This guy was advocating trading Matt Milano to get Mike Evans or DeAndre Hopkins, so yeah, he's pretty much muted to me at this point.

It was Milano, Oliver & our 2nd round pick for Mike Evans.😂 As I told him last night, he would suck as a GM.

Excactly.  You found out pretty quick who can play RB in the NFL.  The good contribute right out of the gate.

you guys and this Cook pipe dream....let it go, he's gonna be gone in a couple years.

Yeah, Cook was T-1st among RBs with a 5.7 ypc average. He also had the lowest number of carries per 20+ yard runs among RBs at a little under 15. The next closest RB was 22 carries per 20+ yard run, almost 50% higher than Cook's average. We'll being seeing him early and often next year.

    Thank you!

I keep seeing people saying we don't have him next season and comparing him to Tre.

But it's two separate things. One was a complete tear and complete reconstruction. One was a partial tear and repair.

Beane himself has said he expects to have Von for most of the season. Something he never said about Tre.

Correct. At his end of the year presser, Von stated the doctor's told him August. He also said he saw this as an opportunity to prove to his teammates how hard of a worker he was and was hopefully to beat the doctor's return date by 1 to 2 months.

How are the BIlls supposed to stop two other NFL franchises from completing a trade? They can't stop the Jets from trading for Aaron Rodgers. They couldn't stop the Dolphins from trading for Hill. If the deals are similar, I would think that the Cardinals would go to Hopkins and ask him for his choice. He would probably choose KC because

    • He would be WR #1
    • Better chance to win a SB on the defending SB champs
    • Wouldn't have to deal with 70-inch snowstorms.

Sure, the BIlls could probably get Hopkins right not for Oliver and #27, but that would be a massive overpay. Is that what you want Beane to do?

Don't tell him Oliver & our #27 pick is a massive overpay. Last night he wanted to give up Milano, Oliver & our 2nd round pick for Hopkins.😳 That would’ve gone down in Bills history as the dumbest move they ever made.

I think Harris is a more consistent chain mover. YPC might be the same, but my memories of Singletary are me getting excited after an early 20+ yard run and then a long string of relative ineffectiveness

Harris in his career has averaged a 1st down once every 4.15 carries, Singletary once every 4.12 carries.

Which team would you say had the better rushing attack?

NE with their backs averaging 5.0 and 4.4 YPC

    OR

BUF with their backs averaging 5.7 and 4.6 YPC

The one that had 1,700 yards from their rbs vs the one that had 1,400 from theirs even though one always played against stacked boxes and the other one always against light boxes.

You are absolutely right there is an injury risk. That comes with bruisers between the tackles.

I'll take injury risk with a bruiser with NFL size and physical traits vs a healthy guy that has none of it.

Hey I'm happy if you're happy with Harris playing in 70% of our games next year.

He was behind Sony Mitchel, James White, Rex Burkhead and Brandon Bolden.

BB still drafted him in the 3rd and he was the leading rusher the next year.

BB uses a RB by committee approach, each with specific roles.

That wasn't the case the last 3 years when he missed 14 games combined.

Better OL blocking against stacked fronts and defenses that didn’t have to respect NE’s passing game like they have to respect BUF’s.

James Cook averaged 5.7 YPC last year, but no one should try arguing that BUF had a better rushing attack.

And Stevenson averaged 5.0 for NE on 2.25 times the carries Cook had. And was the only RB on either team to have over 1,000 yards

Harris was a back up who signed here to get his 10 carries a game.  He's probably most famous for fumbling last yea and costing them a must win game.  He has a few inches about 10 pounds and and runs a 4.57 40.  He's not fast.  It's not like we signed Barkley.  Harris should be capable at being a little more physical than Singletary and hopefully does everything else roughly the same because Singletary was pretty good.  Anyone who thinks Motor didn't run hard wasn't watching as he put the Dolphins away in the playoffs.

He's not nearly the receiver Singletary is and had a hard time staying in the lineup over the last 3 years. That doesn't even count barely seeing the field at all his rookie year.

When it comes to YAC, BUF’s offense is friendlier for RBs. Harris had a washed up Cam Newton and noodle arm Mac Jones to take the heat off the running game…teams played the run time and time again. Defenses have to defend Josh Allen, preventing them from doing the same against Buffalo.

Cook, in his rookie year, averaged 5.7 YPC, a full yard higher than Devin. Cook and Devin share a lot of qualities, Buffalo needed a physical presence at RB to pick up the tough yards. The less we have to rely on Allen to do that, the better.

Harris had, by far, the better ol blocking for him all 4 years. Barely saw the field his rookie year and missed 30% of the last 3 years. As they say, best ability is availability.

This is honestly the worst analysis of running back production I've ever seen in my life.

Harris is so physically superior to Singletary is not even funny.

Singeltary played in one of the highest powered offenses in the entire league vs light boxes getting designed misdirection and draws and couldn't crack just 1k rushing. It's pathetic.

Harris runs between the tackles in an offense led by Mac Jones LOL.

This is like saying Cordarrelle Patterson is better than Derrick Henry because he averages more yards per touch LOL.

And the 14 games he's missed over the last 3 years, is exactly 14 games more than Singletary missed. He can't help us if he can't stay on the field. That's not an opinion it's a fact. Harris also had a better line to run behind.

You’ll catch hell but unless cook or Davis make a big jump it’s hard to say any position group is solidly excellent. There’s a lot of decent. Not much great or terrible.

Cook doesn't need to make a big jump, he just needs more touches. T-1st among all RBs with a 5.7 ypc average. Was T-14th among RBs with (6) 20+ yard runs even though he only had 89 carries. He was the only RB with a sub 15 carries per 20+ yard run. Matter of fact he was the only sub 20 carries per 20+ yard run. 2 RBs had 1 every ~22 carries, another had 1 about every ~25 carries. Everyone else averaged 1 every 28-30+ carries.

The Texans backup on a 1 yr deal.

You keep telling yourself this stuff bud, meanwhile reality awaits where everyone doesn't fawn over every player in a Bills uniform.

We just got significantly better on the ground today by both subtraction and addition.  Be happy!!

We did not get significantly better on the ground today. Averaged the same yards per carry in a much friendlier run offense and has missed about 30% of the last 3 seasons. He's just a different type of runner.

They both were drafted the same year, Singletary has 50% more rushing yards and more than 3 times the receiving yards. Both have 20 total tds in their career. Career scrimmage yards Singletary- 4,177  Harris - 2,375. Yards per touch Singletary - 5.0  Harris - 4.9

Ok, awesome. So Bell actually didn't even sign the tag and the Steelers let him go the next season. I just don't see Baltimore that, since Lamar is younger and also better, and a franchise QB. They want something and will try to force Lamar into his senses.

Pittsburgh had already tagged Bell once, so the one he didn't sign was the 2nd tag. Baltimore has got some time to figure it out before that happens.

Thank you for writing that. I realize it will cost them more, but my question is can he effectively refuse to play for most of those two tagged seasons (2023 and 2024) with Baltimore, and then effectively force the Ravens hand into releasing him for 2025, as the third tag would be too expensive?

I believe yes. Bell sat out his 2nd tagged year in Pittsburgh and then the following year they let him walk not wanting to use the 3rd tag on him iirc.

    Edit:

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2019/03/13/sports/football/leveon-bell-jets.amp.html

"After a strong 2017 season, in which he rushed for 1,291 yards and led the N.F.L. with 406 touches, Bell turned down a contract offer that was reported at five years and $70 million, citing the small amount of guaranteed money in the deal. He then refused to play on a franchise tag that would have paid him $14.5 million in 2018, hoping that his conviction could earn a shot at unrestricted free agency.

The gambit paid off, at least in terms of freeing him from Pittsburgh’s control, as the Steelers decided they would not use the franchise tag on him again, making him a free agent. In exchange for his signing with the Jets, Pittsburgh will receive a compensatory pick in this year’s draft."

"It is worth noting that if a player does sit out the year, the team can tag them again the following year, but it will escalate in cost. Sitting out a year does not mean the NFL team can keep them at the same cost the following season."

So he can sit out the whole year and the Ravens can tag him again next year, but it will count as the 2nd time tagged, not the 1st.

What’s the risk? These teams profit no matter what. You have to pay a qb no matter what and if they’re star qbs you pay guaranteed money. The qb position is the most important position in all sports and he’s top 5 at it.

These teams pay fired coaches so much they even had to warned by the league of how much money they were paying fired coaches.

If you want to make the case of Lamar being a top 5 qb after the 2019 or even 2020 seasons ok. There's no way he's top 5 after these last 2 years. Combined in the last 2 years.....33 passing tds, 20 ints, 5 rushing tds, 5 lost fumbles. That's 38 total tds and 25 total turnovers in the last 2 seasons. Add to that missing 10 regular season games and parts of 3 more and 1 playoff game.

Josh had more total tds(42) in a 16 game season this year. Matter of fact there were 3 qbs with more total tds just this year and 6 qbs had more than that in 2021 and 1 more had exactly 38. He should've hired an agent and signed when Josh did before the 2021 season.

    McKenzie had Josh Allen.

Okay, but 1 has been the #3/#4/#5 WR on his team and was the 172nd pick in his draft and the other has been the #1 WR or at worst #2 WR on his team and was the 15th pick in his draft.

But let's go with your thought, Tim Patrick has more tds(11 vs 9) on less targets(195 vs 269) on the same team with the same QBs. And he wasn't even drafted, he was an UDFA. Only has about 600 less yards than Jeudy also during that span. Again on 74 less targets.

No thanks. A big old pass from me.
