought the GM intentionally scuttled the McCarron trade

  4. Isn't the ball supposed to be dead once the player gives himself up?????

I knew this rang a bell. This link is old, not sure if the rule changed since:

    http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/giants/post/_/id/7449/breaking-down-cruzs-fumble-that-wasnt

So not to beat a dead horse, but if the same rule is in effect and if he hadn't made a break for it after giving up on the play it may have gone a different way.

  5.

We aren't a playoff team until there's an "x" next to our name in the standings. We've proven nothing so far. No matter how it feels, we are 5-3 again with some scary opportunities. I'm starting to get worried about our inability to generate any pass rush, road game intensity, and how easily our offense can go flat. We have some good teams coming up that will exploit these issues and things could get ugly quick. I'm not saying we will finish 7-9 again, but 8-8 is a very real possibility.

    Go Bills

I needed a day to digest this loss and I'm still taking antacids. I'm not an X's and O's guy but from what I saw we were dominated on both sides of the line and it was a totally demoralizing loss, especially coming in with high expectations after the uplifting win on Sunday.

I'm cautiously optimistic. We aren't a playoff team but last I checked neither are any other teams right now.

we are 5-3. 8 games ago I would have signed on the dotted line for 5-3. I like the idea of looking at the season in quarters. 1st quarter we were a surprising 3-1. I didn't expect another 3-1 but I was hopeful. 27 hours ago I could smell 6-2 but it didn't happen and that hurts, but 5-3 is more than I expected.

We have some good teams coming up the next 4 games and I remain cautiously optimistic. I think it's rare that any team goes a full season without getting thumped at least once and I'm not trying to sugarcoat the loss, but schitt happens and yesterday it happened to us. Yesterdays game is far less important than the next.

The Bills have been pretty resilient this year, going 5-3 despite only putting the first points on the board in one of those games. Lets hope they bounce back from a brutal loss with a W against the Saints!

    Go Bills :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

  6. Same here. Just have two best teams play in Series. Season is playoffs. Baseball @ night, in November is an abomination. Miss it (finishing tops for the Pennant) a few games... Tough... Win in June when the season counts.

Put any team in the playoffs and they have a good chance of winning. Teams should be built for 162. Not 1, 5, or 7.

Are teams built for 162 games or sequences of 4-6 games? I think it's the latter. The lack of off days during the regular season forces the roster to be exposed. Especially if you play real baseball like the NL. But the extra off days in the post season changes everything and allow teams to hide their flaws, particularly inn the bullpen.

Easier said than done, but eliminate post-season off days. 7 game series are the way to go...it mimics the norm of 3 game regular season series. 9 is kooky talk.

Left the room for a minute.

Did they just go to replay to see if Utley was interfered with on a straight-in slide?

  7.

    Far enough. 80% then?

Keep in mind, Sturgeon was responding specifically to criticisms to Sci-fi writing, at the time. Right now, one might use that do describe a lot of blogs, twitter accounts and facebook pages.

85% and not one bit less.

  8. Yes, I 100% equated like with good in my response. Your point is valid, there is a lot of music that I don't like that I would consider "good". The opposite is true as well. I can think of at least one band that I think is great that is more Caddyshack 2 than Godfather.

Anyway, my objection to your original post was what I perceived as a blanket indictment that 90% of the shared music on this thread was crap. Simply put, I don't share that viewpoint.

  9. Springer with one of the worst decisions I've ever seen an outfielder make. He had no chance to make that play.

He made a highlight reel catch when his LF was already settled under the ball a few games back (might have been against the Yanks).

Over aggressive on the ball tonight, either over aggressive or crowd noise on the earlier one.

  10. Raise your hand if you had Keuchel and Kershaw not making it out of the 5th.

    What a great game.

Doubt I'll make it to the last out tonight, but glad that the Houston and LA markets have it easier.

Unsolicited prediction with the score 8-7 top 7 man on third two out: after being told he lost his role as closer, Giles gets the save tonight.

  11.

First of all, what "fish reference"?

Let me ask you: Do you think all music is equal? Is it all good? Is all the music shared here, good, in your opinion?

Fish reference was to Sturgeon's Law.

Do you think all music is equal? No.

Is it all good? No. But to me that's a personal preference and subjective. My good isn't your good. The criteria used to decide what is good is equally personal and subjective.

Is all the music shared here, good, in your opinion? There's some music on this thread that I like and some that I don't like . I just don't classify the stuff I don't care for as crap.

  12.

No, again, understandable, but wrong. There is plenty of music I know is of high quality---it just isn't for me. In those cases, I think I'd be better off if I could appreciate it, but I simply don't. I'm actually fairly self aware.

Keep in mind, for me, music is about that: MUSIC. Not image, genre, costumes, stage shows---all that extraneous stuff. In fact, most of that stuff turns me off, even to "quality" music. I suppose that's another thing I need to get over. But I tend to like music I think will be listened to for years. Not stuff that is "of the moment" and is likely to be forgotten in 10 years, if that helps. Quality music (even the stuff that isn't for me) stands the test of time.

I think you don't get yourself and the fish reference. You basically denigrated 95% of posters shared music choices based on the bolded.

Call me out if I missed it but I don't remember many (if any) "this band has a great stage show/image" comments.

WRT to the last bolded piece, what's the statute of limitations when we can determine a song is good enough to be considered "high quality"?
