  1. Remember when the Bills traded a potentially future HOF RB, in his 3rd year, that was picked 12th overall for a mid round pick? That was a good idea...

Yeah, I'm all for teaching a double digit sack guy a lesson. Let's sit him and what should be 13 sacks and play Wynn and his 3.5 sacks. That'll teach him. As a Bills fan this is what I hope happens...

Totally understand what you are saying, but it was 10 sacks.

    EDIT: I'm a moron,sorry.

  2. Wonderful attempt at argument suppression. No one's entitled to have an opinion (on a message board no less) if they aren't right there with the team.

The players aren't responding to Marrone and he's frustrated. If you can't tell that from his statements to the media I don't know what to tell you. Remember the brief answers after the HOF game? What precipitated that, losing the most meaningless game of the year? Doubtful. It also doesn't help his future is murky at best considering the pending ownership change.

There's nothing more frustrating as a leader when the people you supervise aren't responding to what you're trying to communicate. And this most certainly isn't a case of tearing the team down to build them up. This is a guy who's stressed out that his message ain't hitting home.

You of course have the right to your own opinion, just like I do. There's too much unknown about who is mad, and to what extent. A couple reports said Doug took Jerry aside to talk, and it was calm and looked to be resolved. The other part you said was Doug needed to earn a reputation, while this is true ( All coaches do), it's not necessary needed to win. You used Tom Coughlin an example. I chimed in on that because I have talked to Tom many times, though sometimes only briefly. He's from my hometown and pretty good friends with my uncle. He comes to town a couple times a year and usually stops by my uncle's house for a couple hours (and a few beers). Sometimes a lot of his childhood friends are there and I don't get to talk football with him, but sometimes only a few are there and I can. He says he was nervous as hell coming to Jacksonville especially being a 1st year expansion team, but he couldn't show it in front of his team. In his own words he was a mean SOB, hard as nails coach and THE PLAYERS HATED HIM. He had coached at RIT for a couple years to barely a .%500 record. He was an assistant Parcells and Head Coach at BC for 3 years. He didn't have a rep. He was in a tough situation with an expansion team and they were horrible the first year. H e stuck with his guns and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th years went to the playoffs and two of those years went to the AFC championship game. Saw him in February and asked him about Doug. He said he reminded Tom of himself being a first time NFL Head Coach in a tough situation, trying to create the culture you want. Plus he said they both coached only a few years in college. He also said he knew Doug well and I quote " Have no doubt Doug will succeed with Buffalo, he's too good of a coach not to". I'm not trying to be a jerk here but I'm taking Tom's word on this one.
  3. Dam right, this is 100% correct. The Bills have been soft for 15 years, this is why we loose games in the 4th qt & opposing teams hit the bus laughing after paying the Bills. Who the hell does Jerry Hughes think he is ? He's been a classic under achiever & had 1 good year in a hybrid defense last year (thanks to the talent around him) Could you imagine this guy in training camp with Lombardi, Parcells, Coughlin, etc. Get rid of this ass clown if camp is too tough for him.

Also, how does the original poster know Marrone is a lame duck coach ?

Because he said so. How dare you question him. :nana:
  4. It's preseason, where the emphasis on winning is low. At least that's what I'm told on TBD. ;)

I'd be more interested in their discipline when the games actually count and if they go down to an opponent early. Still, it's amazing that a player like Jerry Hughes, with all of 1 decent NFL season, has no qualms criticizing the head coach in front of the whole team. Reading between the lines, if one guy feels that way it's likely there are others. That's not good.

Point is, it's one thing for a Tom Coughlin to run his guys. Even as the new HC for NYG he at least had been deep in the playoffs. But Marrone doesn't have that kind of track record and his act is not going over well. It's not just the Bills who need to eliminate the losing culture, it's the HC who needs to earn his reputation as well. And that remains to be seen.

A.) Knowing far too little maybe you shouldn't be reading between the lines. B.) Tom Coughlin was hired by the Jags in 1995 their first year. His hard ass approach got them to the playoffs in year 2,3, and 4. The latter they went to the AFC title game. Before that he was a college coach, sound familiar? I, for one, would take those results.
  5. WOW? Isn't this PRACTICE? I have never seen so many people write the season off before a game is played. It appears that many Bills fans may be under medicated. The Bills have one of the lowest penalized teams in the preseason and yet penalties are up by 44% over last year. I do not think the team or season is lost. I cannot imagine what would happen here is the Bills got shut out like the Niners in PRESEASON, EJ probably would have been burned at the stake.

Correction: He would have been tarred and feathered first.
  6. You forgot the "I'M SO F@#$ING DONE WITH THIS TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!111111111!!11!!1!!!". A goodbye thread is also a nice touch.

    Otherwise, top notch meltdown!

When did one person not having respect turn into the team not having respect?

Stop overreacting, and damn if your post doesn't read as if you are giddy about all of this lol. It brings new light to putting the need to be right over rooting for your team.

BRAVO SIRS :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:
  7. its not the 70s anymore buddy.

these guys have been pampered since little lad.

the fact that hughes was making cat calls on the sideline yesterday (because they've been in pads for 3 weeks), and then had the balls to call out marrone in front of the entire team (after marrone made them do sprints to really teach them a lesson), tells me all i need to know.

no one on the team respects this coaching staff. from the wet behind the ears OC who has yet to call a drive resulting in a touchdown through 3 games of preseason action with the starters, to dougie himself, of the illustrious .500 lifetime record at syracuse university and terrible in game decisions.

the entire team knows hes a lame duck coach who pegula will kick to the curb for schwartz, possibly before thanksgiving.

    what an absolute dissaster.

this could be ugly saturday night, this team might have quit before week 1.

this is going to be an awful season--i just hope it's spectacularly bad so it can be blown to high hell and a true rebuild can begin.

im talking bye bye russ, litmann, overdorf, whaley. EVERYONE.

i made a thread awhile back saying i hope we finish 0-16.

    i stand by it.

anyone who thinks this team has the ability to finish any better than 4-12 should take a long, hard look at what's in front of them.

what an absolute embarrassment of a team.

The biggest overreaction I've seen in awhile. Most people think this team is weak and timid year in and year out. It's about time we have a tough, physical team. Pampering them has not worked over the last several years. On top of that he told the team he didn't want to see any fighting and in the beginning of practice there was already scuffles breaking out. I, for one, welcome the change. Hoping your team goes 0-16? Doesn't sound like a fan to me. 19-0 BABY.
  8. If this is true Marrone is a fool. Most NFL HCs get one shot. When he agreed to come here he had to know that he would get one QB and that's it. It's worse now... anything less than playoffs and the new ownership is likely to fire everyone.

How do you know this? You don't even know who the new owner is, much less what he is thinking. What if they finish 9-7 or 10-6 and miss the playoffs. Bandit in another thread said if Pegs is the new owner Brandon, Whaley, and most likely Marrone are back regardless, and he usually knows what he is talking about.
  9. Marrone: "When he comes back, we'll be ready to go. I don't think one person is going to make or break it." His quote from his presser today. You mean the player you mortgaged your short term future to pick? That guy? Then we should know his condition. Marrone's act is getting old, quickly. And with the same results as prior coaches, he won't be long for here. I'm not a knee-jerk reaction guy, but I'm thinking this team has the wrong coaching staff.

BB has the right to act that way. He has 3 rings and wins every year. Plus he's a genius coach (as much as we hate to admit it). Some guys get to be jerks. Marrone doesn't. Further, we have doctors and trainers, etc. Give us a general timetable.

Didn't know you were the GM. I like him this way. He's 1 of only 32 people who have the title of Head Coach a NFL team, I have a hunch he's not losing sleep over your disapproval.
  10. Don't be so sure...the way some people project themselves, it really does seem that there are a select few that would rather he fail so that they can be right.

I know Bandit, at that point I don't believe your a Bills fan anymore. Thanks for all the work you do, especially in the team sale thread. Between you, Kirby, Kelly the Dog, Yolo, and Astro (I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two, and I'm sorry) You guys keep the rest of us well informed and you guys make this a better forum.

    EDIT: I forgot 26CORNERBLITZ THANKS.

  11. So it is EJ's fault that they want to run the ball in the red zone.........I mean is this where you are at as a fan?

    - Cant complain he doesnt throw deep

    - Cant complain that he doesnt convert 3rd downs

    - Cant complain that he is indecisive with the ball

Its like we are LOOKING for reasons.....now its touchdowns....so when he throws some touchdowns what will be the next bitching point?

BUT, BUT, BUT HE'S NOT PEYTON MANNING, HE WEARS A VISOR, HE STARES DOWN RECEIVERS, HE HAS BAD BODY LANGUAGE, HE HAS SLOW EYES, HE'S DONATING $500 FOR EVERY TD (WHAT A CHEAPSKATE), HE SUCKS AT THE READ OPTION, HE DOESN'T HAND THE BALL OFF RIGHT, HE DOESN'T PUT HIS MOUTHPIECE IN ON RUN PLAYS, HE'S NOT ACCURATE, HE'S NOT BIG BEN, HE'S NOT BRADY, HE DOESN'T SHOW GOOD LEADERSHIP. Whew! I'm tired, I'm sure I forgot some but that was off the top of my head.

EDIT: i REMEMBERED A FEW MORE, HE DOESN'T SLIDE, AND GETS INJURED TOO MUCH.
