  1. Thanks everybody for your words of support. We went on to sell over 200 shirts! My oldest son and I managed to sneak away yesterday and brought him to McFadden's for the first time since he was a baby. Too bad we lost, but the bar had posters of Sally around and a lot of fans came up to offer words of encouragement to Thomas and I. Here's a quick video of him experiencing his first touchdown with other fans:

  2. Hi all - I've been a member here for years, some may remember me pre-kids when I posted a lot more. I started and run the NYC Bills Backers with Billsfanone, the biggest club outside of WNY.

Over the summer my daughter was diagnosed with Infant Leukemia at 9 months of age, its so rare that the world-leading cancer hospital we're at in NYC only treats one case a year. It does not have the same great odds as when diagnosed later in childhood, but she is doing well so far. A bunch of the sites and bloggers for the Bills & Sabres have gotten together and are selling t-shirts for Sally, with proceeds going to her treatment fund. Here is the article where it appeared first: http://www.deargodwh...pportsally.html

Shirts are on sale until Sunday morning. We're also doing fundraisers at the games at McFadden's, as well as a larger fundraiser on 9/14 there. To learn more you can check out www.sweetsallysunshine.com or facebook.com/sweetsallysunshine

Sorry to interupt the pre-kickoff chat, and feel weird posting this, but know we need to ask for help.

    Go Bills!

  3. Thanks all, Scott Berchtold reached out a couple weeks ago when we were first in the hospital and sent Sally a Bills bear and autographed EJ Manuel photos to my sons. Since then we went through different diagnosis, at one point thinking it was a fluke virus and she was fine, but confirmed Leukemia last week. Not sure if Bills are aware of latest, most weren't as things changed so much so quickly. But they were one of the first responders.

  4.

First thing I'd do is fire Brandon and announce when you build a winning culture marketing will take care of itself, and that has NOT been happening!

Yep. Brandon was involved in football decisions once, anybody remember that disaster? Brandon is part of the losing culture, and gets more credit than deserved.

  5. They should play games in Albany, Syracuse, and Montreal too :D

Seriously though, I wonder how many Bills fans are down there?

When we're winning we fill two bars with 600 Bills fans with overflow into a 3rd bar. NYPD had to shut us down after the Pats win as it spilled out onto 42nd Street.

Can't imagine what'll happen when we make the playoffs!

  6. Hey all, here's the latest on NYCBBB's tailgate:

For those like myself heading to the game, I spoke with Kenny “Pinto Ron” Johnson this week and asked him about a tailgating spot. We always used to tailgate in 16C, but that is now a premium lot. Funny enough, we became such good friends with the Jets fans in that section over the last 10 years that last year they reached out to Kenny and told them their new location which is a lower tier lot that everybody with a pass can access, and is also a parking lot that fills up slower so most should be able to get into. Here’s a map of the spot:

    http://nycbbb.com/notes/giants-tailgate-location/

Its called Lot 26 next to the IZOD Center and we’ll be near pole A. Kenny called and verified the spot again this week so we are good to go, he said the best way to describe the location is if you see the huge failed mall they built and you look at the ski ramp, if you drove a car up and off of it you’d fall onto our spot. This is a good test run for our soon to be Jets tailgate later in the season.

  7. I'll be at the game as well! Where's everyone going to be tailgating?

Can u message me when you do? Going with a few bills fans and would like to tailgate with everyone.

Somebody posted the location I emailed to our NYCBBB members earlier today, so we at least have a meeting spot. Should have more details Thursday, Friday at the latest.

  8. While McFadden's is the "official" NYC Bills Backers bar here on Sundays they do not hold the monopoly on Buffalo Fan support in the Big Apple. Thanks to the mass exodus of Buffalonians to New York City in the past ten years, you can walk in just about any establishment with NFL Sunday Ticket and you'll find a group, some big some small, of ex-pats cheering on the only REAL New York team.

After Jimmy's Bait Shack (92nd St and 3rd) put the kibosh on Bills games I was left wandering until next season I found Bonnies Grill in Park Slope. Bonnies is great for the food (REAL Buffalo Wings, Beef on Weck etc...as well as some of the best burgers in the borough) and laid backed-ness of Brooklyn but you have to get there early to score a good seat in order to view the smallish TV's (since upgraded to larger screens.)

So, three seasons back (four maybe?)I'm walking up 5th Ave from Bonnies to the Subway after a game and I see groups of Bills-clad guys and gals passing me. I thought this strange as the game was over and they were headed toward Bonnies. Turns out there we're two other bars on the same block devoting screens to groups of Buffalo fans. I found the same thing in Williamsburg and Greenpoint last season.

Basically, NYC is teeming with Bills fans.

Hey, we never claim to have a monopoly, we encourage other bars to show games and even promote them, especially Bonnies and the groups in NJ as not everybody can make it into Manhattan every week. I've actually always wanted to watch a game at Bonnies, been there a couple times in the offseason for wings and beef on weck. I'm going to try watching the game from McFadden's instead of Calicos for the first time in years just to see what goes on there nowadays.
