If the states getting hit hard now (FL, AZ, CA, TX) follow the same trend as the Northeast did the cases should be significantly down in cases by early August.  I think we should be a go to start the season and just hope that a second wave doesn't hit during it.

I don't follow your logic regarding the Northeast "trend".  The Northeast had case reduce due to a shut down and strict mask and social distancing protocols.

It didn't just randomly burn itself. The states you listed above are doing little to stop the spread of Covid.

The only way I see this season happening is putting the players, coaching staffs, and on-field personnel in isolation.  No physical contact with the outside world until a team's season is over.

Do you mean that all 32 teams will reside in the same bubble?

If not, then the "No physical contact with the outside world until a team's season is over" is over as soon as the first two teams meet.

Ironically, many of those that are going to be the most vocally angry about the NFL having to cancel its seasons are the very people who helped put is into this situation to begin with by refusing to listen to common sense and science.

You want football? Wear a mask. It's that simple. It's BEEN that simple from the start, but too many people just can't get it through their thick skulls.

Ha Ha - and the folks calling for the players to "suck it up and live in a bubble for six months" are likely the very same ones who refuse to wear a mask to the grocery store.

Go figure. It's almost as if there were a double standard or something...

I'm not going to read umpteen pages of comments to see if anyone posted this --

I'm betting there aren't any undrafted free agents who don't want to see training camps held.  Even late-round draftees can't be sure they'll have a job, when they haven't shown they can beat out someone on the squad from last year.  The incentive for veterans is to minimize the opportunities for coaches to find someone better than they are.

Without the coaching, and the game planning, and the stadiums, and the refs, and the TV announcers, and the crowd, and the fans at home --

-- all you'd have is a bunch of really good athletes playing in a park somewhere.  For free.

The NFL includes the players but it wouldn't be the NFL without all the rest.

    Agree!!!

How many coaches and staff have medical conditions that would make them more likely to have a deadly bout of covid-19?

Daboll? Take a peek at the photos of the 2020 Nfl Coaches.  Sure, those coaches can hide behind protective barriers but how could the league justify protecting some and not others?

It is sad to think that there are fans out there that are perfectly fine with sacrificing the lives of a few just for a few hours of pleasure on Sunday afternoons. Pitiful

Everyone who comes to this site every day want football this season.

Some folks realize that our Buffalo Bills are also people. People with lives and families.

Most professional athletes have only their body to make a living with. If their body fails them, well...

All professional athletes realize the risk they take, in their chosen sport, and know that their career could end at any time due to injury or decreased physical conditioning.

NONE of the current professional athletes signed a contract to go perform in inclement conditions. (electrical storm, etc.) None of them agreed to play in potentially deadly or possible career ending pandemic.

Dear lord Jesus, how many years have we as Bills fans waited to finally have a winning team?  I for one do not want to risk any one currently on our team, just so I can be entertained a few hours a week.

The players want to play. It is not wrong for them to demand that their environment is as safe as possible.

No fans allowed: New York State issues guidelines for reopening of pro sports

If the season started today, fans would also be banned from assembling outside the venue, and security would be in place to remove anyone who has gathered.

I’m absolutely sorry about your parents.  I too know people who passed from COVID.. Unfortunately both had underlying issues.

I also know a lot of people who have had it and barely even noticed and/or described it as a mild flu.

The second part of your post is ridiculous.  Those same people “wearing a mask around their chin” are going to do their thing regardless of going to a sporting event or not.  You can’t force responsibility on people.

Sorry you feel the need to judge/criticize 80% of the population but thats not everyone else’s problem.

This is why we cannot have nice things!

New Yorkers who are envious of Floridians, Texans, etc.

    Yeah, the good old days.

What about your freedom to drink and drive?

You share the doomsday theory many others do. There certainly could be truth in your assessment (it’s been 90 some odd years since the last one). Because the NFL is currently going full steam ahead for a full 2000 campaign, that’s the only truth we know today.

Until/unless something changes, onward we go with the best laid plans & precautions.

If reality equals doomsday it is a very sad world we live in today.

Pardon my French, but to Hell with your opinion.

Simply put, Players ARE going to get the virus. Most likely some of us too. They’re young & in great physical condition while being afforded the very best medical capabilities. The vast majority of people who’ve contracted the disease are not only fine within a month, they’re then immune.

    ”PLAY BALL!”!

The players may be young and healthy, but what about coaches and support staff?

Who wants to take bets on Andy Reid's chances? How about Romeo Crennel?

It is not just about survival either. Survivors are reporting long lasting issues. What if some young and healthy players recover but never have the endurance required to play pro football anymore.

This is not chicken pox. It just isn't that simple.

So at what point does it not be ok to fail to intervene?  Before he passes out saying I can't breath?  1 minute after passing out? 2 minutes?  After he is pulseless?

That the other three failed to intervene is more of a problem than kneeling on his neck. That is the problem.  Without video those three cops would have signed off on the lies in the police report and no one would have known the wiser.  And they would have been rewarded by their fellow cops for not saying anything.

I once believed it was up to good police officers to make a difference. But now I believe the only answer is video.  Every police officer must wear a body camera with no ability to turn it on/off.  Make every arrest video public.  With no video, any arrest should be tossed out.  We have all seen multiple events where the official police report does not match the facts including today's revelation of the report stating No Injuries to Breonna Taylor who was shot eight times.  No video, no conviction.  Simple as that.  That is the only way to rebuild the trust.

The question was about who served in Vietnam (era).

If you just asked about veterans that were Bills fans - no problem.

My uncle died in WWII. He did not live to be a veteran.

Memorial Day is to honor all of those who DIED in service to their country.

Just before 9 pm a motorist called 911 and reported a white Ford Superduty pickup pulling a trailer with a “dune buggy” on it. The driver reported they were westbound in the construction area of State Highway 242, between I-69 and FM 1485. They stated the driver of the truck was failing to maintain a lane and driving dangerously in the 45 mph construction zone. A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy was able to locate the vehicle and stop it on SH 242 near FM 1485. He then requested a DWI Certified Officer to the scene. The driver of the vehicle did have an open beer between his legs and appeared nervous. A Montgomery County Precinct 4 DWI Certified Deputy responded to the scene and performed a field sobriety test. He determined that the driver was impaired but by possibly something besides alcohol. The driver who is identified as Ed Oliver Jr., a Defensive Tackle for the Buffalo Bills and former player for the University of Houston. He was transported to Kingwood Hospital for a mandatory blood draw and then transported to the Montgomery County Jail where charges of driving while intoxicated were filed in addition charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon were filed. A search of his vehicle discovered a pistol but no drugs.

Let’s hope he gets off somehow and learns a lesson

What is the lesson learned when you find out that there are no consequences (get off)?

Understanding that there ARE consequences for our actions is what keeps us from "running RED lights".

THIS screams "not a process guy".

I suspect he will be on a very short leash with the Bills and McD.

    The best ability is AVAILABILITY!
