Chan Gailey actually out-smarted Bill Belichick, brilliantly used the clock, and snuck a win out against him.  The game in Buffalo.

    More than McD has done.

Remember that game?  Remember BB running around as the clock struck zero screaming and yelling and whining?!

It's like his ego couldn't handle being beat at his own game.

One of the better Bills moments in recent years if you ask me.

I’m with him, 5-2 is not a bad place to be. I hope you’ll keep posting when we are in the playoffs

Star has been fine. He doesn't do what the fans want him to do, but that's irrelevant, because he has done what McDermott wants him to do. He may (or may not) have regressed this year but he did his job last year. It's not a mistake that our defense has been very very good since we brought him in, nor that they've done well against the run. (23rd in YPA in 2017 without Star, 9th in YPA in 2018 with him and so far 15th this year even after our worst game against the run in recent memory, in which Star played well, as Joe B. noted).

Benjamin got us to the playoffs with that game in the snow. And with his history, it was a move that had a good chance to work. It didn't, but it was a very reasonable move at the time.

Our RBs have also been fine. And while we could use more from our WRs, when you look at the resources we spent on them, they've all worked out except Zay. Brown and Beasley have been worth it and we didn't spend many resources on anybody else. That may well change next year but so far most of their WRs have been worth what we paid for them or more.

Agreed with the rest. Scheme fit is an underconsidered part of whether guys work out somewhere.

I just expect more from Star with his salary, Benjamin wasn’t worth the price either. Brown and Beasley are both good but they are 2nd and 3rd WR’s we need a big strong fast A+ receiver as a #1. We’ve hit on two receivers since we’ve had McBean but we need a great #1.

  4. Star is a mistake with that contract. Benjamin was a mistake as well as pretty much any of the Panthers players we brought in. We are playing money ball now as a lot of teams are. I think we have great coaches but we make some poor decisions with RBs (except Singletary) and receivers. However, with that said we are a good team but we need a piece or two on the offensive line, a piece or two on the defensive line (edge rusher too), Lorenzo’s replacement and an A+ wide receiver.
Every regime selects players for their team vision. A lot of things look like mistakes when the next guys scheme doesn’t jive with the player. All things considered, I think Rex had the worst selections (all the Jets players, Percy Harvin etc..).

Not an excuse. Been here long enough to have a say in who we have. And other Bills teams or teams around the league have done more with much less talent.

Really? Who is better than 5-2 with much less talent? I’m pretty sure everyone ranks our roster near the bottom of the league. Coaching is not the major issue. Tell it to the fishes.large.C94EA9E4-D53F-4618-9E02-2F8DDFEF05E7.gif.a9f7ef5b2514ffffd2d5c191077d831c.gif

Let’s forget about playoffs in his first year. Forget about being 5-2 despite the purging of players to free up cap space over the last year and some change.
It’s all going to hell right? I’d love to see your posts when we make the playoffs or god forbid... we win a post-season game!

Let me start off by saying not a chicken little thread and I know that we are 5-2 and still have a favorable schedule to get to the playoffs. But that also goes to what I am about to say.

Let’s say the Bills do not right the ship. If this season goes like seasons in the past of collapsing down the stretch after a 5-1 now 5-2 start does McD survive?

With all the talk of the DNA and Standards and Process you you think McD survives a Bills collapse?

BTW add another Blowout loss to the McD resume.

wow, get a grip we are 5-2. We lost a game for crying out loud. It kinda happens to basically everyone and more than 2 losses in a season is common.

  8. WR with great speed always produced here even in the cold weather games. We need accurate deep passes though which we aren’t getting right now. So basically I’m saying that if we don’t start getting some big, fast and strong WR soon then let’s get a dome.

  9. We need to run more and run with Singletary. I know we all like gore and he’s not even bad but Singletary is better. Singletary is going to be Josh Allen’s security blanket and we should start consistently using him. Gore needs to be our backup, he’s got stuff in the tank for sure but I think we have a better option. Someone else said it already but on a windy day with effective blitzes and a defense that is struggling, running the ball is the only solution. We just kept giving them the ball back.

Yeah, that sub-50% completion percentage and putting the ball on the carpet 3 times had nothing to do with the outcome of this game.

D got run over in 2nd half and that played a role here too, along with our own run game not working well.

But suggesting Allen isn't involved here is just a defense mechanism to make you feel better about where the team stands.

Allen doesn’t play defensive line. Also, did you notice how many drops there were today? Go tell the fishes that it’s all Allen’s fault.

I'm one of the bigger Allen supporters you will find on this board and honestly I don't see anything wrong with what this guy said at all regarding Allen and the game he had today.

Josh Allen playing football absolutely is an adventure. To me that is another way of saying he is a gunslinger and then some. The then some being his ability to escape the grasp of monstrous D-lineman and break off back breaking runs. And we all know his "gun" has been off big time on his deep ball. Can't really think of one he has completed this season. But honestly, I couldn't careless. The guy is still a beast of a QB who is only getting better and learning more with each passing game. He's a franchise QB. Not without his flaws but here to stay. I wouldn't want Allen to play the game any differently then the way he does.

    For what exactly?

I wouldn’t want it differently either. I think the guys criticism was way over the top. His smooth over job at the end didn’t approach the level of the exaggerated criticisms in my opinion. I’ve said it a lot and I’ll say it again; “Josh Allen’s positives out way his negatives by a lot”. The guys write up just stinks of “I have to make my deadline/didn’t watch the game”.

Oh it does? Do touchdowns have a lot to do with winning? Because Watson has ~ 10 TD’s more than Josh does this year. Do interceptions have a lot to do with winning? Because Watson has thrown less than half as many as Josh has. Actually, Josh has thrown 1 less career INT than Watson has and Josh has played 12 less games.

    But sure. You’d take Allen.

Just so we’re clear; winning counts as winning and I’d take Allen. Mostly because he’s won more this year. I’d take Watson’s receivers though.

I bet you’d really like to have Orton right now btw.large.291CDF3A-9089-4943-89DA-80224B22C704.gif.e5bada5d0983937ab14941fea527f775.gif
