  1. http://www.gbnreport.com/ Buffalo: One of the best stories in the NFL this season - at least east of San Diego - was the resurgence of the Buffalo Bills. Coming off a dismal 6-10 season in 2003, the Bills started the season at 1-5, but won 8 of their past 10, including a streak of 6 straight, to give themselves an improbable shot at making the playoffs. While much of the credit for the Bills' turnaround has gone to the emergence of Willis McGahee, the Bills 2003 first round pick, who has given Buffalo a creditable ground game after not playing at all last season as he rehabbed from that serious knee injury suffered in the 2002 BCS title game, WR Lee Evans, this year's #1 pick, has also played a key role. Evans, the 13th player selected overall at the 2004 draft, has given the Bills the quality #2 receiver to help take some of the pressure off Eric Moulds; in the process, Evans has given the Bills a defense-stretching big-play threat as he averaged almost 18 yards per catch on 48 total receptions, including 9 which went for TDs. TE Tim Euhus, a 4th round pick, also contibuted 11 receptions, including a TD catch. Meanwhile, WR Jonathan Smith, a 7th rounder whom the Bills resigned after releasing him prior to the start of the season, gave the special team's a boost as he averaged almost 20 yards a punt return, including a 70-yarder for a score, late in the season. The Bills also received some unexpected contributions from undrafted free agent DBs Rashad Baker and Jabari Greer, a couple of former Tennessee Volunteers, who have combined for 31 tackles and 5 pass breakups, with Baker adding a pick and Greer a sack. Meanwhile, QB J.P. Losman, the Bills' second opening round pick, got a few minutes of mop up time, but with Drew Bledsoe back in form wasn't needed... Grade A-
  2. yeah, I would have liked the Bills to get him, but it appears his price was too high
  3. http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm POSTED 7:43 p.m. EST, March 31, 2005 CURRENT CAP NUMBERS FOR ALL TEAMS We've gotten a look-see at the current cap numbers for each of the 32 NFL teams. And here's the cap space each team has or, as the case may be, hasn't. Raiders: $300,000. Buccaneers: $406,200. Patriots: $532,500. Falcons: $564,300. Dolphins: $1,110,200. Saints: $1,170,600. Giants: $1,317,200. Redskins: $1,502,900. Jets: $1,573,500. Seahawks: $1,829,900. Buffalo: $2,020,100. Chiefs: $2,021,600. Broncos: $2,183,700. Titans: $2,266,700. Steelers: $3,000,500. Panthers: $3,290,500. Texans: $3,832,700. Lions: $4,469,800. 49ers: $4,744,700. Bengals: $5,163,700. Rams: $6,018,700. Packers: $6,069,400. Bears: $6,160,600. Ravens: $7,058,300. Chargers: $7,278,900. Browns: $7,974,400. Cardinals: $7,999,000. Colts: $8,192,200. Eagles: $8,523,200. Vikings: $9,398,000. Cowboys: $9,725,500. Jaguars: $11,348,800. Keep in mind that all teams still need to sign their draft picks, so those with less than $1 million in cap room are going to either be restructuring contracts or shedding players. Also, teams with high-priced franchise players (e.g., the Raiders, Saints, Colts, Seahawks, 49ers, Chargers) could pick up some space come July by signing the guy to a long-term deal -- or sooner by trading him. For teams that enter the season with large remaining cap balances, the excess can be used to extend contracts.
  4. Seahawks | Bannister Contract Breakdown - from www.KFFL.com Thu, 31 Mar 2005 14:35:07 -0800 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Seattle Seahawks agreed to a four-year, $4 million contract with WR Alex Bannister. The deal also includes a $1 million signing bonus.
  5. I agree with you in that 2 backups are from other postions but unless they decide to keep 10 linemen I would expect thats what will happen
  6. If the Bills Get Shelton the line would be set Starters would Be LT LJ Shelton LG Mike Gandy C Trey Teague RG Chris Vallerial RT Mike Williams Backups would be C/G Ryan Tucker T Dylan McFarland G Justin Bannon T Jason Peters
  7. I like Nugent alot & I'd be okay with the Bills drafting him, but since there are alot of holes at other positions that could use depth or upgrades it may be better to get a positional playerto help the team. Maybe the Bills can get a kicker in the 7th round
  8. That would be good too & maybe they could grab the best available kicker in the 7th round
  9. Get LJ Shelton who has good size yet good enough footwork & quick hands to potentially dominate under Jim McNally Sign Alex Bannister WR (Seattle UFA) who is 6'5 with 4.4 speed to compete with Reed & Aiken. He is also a special teams pro bowl gunner. Draft CB Ronald Bartell in the 2nd roud of the draft. 6'1 with 4.37 speed. He is aggressive and Has the size and speed that teams covet, + With Nate Clements going into a contract year and Vincent moved to Safety and the lack of size of Mcgee, getting another quality CB on the roster will be important WR/TE Vincent Jackson in the 3rd round 6'5 241 LBS with 4.46 speed. Played WR in college at a div 1aa school & dominated but has the size & smarts to play TE. Name a CB who can cover a guy this Big or a LB who can cover a guy this fast? He has good hands too. RB Brandon Jacobs in the 4th round 6'4 261 4.59 speed A huge back with decent speed to help McGahee wear out defenses DT Sione Pouha 6'4 325lbs in the 5th round is strong and athletic QB Stefan LeFors 6'0 4.53 speed in the 6th round a very mobile QB who doesn't have great size or the strongest arm but is smart and very accurate Sign Peerless Price who is expected to be cut after June 1. Use alot of 3 wide receiver sets to spread the offense. More speed. Can you imagine the possibilities of creating mismatches on offense. This team would have so much size and speed on both sides of the ball it just sounds awesome.
  10. If we keep our 2nd round pick where it is I think that this guy could be a good pick. SIZE & SPEED Ronald Bartell Official Bio College: Howard Height: 6-11/4 Position: Cornerback Weight: 211 Class: Senior 40-Yard: 4.37 SCOUTING REPORT Strengths: Excellent size and speed...Great athlete who would make an impact at any big school...Has fluid hips...Physical and aggressive...Has some upside. Weaknesses: Played against a low level of competition...Raw and has a lot to learn in terms of technique...Awareness leaves a lot to be desired...It will be a major jump in terms of the talent level and will need to show well at the postseason All-Star games. Notes: Began his career at Central Michigan before transferring...Has everything the NFL is looking for physically and is one of the top sleepers in the draft. - Scott Wright
  11. Maybe Anttaj Hawthorne Official Bio College: Wisconsin Height: 6-33/8 Position: Defensive Tackle Weight: 321 Class: Senior 40-Yard: 5.12 SCOUTING REPORT Strengths: Has great size and big frame with long arms...Very strong up top...Has a lot of experience...Can be unblockable at times and almost forces offenses to devote two men to him...Can play the run as well as get after the quarterback...Has a good burst and good closing speed...Does a good job shedding blocks...Solid, reliable tackler. Weaknesses: Has an inconsistent motor and can disappear for stretches...Doesn't have elite speed and quickness...Needs to get stronger in his lower half...Needs to get in better shape to play longer stretches...Still relies on his natural talent too much. Notes: Probably a better prospect than Wendell Bryant was coming out of college...Erasmus James stole some of his thunder as a senior, but Hawthorne is still one of the top defensive tackles in this draft. - Scott Wright
  12. Peerless Price, LJ Shelton, & Alex Bannister would be good pickups
  13. Good post. Travis Henry is a good back. He probably doesn't get enough respecy around the league for being a 1400 yard 13TD back When was the last time an Arizoina Cardinal rush for over 1100 yards yet alone 1400

  15. I heard that Ricky lost 30 lbs & is not in playing shape at all
  16. March 21, 2005 Saints intend to keep Haslett for long haul By now the Saints had hoped to have a contract extension finalized for coach Jim Haslett, who has two years remaining on his current deal. Both sides are exchanging proposals, but the goal is to extend Haslett through the 2008 season or beyond.

  18. I think that Shelton is a pretty good player who is in a bad situation similar to Henry I think McNally could make him a probowler
  19. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3138 Lee Evans Player Diary: A Whirlwind Day Buffalobills.com 03/22/2005 4:00 PM The following is an excerpt from Lee Evans Player Diary on his draft day experiences last year. It's an exclusive found only in the pre-draft issue of Bills Digest, on newsstands in WNY March 24 at your local Wegmans, Tops and Noco Express shops. To subscribe call 1-800-93-BILLS or subscribe online at www.billsdigestonline.com! Bills Digest is excited to welcome Lee Evans as this year's contributor for our monthly Player Diary during the 2005 season. Entering his second year, Evans will share his insight from the locker room in an important year for the offense under the leadership of fellow 2004 first round pick J.P. Losman. It's a first person account that will only be found in Bills Digest. In his first installment Evans takes a look back at the 2004 NFL Draft. Thinking back to last spring, I can safely say that my nerves were jumping as Paul Tagliabue stepped to the podium and said, 'San Diego is on the clock,' at the beginning of the draft. You never know what to expect and that's what makes you so antsy. The anticipation just kills you sitting there and waiting for your name to get called. I was blessed enough to go 13 off the board and that seemed like forever, so I can only imagine what people in the third round or the second day felt like. It's really hard to put into words what it feels like waiting to be drafted, but I guess it's similar to when you're a little kid waiting for Christmas to come. Sooner or later you know it's going to come, and you're just kind of waiting and waiting. It's that type of feeling. With all that time to sit there and wait it's hard not to speculate as to when you might be taken and by what team. So many people are telling you so many things that you really don't know what to believe. You've just got to wait and see and that's what is difficult about it. People might find it hard to believe that I had worries on draft day since I wound up being a number one pick, but I had a roller coaster of emotions. At one point I felt I was going high, then I thought to myself, 'Uh oh…
  20. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-n...ov=ap&type=lgns ROMEO'S APPROACH Romeo Crennel knows what he's facing as Cleveland's new head coach. ``We're starting from a pretty low point,'' Crennel acknowledged. ``When you only win four games, you know you have to add talent. We have a few solid players there, but we have to upgrade.'' Crennel and Phil Savage, the new general manager, have begun by subtraction, dumping two failed high draft choices. Defensive end Courtney Brown, the No. 1 overall pick in 2000, was released after being plagued by injury throughout his career. Defensive tackle Gerard Warren, third overall the next year, was traded to Denver for a fourth-round pick. In fact, the Browns are turning over the team so much they decided to do away with their annual scrimmage sessions with Buffalo. ``We have too much to teach in a short period of time,'' Crennel said. ``When you play another team, even in a scrimmage, you have to spend some of that time getting ready for them.''
  21. POSTED 7:55 p.m. EST, March 22, 2005 TUESDAY EVENING ONE-LINERS The Bills have re-signed RB Joe Burns. The Pats picked up a three, a five, and a seven as compensation for 2004 free agency losses. The Ravens received a sixth-rounder as compensation for losing WR Marcus Robinson last year to Minnesota. New Ravens quarterbacks coach Rick Neuheisel is now focused on his new job -- instead of getting paid extra for his old one. The Bengals have signed S Anthony Mitchell to a one-year deal. Former Steelers LB David Little has died at the age of 46 after a weight-lifting accident that apparently resulted from a heart arrhythmia. The Texans are back in town for offseason conditioning drills. The Broncos got two third-round picks to compensate for 2004 free agency departures, which included DE Bertrand Berry and old/new Denver LB Ian Gold. The top three teams by way of attendance in 2004 were the Redskins, Giants, and Chiefs -- none of which made the playoffs. The Cowboys will travel to San Diego for the second-half of FOX's week one nationally-televised double header. Dallas is in the running for the 2011 Super Bowl. The Cowboys are getting two sixth-round compensatory picks. The Saints are hyping on their official web site the signing of six "key" veterans -- and most fans likely haven't heard of any of them. The 49ers re-signed Dwaine Carpenter and released WR Wendel Williams.
  22. 2004 annual says Solid skills to protect the QB, former hoops player has good feet, hands Left Tackle LJ Shelton has the quick feet to deal with speed pass ruhers and the girth to block the run effectively -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why not just fill the need & make the trade then we can focus on another position in the draft
  23. Tom Donahoe had mentioned that they probably would draft a TE Vincent Jackson could definately stretch a defense and create mismatches against TE's and Safeties
  24. I think most mock drafts have him going after the Bills pick in the 3rd round but I can see why he would go higher. This kid appears to be a stud.
