  1. Is there a precedent for this type of behavior from other coaches around the league? I can't recall a situation where a coach left on his own accord, then bad mouthed his former team, and then looks for a job. Saying anything to Polian on his way out the door, he had to know that it would leak to the media in a matter of days, so why say anything? Ego?

Somebody is going to hire him. Similar to a player who has issues, there is a buyer out there somewhere. But he'll be on a short leash due to all of this turmoil, which doesn't really suit his personality.

As TO once said, get your popcorn ready!

  2. My prediction is that he'll end up getting hired for a couple of years and then fired because of the same issues that we've had with him.

His gametime decisions are questionable and so are his personnel decisions (Hackett, Caveman, Urbik, etc).

His attitude is where the desire to have him as a coach comes from, but as we know, that can also be a negative in this media hyped, PC world.

  3. Not a surprised that Gase and Bevell are favorites on this board over Jackson.

Did Gase work wonders with Manning? Really? Manning might be the last player in NFL history that needs to be "coached up"

Bevell? Flavor of the month. Farve was kind of good without him don't you think? Also, he didn't discover Russell Wilson, thank you. Wilson

carried himself and played like a 10 year vet when he walked into training camp his first year. Look it up.

Jackson is tough, has leadership, is innovative, and maximizes his players performance everywhere he goes. I much prefer him.

Jackson's candidacy reminds me a bit of Arians before he was hired by the Cardinals.

He appears to be able to hold players accountable and can command a team, something some of these other candidates...well... I'd be shocked if they were able to do.

    Just my 2 cents.

Good post! And likening him to Arians is promising. He was my favorite last time we were looking for a coach and he's done well with the Cards.

  4. The guaranteed positives of leaving ($4MM plus whatever his next contract is) outweigh the potential negatives (tanking next season and getting fired) of staying.

He's selling while his stock is high, and I can't fault him for that.

But I still hope he fails miserably because I'm a prick.

  5. I guess you are right, but for the life of me I can't understand why. Women can wear hats--they used to be required in church. Men can't. Why? I mean other than some lame reason like "it's customary"? Is there any legit practical reason for this?

Hats keep the bugs off of your head. Not a hard concept to grasp...

  6. I worry that Schwartz is as good as gone. Given how well he did with our defense this year, he is certainly going to be considered for a HC job and I don't see why he would want to be here when the coach who hired him just left and there is no QB solution in sight. If we hire someone else to be the HC, they might have their own guy in mind for the DC job. Only way he stays might be if the Pegula's offer him the HC job but odds are he'll get a better offer.

I think so too. The good thing is that the talent stays with the team, even if Schwartz is gone. There's just no telling what the next guy will do with that.

  7. And how his smile lights up a room.

    Understatement of the year

But don't ask me. Ask Kiko. When Kiko wanted to quit football at Oregon, he later said that the only reason he stayed was because of a phone call from Hamdan. All Hamdan said was, "play."

To be fair, Hamdan thought that he was calling his VCR, but it inspired Kiko nonetheless.

  8. Wouldn't it be power struggle if they hire Frank Reich or anyone else? If schwartz have no problem being a DC. I think Gase would be a nice fit in buffalo. Only problem is that we don't have a QB and the Oline needs to be fix.

Yes, I think that it would be if Frank or anyone who is a younger guy gets the HC nod and Schwartz wants it, but is denied.

Maybe not, but the ego of a coach like Schwartz who has been around for awhile is a hard thing to judge in a situation like this one.
