  1. Spring football has been around off and on the last few years as we all know. But this year, the XFL and USFL have merged in an effort to put better football on the field and the league is kicking off with the XFL Champs vs the USFL Champs from last season. Kickoff is about ready to happen. Who knows what the quality of football will end up being with the merger of leagues, but it might be worth a look if you are having a football craving. There are some very familiar names in the league and they will obviously have presentation features that the NFL doesn't, but may someday.....who knows.
  2. Look....I know he doesn't want to point fingers, and no, I don't know who made all the individual calls, but I'm sorry.....if you are an NFL head coach, especially a defensive minded head coach, you kill that time off every time and it's not ever even close. Heck, most people that just watch and understand the game and never have coached a single down of football gets you out of that game with a win. 1. Squib kick - Probably gets you down to single digits and the Chiefs have 2 plays maximum. 2. Safeties deep and corners jam everyone off the line. You either force an incompletion, or a moderate completion. Either way, you are burning almost the rest of the time off the clock. I mean, the game can't end on a defensive penalty, but get super physical at that time. Force the refs to call something. If they do, you get a penalty, but depending on what's called, who knows.....you still take valuable time off the clock while sacrificing little yardage. 3. Force the hail mary at worst. You execute the 2 things above, at worst you are forcing a prayer at the end and not letting them even have a shot at a FG. And the thing is, there are even more ways than what I laid out here to get out of this game with a win. It isn't rocket science. In fact, it is closer to common sense. It shouldn't even be a thing that NFL coaches have to necessarily prepare for. Killing 13 seconds shouldn't be a concern. So yeah.....I don't know who made what calls in that sequence, but if you ask me, your head coach should be able to take over that situation, lay it all out, and get out of the game. You will not convince me the Chiefs were the better team on the field. They definitely had the better coaches on the sideline, though.
  3. Sure.....providing that he takes a completely non guaranteed fully incentive-laden deal.
  4. The problem I see with this is that a lot of these tackles happen by circumstance, not because players are trying to hurt each other. Just about all these clips show the offensive player getting out in front of the defensive player so the defensive player has to grab the player and pull them to the ground. I guess I am not seeing how, at full speed, they want the defensive player to tackle the guy that is trying to run away from them. They can't go high because the offensive player will just run through it. I guess they could try and trip them around the knees or ankles or something, but will that really limit injuries or will it create more? This is going to result in a lot more broken tackles because offensive players are too big and strong to not just be wrapped up and dragged down. I don't know. I guess if they unanimously voted it out there must be a plan, but I just don't see a lot of ways to tackle a guy that gets ahead of you in open space without wrapping up. It is a lot to ask of defensive players.
  5. I know we have The Comeback game.....the largest comeback in Playoff history. They show this game from time to time and that's great. But man.....I think that is the only iconic game that is replayed with regularity that we actually win. Most of these "classic" games come on that we're in and I just want to wash my eyes out will hot peppers. We're in a ton of the games, and not one do we actually win. It's so frustrating. They play the Chiefs Playoff games, both I would argue we were the better team in and should have won but we give them away. They play the MCM game. They play all the freaking Super Bowls. I'm sure there are others as well, but I just can't change the channel fast enough. I lived through all these games live, I don't need to relive that pain again. I just wish we'd win a couple of these iconic games, a Super Bowl or two, just to have something to smile about when these games show up.
  6. DE/Pass Rush, DT, S, WR, LG still need upgrades in my opinion. There are some other spots that could use work, but are passable with the starters. I realize you can't have all pros at every position, but you still need solid play. While I do think Von will be better this season than he was last, it's still hard to project him being a double digit sack guy like he was before the injury. AJ was nice to keep for depth, but he runs so hot and cold, you never know what you are going to get week to week. I like Groot, though, and think he will improve once again this season. But, there is no doubt we could use some extra pop off the edge. In terms of DT, Oliver is is stud. Jones is really good too if he can stay healthy. But, we could use another 3 tech with some real pass rush ability. I don't want to have to see Ed out there for 75% of the snaps. Hard to keep him fresh for the playoffs with that load. Safety is tough. We are so used to having Hyde and Poyer back there holding things down, but it became very obvious to those that have watched those guys closely over the years that they just couldn't run anymore. They played hard and with the vet instincts they had, but they were not the same players last year. Did we upgrade there, though? Maybe athletically, but I am not sure we can expect them to be better than Hyde and Poyer were even last year. We could use another playmaker back there for sure. WR is still an obvious need. While Samuel is an upgrade over the room we had last year, I'd rather him be featured in the slot and not outside. Over 70% of his snaps have come in the slot the last few years and I want him and Shakir to share the load there. I look at Samuel/Shakir as an upgrade to Sherfield and Harty. I still want another beast on the outside at WR2. Finally, the Edwards/McGovern switch. I thought McGovern was pretty solid overall last season. Wasn't perfect or flashy, but he was solid for the most part. Can he make the move to C? I don't know. Maybe. But to say he will be better than Morse was is a bit of a reach. He was still playing very good football for us last season. Hopefully McGovern can make the switch and holds it down for us for the next several years, but I am not ready to call him an upgrade at C yet. Edwards.....to me is a backup. He was great in his role last year, but to me, there is no way he is going to be better for us than McGovern was for us at LG last year. I think we could use another home run Guard pick like Torrence was last year to compete for that spot. Regardless, I do think our demise that the talking heads are proclaiming is being severely overblown to nobody's surprise. Are we better? I am not ready to say that yet. If we can hit one 2 year one starters at key positions in the draft (ie. WR, S, and maybe even a G), then I will say the same thing I have been saying over the last several year......anything is possible because we have Josh Allen. But we still need to get him some more help and hit on some studs in this draft.
  7. Well, that's a positive I guess..... We just need to find a way to fill the holes we still have and find a way to pass this team by....
  8. At least they didn't get another first or something crazy like that...... But, they got something for an asset and while I am glad he's off their team, it stinks that they are probably going to be able to add a good, young, cheap piece in the draft.
  9. The best thing anyone can do with a Diggs' Tweet? DON'T TRY READING INTO IT. You are better off ignoring it than trying to figure out what it means. He's a Buffalo Bill. He has a contract that is pretty much un-tradable. Even if he isn't a top 5 WR anymore, it doesn't mean that he isn't good. He works extremely hard. He plays with an attitude and fire. Whether he actually 100% wants to be here doesn't really mean anything. He will play extremely hard on the field for us next season. He's already come out and said he knows his tweets get people talking. Heck, even Dawkins took a page out of his book and messed with fans and media just last week! These players know they draw attention with whatever they do. For better or worse, a lot of them just crave the attention and want to be noticed and talked about. Others rather go about their business and not draw any attention to themselves. Our QB is like that...... Our WR is not. But it doesn't mean he doesn't want to be here or play for Buffalo anymore. Just leave it be and he'll be on the field by mandatory mini-camp like he is every year.
  10. Hoping another WR needy team that is planning to draft one in the first round takes him and decides they can wait until later in the draft to take theirs. If he would be happy taking a severe prove it discount just to play with Allen, then I would look at it, but he is going to want way more than what I am ready to offer. I want new blood. I want young, cheap, explosive talent that can come in and hold down the number 2 role until he is ready to replace Diggs as the long term #1. Williams isn't that at all.
  11. Good for him that he gets to land somewhere if he wanted to keep playing. We know by watching him over the last couple years that, while he plays with heart, he just can't run anymore. He plays through it, but he gets banged up easier as well. It's going to be tough seeing him wear those ugly threads, but he's not a safety anyone fears or has to gameplan for anymore. Hope he stays healthy and wins about 5 games this season.
  12. Thad Brown @thadbrown7 DaQuan Jones back with the #Bills. Per his agency, 2 years/$16M. $10.5M guaranteed. Seems a solid contract for both sides. And Buffalo keeps a huge part of their defensive line. Really good move. 10.5 guaranteed so that means 5.5 mill in various bonuses. Not too shabby. He's a dominant force when he plays. Just need him to stay healthy.
  13. Beane After Dark is rollin' once again. Here's hoping there are a bunch of incentives to reach those numbers, particularity games played.
  14. The player has steadily been getting better, but it seems like his productions comes in spurts. Hoping the money is modest and is more based more on incentives than guarantees.
  15. Everyone on this forum counting down the hours and minutes until the sun goes down and the sky turns black...... Beane doesn't do anything until that darkness hits.
  16. Now the 4th highest paid tackle in the league...... I love the guy, but man, that's a lot of money. Hopefully there's some outs if needed.
  17. No.....and that's a big part of the problem. We are every bit as good as the Chiefs in a lot of ways, mainly thanks to Josh. But with the games we play against them, it is always guys like Kelce and Chris Jones......HUGE IMPACT PLAYERS, that ultimately beat us in the end. We don't have players like that, outside the QB position, that can turn a game by themselves. Diggs is supposed to be one of those guys, but he disappears in the biggest moments against that team.
  18. C. Jones or C. Wilkins Trade for JJ Oh wait.....you probably mean something realistic..... Mooney Chinn D. Jones
  19. Mahomes got the MVP because of name value. But anyone that watched that game knows Chris Jones was the MVP and the main reason they won. Everyone is calling it one of the best Super Bowls ever. No way. It was a great finish, but that game was absolute trash for almost the first 3 quarters. And the main reason the Chiefs weren't already out of the game for good was Chris Jones. He was the most dominant player on the field.
  20. He wasn't getting cut this year no matter what with $60 mill in dead cap..... Maybe next season, but not this season. He wasn't going anywhere.
  21. I don't want to hear one time this season that Von isn't a team player. He didn't have to do this. This is a team first move all the way. Immediate cap savings and he is betting on himself which means he'll be going all out every snap to try & make plays to hit those incentives.

  23. I know....30+ feet is overkill. Just trying to be a bit over the top. But I don't think 25' should be out of the question.
  24. With owning my own business, and the weekends being the busiest days of the week for me, buying season tickets was never going to be something that I could consider doing. I always try to sneak in at least 1 live game a season, but time just really doesn't allow me to do anything but watch on TV for the most part. So, in regards to the new stadium, I try not having too many criticisms about it because, while I would love to be there every week, I know this is a venue I won't be able to spend much time at. That said....do I have some things I wish were different, of course. Not having a venue that can be used year round for major events besides football doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But, then again, it was never going to be up to us. They were always going to build the stadium they wanted to build at the cost they deemed appropriate. But does that have to mean it's going to be bad or inferior to other new stadiums being built? Absolutely not. I am sure we won't have all the bells and whistles of a So-Fi Stadium or whatever, but does that make it worse? I don't think it does at all. I honestly believe that they put their best effort into this design and it will probably blow people away......even the people that are doing nothing but complaining about it before even seeing it for the first time. Will it have everything everyone wants? Of course not.....it doesn't have a roof, so some people just trash it because that was the main thing they were looking for. God forbid they wait and see everything else it may offer besides that. I wanted a roof too. I just think it was the logical choice given the area and expecting it to be a venue with the potential to host just about every major event out there at any time of the year. But they didn't go that way. It is what it is. Doesn't mean I am just going to just trash the rest of the stadium before ever stepping foot inside of it. The Bills will be here for the rest of my life. This stadium pretty much ensures that and that is the biggest amenity that this new stadium offers. Everything else is gravy. The thing is, I think that "everything else" is going to be so much better than most are even imagining. Enjoy this process. It really is a good thing even if it is not exactly what you personally had hopes for. PS...... The Buffalo statues should be a lot bigger than 16 feet, though. I see what they are trying to do, but at least one of them should be almost double that size.
