What is the logic to taking the ball first?

Id much rather know what I need. Field Goal or TD

Agree. This was discussed in a thread earlier this year. If you take the ball second, and the opponent scores, you know exactly what you need and have four downs per series.

Benefit of kicking first is if you do get a stop, next score wins. It’s not that hard

Oh Von miller- you mean the guy who didn't play the back half of the season last year and the guy who got payed like 4 mil per tackle this year? The man was a healthy scratch this year for a game, that's how bad he was🤢

Diggs is close but I don't think he will make it - and he comes up small every time they play the chiefs, unlike what the chief elite players do to us

Tre white no way as injuries stopped that in 2021

I agree. I'm not sure if you read the convo in what I was saying to the other poster, but that's exactly what I'm trying to say about Lamar vs josh.

Where I disagree with though is "Josh beating Mahomes".

It is not boxing and a 1 on 1 matchup.

13 seconds game was Josh's fault?

Even this year. Diggs drops a 80 yard TD and our 5 mil kicker shanks a kick.

If Josh played bad against the chiefs I would agree. But the guy has been elite against the chiefs in the playoffs the last two times they lost and it's way more to do with the coaching/supporting cast than "Josh not beating Mahomes"

    Missed the earlier conversation.

I understand the sentiments of the defense failing Josh in 13 seconds. But Mahomes also won that game. So you gotta give credit to him there.

This past bills chiefs game, I definitely thought josh played better than Mahomes. Our defense was just too beat up. But in the end, all that people will look at is who won and who lost the game. All the minute details will be forgotten by most next season.

Lamar will prob have 2 mvps and Josh has 0- does that mean he's objectively better than Josh?

I don’t think anyone, outside of Baltimore fans, would rather have Lamar as their QB than Josh.  To me it’s pretty clear that Josh is the second best QB in the nfl behind Mahomes. Once Josh starts beating Mahomes in playoffs and getting some hardware we can reevaluate that comparison. But Lamar belongs nowhere near this conversation

I find it rather astounding that four of the most heartbreaking losses, probably the top four over the years for our Buffalo Bills, have centered around kickers and/or kickoffs.

Superbowl XXV- Wide Right, Norwood Kick.
Miracle City Miracle- Forward lateral on kickoff.
13 Seconds- Bad Kickoff resulting in tying FG taking game to OT with KC winning.
Bass missed FG- Bass missed kick that would have put us into OT (most likely) against KC.

Are we snakebitten when it comes to kickers?

Do we minimize the value of a good kicker?

Obviously not nearly as big as these, but the game Lindell missed on a wide right against Cleveland (I think it was probably 2008) was a pretty brutal way to lose that game as well.

The kickoff in 13 seconds was a contributor to that loss but not the proximate cause. That was the horrible defense and defensive calls after it.

A Bass make there most certainly does not “likely” get us to overtime and I can’t even understand why you would suggest that, other than it fits your flimsy narrative. Mahomes had way more than enough time to drive right back down in FG range or score a TD.

Agree. That was just plain stupidity from a strategy standpoint and players not thinking and acting on their own realizing the strategy is stupid.

That loss is still so frustrating today. Unbillievable

I’m fine going defense the remainder of the draft as long as we go WR with round 1.

I actually think we are pretty set at CB. But we will need some safety and DL help. If Milano is back healthy we are set at LB as well (Aside from depth)

I think going WR early is a no brainer. Davis will be gone. Diggs is likely on decline. Shakir is coming on. Diggs/Shakir/Kincaid should be enough for passing attack first half of season while the rookie WR adjusts and starts coming on 2nd half.

Totally agree. First pick should be WR. 2nd and 3rd picks should probably be safety and DL. Fourth I’d go WR again. We need weapons to fill out our room. Sherfield and Davis are gone, Harty will be cut. Isabella cannot be our 3rd WR. We need an infusion of young, fast talent.

Agree.  Brady was a bit hamstringed having to utilize the existing playbook.

I’m afraid this is gonna be the excuse used when the season starts off rough and our offense isn’t producing next year. That and it’s a new system, give it time. Hopefully I’m wrong. But the one thing we don’t have on our side is time with josh Allen only gettin older.
