  1. Thanks WVU! I went to Best Buy to look at TVs and prices and bought a used Samsung 40 inch 3D LED to get an idea of the tv size we want knowing i could return it. My wife's first comment was "that's not much bigger than our 32 inch, let's go bigger"..who was I to argue. Seeing the options and prices at Best Buy and looking through my friend, I went with my friend. Bought this Panasonic 46 inch 3D Plasma for under $1,000 which got great reviews and made CNet's best TVs of 2011 list. Arrives Monday and can't wait, only paid $1.99 shipping!

Didn't buy the glasses yet, can't bring myself to spend $130 on those. Gotta be a cheaper way to get them. Looked at the non 3D version of the same TV but read that the HD picture wasn't as good.

Have to say, the jump from my 4 year old Vizio to the Samsung I'm watching now is amazing, can't believe how far TVs have come! Was watching Lord of the Rings and thought I was in Mordor! Although my wife commented that special effects don't look as good in HD.

  2. Just got a promotion and my wife is letting me buy a new TV. Turns out a friend of a friend works for Panasonic and offered me a friends & family discount through their website. Most of the TVs are 20-30% with cheap shipping.

Are Vieras good? Also, wondering what to get. Def want 42 inches, and probably ready to move on from LCD which I have now. Problem is, our living room has 7 windows and TONS of light which is why I never bought Plasma in the past as they had bad reflections. Is that still the case? Is LED better? Is getting 3D worth it at this point?

And, is it cheaper/better to just buy a different brand at Best Buy?

Want this to be a long term purchase.

    Thanks!

  4. For those in the tri-state area of NYC, we'll be holding our 10th annual NYC Buffalo Bills Backers Draft Party(ies) at McFadden's on 42nd & 2nd.

To make it even more fun, I just received a voicemail from Andre Reed, who will be at the party on Thursday for the first round! As most know he's in town anyway that week to read the Bills 2nd Round pick from the podium at Radio City. We'll be promoting his OTM sauce and he's excited to watch the draft with Bills fans.

More details to come, if you're around and want to meet him come on by!

  5. You can get an extremely nice machine for under $1,000. Most of the great deals right now are for 15.6" laptops. (Yes there are great deals in all sizes, but you have the biggest choice of great deals in that size.) If that is compact enough for your travel, you are in great shape here. The biggest problem will be deciding which computer you like best.

    Quick question:

How important is battery life for you?

2-3 hr battery life would be great!

  6. I work for a small marketing agency in NYC, I have a 5 year old Toshiba PC laptop. My boss told me to order myself a new PC laptop and to keep it under $1,000.

Looking for some advice. I create a lot of presentations on Powerpoint, look at a lot of graphic renderings, we keep most of our work on a server. Don't know much about computers, but some things I need/want:

    1) 15 inch screen

    2) wireless internet card

    3) dvd/cd re-writer/player

    4) at least 2 usb ports

    5) hdmi output

    6) latest version of Microsoft Office

    7) would like it to be compact for travel

    8) LCD type screen, no reflection

This needs to last me a couple years, would appreciate some recommendations, and would prefer a name brand computer.

  7. Still remember walking into the NYC draft party that year and saying "I don't care who we draft, as long as it isn't that undersized one year wonder Penn State DE that has bust written all over him."

And then the guy blocks me on twitter during last year's Super Bowl for saying he should worry about winning a super bowl not partying at one.

And then the guy celebrates a meaningless tackle at the end of a blowout.

    Maybin = pathetic loser

But he's still a millionaire, so all the power to him.
