The Boston radio guys were talking this morning and said in the Brady era, the second best QB in the division has been Chad Pennington... I tried to think of someone else who has been competitive... No friggen wonder they dominate the division!
But (brace yourself for classic homer bills thinking)... coming off a 9-7 season and this very active FA period, something seems different... Maybe its my personality, but I am pretty optimistic.
Edit: I hope the above wasn't too much of a tangent from the post, as brady is still a patriot.

It stinks for all of us bc Fred has always been a bright spot for the last 8(?) years. Rex and the new FO do not have the attachment to Fred that we do.
He can't play forever, and we just signed McCoy... If its true - It stinks, but I get it and will continue to support the team.

I never understood that rotational D Line situation... sometimes the situation calls for having your best out there.

all pretty decent. he missed on the Mike Williams and Bryce Brown deals. but how well he did on the others makes up for that
The Mike Williams deal initially looked like a steal... a tall very capable red zone receiver for a 6th rounder? The potential goodness just never came to fruition... and don't blame Williams, I blame the coaches not giving him PT.

I know stats don't tell the whole story but with the above FA comparison, this trade makes sense. You have to keep in mind the limited availability. Signing a top 5 or even top 15 qb isnt an option.

I am pretty open to this move... give him a chance with McCoy, Sammy, Woods, maybe something can happen. I'll wait to make my judgement. Maybe he ends up starting opening day!

If we use ANOTHER top pick on a RB... I would freak out. The position just isnt worth it. Have we learned nothing from NE rb philosophy? Use dixon, jackson, and brown. For consistency in the run game, the line is the key, not the backs. Argueing for a guy just bc of the Homerun factor has little weight in my mind.

Its a discussion forum. The post is generating a discussion. Rather than tear the guy down, why not discuss it a bit. Its the offseason, what else is there if not discussing scenarios such as this.

In the Minnesota and Detroit games, Sammy made catches in the clutch the helped get us the W. I definitely would not call him a bust.
He does have some room to improve. He is a first round pick for sure, but remember we paid two first rounders... Its too early to tell if he was worth two number ones, but I am very happy he is on our team after what he showed this past season.

I have a coworker who loves the pats and is completely unabashed and in favor of all the "methods" the pats use to win. The majority of the new england area has "embraced the hate" and could care less. I asked him about Blount and short tenure with Pitt, his response was "Of course he did it on purpose!"

The patriots have made the NFL boring for the past 10 years. I didnt even hate them after they won two superbowls... the third put them in the realm of the 90's Cowboys for hate, and after that it just made watching boring. Every year the same playoff picture, and the media eating it up made it worse.

Does anyone else live in Boston/New England and listen to the Sports Hub? Gresh and Zoe just said that this is an upgrade and that being the OL coach in Jax is a better job than any in Buffalo... I listen to this show just to get upset...

I think if Leodis doesn't fumble away the Monday night game against the patriots, the last few years would have been different. That single heartbreaking play for this fragile organization set the tone for that season and at least a few years after...
From that game on, I stopped trusting Leodis as a returner because of I cant get that one play out of my mind... Every punt or kick that he fields, I hold my breath.
