  1. The magic powers of the Fred Jackson Jockstrap will once again be revealed for all to see. I predict a big day for FredEx. NE has been creaming all over him,

but Fred will wipe that off and kick NE's ass. I'm calling my shot, over 150 yards of total O from Freddy.

  2. Given how few opportunities the WR's have had for YAC, I'm expecting them to play angry on Sunday.

I really feel an upset coming on. I wonder if Detroit understands the extent to which a sleeping giant may have just been stirred.

OK Yamamoto. It's put up or shut up time for the receivers. They wanted EJ gone, he's gone. We need to see some of that terrible resolve now.

  3. I think the young buck has some things to learn about big internal decisions like switching QB's:

    mikerodak

Watkins: “The way he talked, the way he handles business, the way he looks at plays and breaks down defenses, it’s kinda different than EJ."

    mikerodak

Sammy Watkins on Kyle Orton today in practice: “He reads it quicker, the ball is coming out faster

These quotes show a lack of maturity on Sammy's part. As others have pointed out, when he trots out all the -er adjectives, he's clearly comparing Orton to EJ. This is not done in a professional locker room. Hopefully Fred will take the young man aside and teach him the cliches like Crash taught Nuke. EJ did not hang Sammy or the Caveman out to dry for the drops, Sammy should have returned the favor. Bad enough these guys act like spoiled brats on the field. This type of behavior rips a team apart. It will be interesting to see how they react if Orton lays a turd, or has a bad game like EJ. If they react the same way, then this season is over, and we still haven't replaced the losers in the locker room.

  4. There is no future for EJ Manuel. He is done in Buffalo. I asked in another thread if anyone remembered a QB who came back from a benching. They said Brees for Flutie. I don't remember a benching, I remember Brees getting injured. Even so, that was the only example they could come up with. QB's do not rebound from getting benched. We've seen it here with JP Losman. If EJ does come back, it will be elsewhere, as Brees did in Nawlins.

  5. He's gutless because on a play action bootleg he'll always go to the flat even if there's a guy further open downfield. The dude sucks. He doesn't play inspiring football and I question his toughness.

Not quite true Dude. There was a bootleg play that had me screaming. 3 yards for first down, Chandler right there 5 yards in front of him for the easy first down, and EJ airmails it 10 feet over Woody's head. Punt.

  6. wow its all or nothing then is it? how bout we sit him and he watches and learns and rethinks how he plays? why not show him hes not untouchable? everyone else has to sit out some plays, woods, cj, fj, and Sj got traded! He needs to learn, not have his jock strap laden in gold after everygame. What if orton gets hurt in a couple starts and ej comes in and lights it up? will he still be done? have you ever watched football? or managed something?

ps i agree with benching hackett, hes an idiot, but the next franchise qb will be the first this century, EJ isnt it.

JP never came back from his benching. I tried to remember any drafted QB who was benched for a backup and still came back to have a good career. Help me out, I'm coming up empty.

  7. This HAS to be a troll thread. The offensive play calling was just fine, after re-watching the game, for, well, Freddie Jackson highlights, EJ was beyond terrible. He was so bad on so many plays, it looked like he was doing a Tim Tebow impersonation, and on one pass, he nearly got Woods killed AGAIN, and AFTER he got Goodwin knocked out.

All I have to say about this idiotic thread is: Please, you MUST be trolling.

Sorry that you feel that way Homey, I've enjoyed your posts over the years. I'm not trolling. The Bills won 2 by running over the opposition. They lost two by giving up on the run and saddling up EJ. I blame that on Hackett, and it's how I really feel.

Benching EJ, while understandable, is the wrong move, IMHO. He was terrible yesterday, in his 14th game as a pro, and wilted under the pressure of an away game and JJ Watt getting up close and personal. He's now done in Buffalo, a first round pick discarded without even a full season of games.

If Hackett plans to use Orton in 60/40 to 70/30 pass to run ratio like EJ the last two weeks, it's gonna be a long damn season.

  8. Every football player must face competition at his position in order to bring out his best. EJ faced no real competition in training camp because the other QBs were awful, you can blame the front office for that.

If the last two games were EJ's best then he is done and if they weren't then he'd better start proving that he deserves to start again. Tolerating substandard play is sure to preserve the status quo.

OK, Number Six (loved that show). Anyone with a PMG avatar is OK by me ;-)

  9. 2 positive plays out of 6 and they're running the ball effectively? And the two good runs were merely solid good plays.

Another issue with your calculation is that you don't factor in the fact that the Bills closed the first half with 5 straight passing plays because they had to pass, and they closed the second half with 8 straight passing plays because they had to pass. The ratio of pass to run shrinks to 33-22 (inclusive of two sacks). That's high by Bills' standards, but if you look at a team like, say, the Eagles - another team that lost a close game and a team with a good offensive design -- you'll see a team that dropped back 45 times (inclusive of a sack and a qb scramble) and ran it 11 times. And the Eagles have the best RB in the league!

My larger point is that you should look at what happens across the league to teams that are losing games in the 4th quarter. They can't play field position ball anymore - they have to score. And teams in the NFL are more likely to score (as opposed to simply get good field position or eat clock) by passing it.

OK, good point about end of 1st half, disagree with the 2nd half, but with your adjustments, that changes the pass run ratio to 60/40. Still a losing equation. We got the ball with 4:49 in the 4th down only 6 points. You can still run the rock there in a hurry up offense, and you get to burn clock so Fitz doesn't have time to kick the FG. We're just not going to agree dude. Let's see if Hackett has Orton throw >60% against Detroit. I think if that happens, we lose.
