I call it winning. Whatever they did worked.

The Chiefs made a great decision to trade Tyreek Hill, even though he's great, and used the salary cap space to keep other players and received 2022 1st, 2nd, and 4th picks and 2023 4th and 6th picks.  In the 2022 draft, the Chiefs traded up in the first round and took CB McDuffie.  I believe that Beane wanted McDuffie over Elam.  Just my hunch.  Anyway, a great trade for both teams and the Chiefs reloaded with young cheap guys and still won the Super Bowl.  They also drafted RB Pacheco in the 7th round.  Andy Reid is just killing it in KC.

I think Brandon is generally pretty good at the end of the season at reflecting, owning where he has failed and adjusting. The one spot where I see less of that is his approach at DT where he keeps on every year going after these mid level vets to pad out the roster.

I'd like to see them do something different next spring. If the likes of Eli Ankou, Justin Zimmer and whatever dumpster dive vet we get now in week 9 can come in and offer little to no drop off it tells you that continually cycling through these $3-6m contracts on veteran backups isn't a good allocation of resources.

Are you hinting at drafting a 1DT fairly high in the draft, say 2nd or 3rd round?  That's what I'd like to see.  Re- sign Jones to a 1 yr deal too.  Draft WR in the first rd.

I don't think he is an upgrade on our starters. Admittedly haven't seen a lot of Green Bay this season, but have seen a lot of Douglas since he came out of that good 2017 draft class. The Eagles ended up cutting him, 3 years after spending a 3rd on him because teams CONSTANTLY targeted him then he bounced around practice squads before sticking in Green Bay. No team in the NFL has misevaluated DBs as consistently as Green Bay in the past decade.

For a 3rd with a 5th coming back I really do not like this. I think he is a better fit in our scheme than Elam but he is a lateral move from Jackson and Benford for me.

Maybe he has suddenly improved a ton and will prove me wrong but man I hate this deal.

I like Rasul Douglas but if he doesn't beat out Jackson, I don't understand giving up a third round pick for him.  So I'm hoping GB that he's improved since you last saw him.

I agree in principle. A replacement for Tre is needed ASAP. He isn’t going to  get back to the player he was and I don’t think we will see him in a Bills uniform again. The Bills might be able to work a trade - and let’s face it, even first round CBs don’t always work out (obviously). So it’s not about the draft capital so much as it is about the contract. I don’t know how the Bills manage to add a top of market CB contract at this point.

I agree with you.  Beane is a creative cap guy and if they really want Johnson, I think Beane will make it happen.  The salary cap will likely go up again, they can kick some of Allen's salary down the road, if you're right about Tre White - they can  save cap space by cutting him.  If they trade for Johnson, it'll impact some players that they may have wanted to re-sign.  The CB room is a mess right now.

I want Beane to get this done.  I don't think he probably will, but this is the type of player you make a big deal for.  Super young, super talented at a premium position.  You most likely will not get a talent this good in the late 20s or in the 30s of the draft.  Do I want to give up a one?  No, but it should be talked about.  If I could get him for Elam, a 2, and maybe another late round pick, I do it in a heartbeat.  If that isn't good enough, I might consider a 1 and more for the player and a pick coming back.

This is not a rental situation.  This is someone you are committing to for a long time and with his age, it is a lot easier to make a big contract work because you can stretch it out for so long.  I'd love for this to happen, but huge deals for these young, great players don't happen a lot at the trade deadline.  That said, if we don't get it done and someone else does for a fairly reasonable price, I will be pretty frustrated.  Opportunities like this don't come around very often.  Come on, Beane......make this happen.  Take the swing and see if we can legitimately get back into the title picture this season.

This may be one of those rare moments where Beane is willing to trade a 1st round pick.  With White injured again, Jackson a FA after the season, and Elam not panning out, the CB room is rather shaky right now.  I like Benford but he's had some injuries too.  If they get Johnson, it immediately shores up the position.

  6. I hope they keep throwing the ball to Shakir.  If he sucks like most people think then perhaps the Bills will replace him next year.  If he does well, it will help the Bills win more games.  It makes no sense to have a WR get the amount of snaps he's been getting and not throw the ball to him 5 - 7 times a game.  That lack of involvement just makes it easier for the opposing defense to focus on Diggs, Davis and Kincaid.

  7. Shakir 10 targets 10 catches the last 2 games.  Allen was getting rid of the ball quickly and spreading it around.  The Bills offense was clicking in the first half and it didn't look as difficult to move the ball as it has in other games.  Kincaid looks really good already.  Hopefully Shakir can be a solid WR3. Having 4 guys that Allen trusts would be huge for this offense.  Diggs is awesome but need to get steady production from other guys.

I wasn't overly concerned when this was going on earlier in the year given we had Tre, Benford and Dane and maybe they were just wanting to see him make some improvement in parts of his game.  Especially since he showed some promise late last year.

However, if Elam can't get on the active roster over Norman at this stage, then that is a lot more concerning and tells me he is either part of trade talks or he really has fallen way out of favor with the staff in some way.  Because there is no reality where Norman should be active tonight, so I think this is more likely because Elam is in some trade talks.

And if he ends up not being traded, I have a feeling he will be active next game over Norman.

Agree with this.  Unsure of the timing but believe they'll promote CB Ingram to 53 if Elam is traded.
