  1. Mahomes's scouting report is eerily similar to Derek Carr. STRENGTHS Athletic with very good feet -- can roll the pocket, evade the rush or escape when pocket crumbles. Terrific arm talent -- releases from the ear and can make all the throws. Quick-armed with wrist snap. Can alter his platform and throw on the move or off his back foot. Throws come out on time and accurately. Drills short-to-intermediate throws and flashes touch. Likes to play and it shows. Sells out to make a play. Record-breaking production. Adapted to coaching/system change and receiver turnover. Improved ball security -- fumbled only once as a senior compared to 12 times the previous two seasons. Desirable intangibles for the position -- advanced maturity, leadership and intelligence. Shows poise and moxie. On-field general who commands the huddle. Passionate about the game and works at his craft. WEAKNESSES Lacks ideal height and has relatively small hands. Bulk is just adequate. Could stand to improve as a deep passer. At times tries to do too much and forces some throws. Occasionally throws off balance unnecessarily and sails some throws. Operated out of the shotgun and pistol and made a lot short/lateral throws and half-field reads. Production is inflated by spread offense and porous Mountain West Conference defenses -- nine 2013 opponents (excluding an FCS opponent) ranked between 81st and 125th nationally in scoring defense and/or passing defense. Had his worst game in the Las Vegas Bowl against USC. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/derek-carr?id=2543499
  2. I would take John Ross off my draft board. The injury history with both knees and he does not project as an elite #1 WR. He will be a nice guy to run vertical routes but you can get a guy like that far cheaper than 10th overall.
  3. POST-6/1 RELEASE2018 Dead Cap: $3,080,0002019 Dead Cap: $5,560,000 8 Million dead cap no matter what
  4. I watched every Dick Jauron game. So I'm here for McDermott. Doesn't mean I have to like it!
  5. I didn't want to address 2013 to 2016 because there are way too many variables. Suffice it to say that the Bills added Sammy Watkins, Ritchie Incognito, John Miller, Lesean McCoy, one of the NFL's best run game coordinators, and a starter in TT who can provide marginal starter QB play.
  6. You are optimistic, that's great. He just does not inspire confidence in me. It also is important to note that the Pegulas made the hire. Their track record is horrendous so far. 0-6 with Bylsma soon to make that 0 for 7.
  7. EJ Manuel is terrible. Just because Tyrod can beat EJ doesn't make him this incredible piece.
  8. Hate not getting a QB but love Jarrad Davis and Chris Godwin. These should both be high on the Bills list. Godwin can be a difference maker and a great #2 WR with size and speed. His numbers at the combine were outstanding to go along with college production.
  9. Absolutely. Sean's defense wasn't better than Rex's last year. Should have kept Rex until we had an upgrade. I hear 2018 will be a much better pool of coaches to choose from. Don't want to risk picking a mediocre or bad coach.
  10. How do we like the same players?! Yes, I like Davis much more than other linebackers people mention.
  11. Actually, there is plenty of tape on Tyrod and the Bills have never shown much urgency at the QB position. It's always an afterthought. Tyrod's contract goes to 18 million next year. If they cut him that's 6 million of dead cap. And that assumes they have drafted and developed a QB. I'll believe it when I see it. McDermott has never been a head coach or general manager. As a defensive coordinator he ran a bland 4-3 zone scheme. I see nothing to get excited over and there are now red flags that he is too conservative. The Tyrod signing screams fear to me and someone not comfortable in his role here.
  12. Based on what? Just curious.
  13. My favorite theory is that Greg Roman and Anthony Lynn were working to hide Tyrod's incredible passing. The third choice on the Bills offensive coordinator chart (the first two turned us down) will unleash the Tyrod in 2017. Go Bills!!!
  14. They would? Absolutely disagree.
  15. 3 reasons the Bills should draft: QB Patrick Mahomes: Buffalo News 1. He put up big-time numbers with a big-time arm. As a junior, Mahomes set a single-game FBS record with 819 yards of offense. He totaled seven touchdowns (five passing, two running) in a 66-59 loss to Oklahoma, part of a season in which he threw for 5,052 yards, 41 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 12 games, averaging 49 passes per game. Most scouts agree Mahomes has the best arm talent of any quarterback in the class, a trait that takes on even more importance in Buffalo, where games are frequently played in the cold and wind. 2. He disputes the idea he's a product of the system. Mahomes played in the Air Raid offense, which has not translated well to the NFL for quarterbacks. It's full of quick passes and predetermined reads, but Mahomes said he practiced taking snaps under center every day, while also running some play action. "We ran some NFL stuff," he said... http://buffalonews.com/2017/04/08/3-reasons-bills-draft-qb-patrick-mahomes/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOxW_xLxRaQ
  16. If I trade for Wentz today what the Eagles gave up is irrelevant. I pay what I want and don't care if they overpaid.
  17. That reasoning would prevent drafting Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, Drew Brees, etc. Other teams might not know what they are doing, you have to trust your own evaluation.
  18. There are very good NFL prospects in 2017. People want can't miss but I think if you see a Derek Carr level prospect pull the trigger.
  19. That's not the right question. The Eagles investment is a sunk cost. How much could Wentz get? Minimum a 1st rounder? Tyrod? Maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder. I doubt even a 2nd.
  20. And as one wanting a QB I could justify an elite DE over an outside LB any day.
  21. Based on no NFL team would rather have Tyrod than Carson Wentz.
  22. Next year is my plan B. If Mahomes or Trubisky are there we can acquire them now and if they are busts we can fall back on our 2018 1st rounder. Which will be higher because we didn't spend another draft plugging holes in the roster. And that is crucial if we want a good player. 2004 was a better class than next year and we got ZERO out of it.
