I see where you're coming from, Stank, but truthfully, I don't think you can lose a home game in late November to a team playing .300 football and call yourselves playoff-worthy.

    EXCEPT -

I just watched the Denver (3-7) vs Vikings (8-3) game and Denver TOTALLY dominated the Vikings the majority of the game.

Score was Den 20 - Viks 0 at the half. It was Den 23 and Viks 7 to begin the forth quarter.

DENVER is a formidable team - DON'T let the 3-7 fool ya!

Nice writeup, Shaw.  I thought you had one of the more measured and realistic takes after the Browns game and this is even better.

    I have one question:

Since Tre'davious White is a key player in our secondary, while Tremaine Edmunds is a key player in our front 7....

Does that mean the Bills defense is "Tre to Tre"?

I'm here all week.  Tip your waitress.

    "Tre to Tre" Tre-mendous!!

Notice both teams have 3 TO's left with 1 minute. Clappy's timeouts are long gone by then.

This is why I love this board!

The most important things in NFL football are:

    1. The number of unused Time Outs left at the end of the game.

    2. The number of Compensatory picks accumulated by the end of the season.

Here I thought winning was important...

For once in my life, I want the Bills to just go up 21-3 and put the game out of reach in the first half so I can just enjoy the game without being stressed the hell out!

I guess you have forgotten the Bills @ Vikings game week 3 LAST YEAR.

Bills 27 - 6. The Vikings were held scoreless until the final 3 minutes of the game.

The Bills and Josh Allen totally dominated that game!

  5. The way I have seen it is that Daboll does "take chances" but it "seems" that his play calling involves attempts at "trickery".  Calling a play that would be least expected; calling a long pass on 3rd and one (ex.)

Passing plays time and again instead of, the expected, hand off to Singletary to run it down their throats.  If we are gaining yards on running why switch to passing and abandon the run?

THAT is what make me question Daboll.

We need a true number one WR

it’s been clear from the start of the year and it hurts the overall offense

    Agree!!

I have watched a lot more games this year [Game Pass] and see other receivers making incredible catches on a regular basis. Then I re-watch our games and see Allen's passes bounce off the hands of our receivers with alarming frequency. [????]

Other QB's benefit greatly from having receivers pull in errant passes. While we have to pray that our guys can hold onto something that hits them on the numbers - FCOL.

.....how do you tell personnel to "play fearless" when you coach "fearful"?....like your offensive approach, but it will fall on deft ears with Dabumble.....SMH....

Maybe that was McD's way of telling Daboll to take the gloves off, without offending his [Daboll's] fragile sensibilities. ?

If Daboll does not get the hint, perhaps McD's gloves might come off...

Do you have any idea when we are going to work on developing that timing?

He's been a standout athlete his whole life, finished a college career, and played 21 games in the NFL.  Is it still too early to expect him to be able to hit a wide open receiver down field?

When might he work on that?

    Thanks.

Hitting a "wide open" STATIONARY target is not that difficult. But timing is required to hit a running receiver.

Remember, other than McKenzie, this is the first year playing with his other receivers.

WHEN - not my call - PERHAPS this is a question someone should ask his coaches.

Mr Silver Lining sez: I guess the good news is that Allen’s overall mediocre performance shows that he’s become quite an efficient short/medium range passer. Remember the knock on him was he’d air it out on the run and complete ridiculous passes way down field but then wildly miss on short passes and dinks and dunks ...

Daboll is creating a mobile Trent Edwards! (Maybe that’s not such a bad thing?)

    OR

Josh Allen has spent the entire off-season AND pre-season working solely on the shorter, intermediate throws and has not developed any timing on deep routes with his new receivers...

Something just popped into my head that I haven't really dwelled on very much before...

Especially in our division, which is generally full of bad teams and has been that way for a long time...

It is common for me to feel down in anticipation of that second game against division rivals.

This year, the Dolphins and Jets are perfect for this.

Do we really need to see either of those teams again?  These games are total non-events and we sure as hell don't need to play them TWICE in a single season.

Get rid of the double division games!  That rivalry era of football is dead anyway!

Funny to think of what the Pats would be saying just to avoid HALF of the season.

By the way - The Dolphins beat the Colts last week. They are not just laying down and giving up.

Depending on which Bills team shows up, we could lose to both the Jests and Fish!

Definitely this. NFL defenses are handcuffed enough already. Pass Interference should not be a 40-50 yard penalty.

As for preseason games, I don't mind if they play 4 games, but have all preseason games played in neutral sights. Have the games played at local college stadiums. The college teams aren't playing at that time and you can draw enough interest for some fans to show up.

It also helps season ticket holders out by not getting stuck to pay $250 for a meaningless practice game.

So, on a long, down field pass, defenders should just tackle potential receivers as a 15 yard penalty would be preferable to a much longer gain.

You know that would be a common occurrence.

When you’re outcoached by Freddy Kitchens, not much else can be said. McD is simply too rigid in his thinking, taking after Ron Rivera when it comes to playing not to lose. And Daboll continues to disappoint. He coaches like he has zero confidence in his players. Hard for players to play when their balls are held in a jar inside the medical tent.

    BINGO!

I have often felt like he is trying to "win" by trickery which implies his lack of confidence in his players.

Can they find someone else to call the plays?

One thing that dawned on me regarding the three losses this year..

    One was vs the Patriots

Two were against teams that essentially had their seasons on the line.

Seriously, when has desperation made any difference in skills?

JFC - WHEN will the Bills ever get that GD desperate?  We've all been waiting nearly TWENTY YEARS!
