  1. Margaret Thatcher, stating with remarkable clarity what conservative economics used to be all about: the other side "would rather the poor be poorer so that the rich can be less rich." That wisdom has been completely forgotten by today's so-called conservatives.
  2. And what I'm saying is that they would be happy with that. I mean, at least they think they'd be happy with that - an America that is a lot more like their nostalgic vision of the 1950s. Consumer goods cost more. There's less disposable income. Etc, etc. In reality, as soon as that starts to happen and GDP numbers reflect it, they'd be on to another political fad.
  3. More warped thinking. The President who stands up to Putin, just like Reagan stood up to the old Soviet Union, is apparently the enabler. The former President who loves Putin and wants to leave him alone to do whatever the hell he wants is the tough guy who would've stopped this. And the reason a Republican Committee chair thought it important to boost Biden's polling? I already know what their talking point will be starting later today: that Republican is a RINO. A Deep Stater. He's secretly committed to keep Biden in power because renegade Trump would dismantle his source of power, the support of the Deep State. You haven't said it yet because your puppet masters haven't yet given you the tweets to cut and paste here. That'll come soon. So all of you can save your breath. You are that predictable, and that unbelievable.
  4. No, they never rebut with references or data, because for them this is not about references or data. They are America's Putins. They are more interested in achieving what their particular view of American Greatness means. In other words, they don't care if overall standards of living decline in America or in the world in general. They care that America is considered the world's greatest industrial power, even if our comparative advantage is no longer in heavy industry. Just like Putin, who couldn't care less about the general standard of living of his people as long as his Russia is dominant in what he calls Eurasia. To me it is a bizarre and irrational thought process, but that's where we are. And that's why rational argument will never work with them, and why they refuse to engage in it.
  5. Not everywhere. Just amongst the people he loves with a manly passion. https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2020/07/07/michael-flynn-qanon-twitter-oath-video-orig-llr.cnn
  6. I'm watching the Georgia hearing about Fani Willis. It is not going well for her. Her friend just confirmed that Fani and her special prosecutor had a romantic relationship PRIOR to him being appointed/paid. That contradicts the prior affidavits they submitted. This case is going nowhere. Horny DA sinks her own ship.
  7. But there's a method to such madness. When the economy tanks, he'll be able to buy a pound of bacon again. Until he loses his civil engineering job and has to drive for Instacart delivering that pound of bacon to someone else.
  8. I understand the idea of using tariffs as a strategy to promote lower tariffs from our trade partners, a kind of tit-for-tat thing. But the history of that strategy isn't very promising. In general, tariffs mean consumer items cost more, and harm the U.S. economy. That part is abundantly clear.
  9. But he made the kicker miss the PAT.
  10. Tommy Boy Freaks Out; S&P Shrugs Off Retail Sales News, Opens Up .15%
  11. You mean the story about how a Republican House chair criticized the Biden Administration for not divulging information on Russia's Star Wars program?

  14. The degree of coddling of big time sports "student athletes" never ceases to amaze. That fateful national championship celebration night involved Carter, teammates, and the 24 year old girl who died (a football program employee of some sort) doing 104 mph all together. In a strip club. She had a BAC of .197. As far as I can tell, she was supposed to be the adult in that particular room.
  15. But Buffalo Pizza is the best pizza in the world. Can I come back in?
  16. Did I miss something? Did we conclude that Jalen Carter was NOT involved in the illegal street race that wound up with 2 dead? The most idiotic street race ever, involving a Ford Expedition and a Jeep Trackhawk? The one the he was involved in AFTER he had just been cited for driving 89 in a 45 mph zone? Jalen obviously has serious guilt issues. I agree - trash talking about an opponent's family is off limits. But I don't get why this is. He did it. Deal with it without lashing out at the guy across the line.
  17. Labatt's Blue is a crap beer. Chicken wings, I can take 'em or leave 'em.
  18. Hate Belichick, actually like Andy Reid. Hate Brady, actually kinda like Mahomes. Hate Gronk, Hate Kelce. Hate creeper Kraft, kinda like that wholesome Hunt family Pats 10/10, Chiefs 3/10.
  19. My first childhood football hero. Really. In his defense, he messed up his shoulder pretty bad that year. In 1970, he was a slightly more acceptable 3-8-1.
  20. Marangi probably edges out Peterman simply because he played more. 7 starts, 0-7 record. Peterman: 5 starts, and amazingly 1-4 because that one win was when we beat the Colts in OT with Joe Webb at QB. But I'll admit it, it's close ...
