    Playing scared-- like their coach.

The team has taken on the personality of their coach.  They all sound like him during their media interviews before and after games.  They tighten up just like their coach.  I hate watching Allen do almost everything right and we lose like that.  McD finds a new way to lose time after time.  Terrible clock management, terrible usage of timeouts, terrible defensive playcalls in the 2nd half.  A complete defensive collapse by our HC/DC.

It is beyond time for him to hand over the DC reigns. That has not worked.

His game management is truly terrible.  He needs to go.

People are angry and justifiably so in a lot of areas. I still think they go one more with Mcdermott. When/if that fails they’ll clean house and partially gut what’s left of the roster.

One more game or one more season?  They have 5 more games.  Fans are on edge as it is.  They were booing at the Broncos game.  I don't recall fans booing before with McD as coach.  I get that fans boo but I think fans are starting to turn on McD.

Just because the prostitute down the street did a good job for you the past few years, but never could get the job done don't mean you have to keep paying her when her services are old and tired. You replace her with a new one with more skills right down the street!

This is not a Bills fan thing, its an NFL thing.

Pat Kirwan keeps count of how many coaches have been fired in the AFC East since BB has been coaching, the number is well into the 20's.

    Seems low

  4. McDermott has messed with Allen's head.  He's done more to neutralize one of the best offenses in the league than any other DC.  Allen needs to run with the ball.  Not necessarily designed QB runs but let him roll out and if doesn't like what he sees then let him run.

Yeah nobody wants him to get hit/hurt and that's where McD needs to emphasize to slide or run out of bounds.  If Allen runs more, it will open up the offense.  Opposing defenses aren't concerned about Allen running anymore.

McD did the typical thing of overcorrecting an issue and has made things worse.  Now Allen is thinking too much and the Bills offense is sputtering.  Can't wait until the off-season where McGenius says we need to score more points.

They need to run and show the potential of running the ball on most downs  Josh is also going to be better off in pulling the ball down and takng what he can get when they all drop out  Do we do it or keep being stubborn and trying to fit the football in  Who knows?

Allen needs to run just enough to make the defense think it's a possibility and get them to hesitate just enough in their coverages.  It makes a big difference.

So we are only 2-5 in 1 score games? Massive room for improvement, no?

Yes, there's all kinds of massive room for improvement.  We're losing to bad teams and we haven't played a complete 60 minute game in quite some time.  I believe the Bills have a serious problem on their hands.  They have 7 games to straighten things out or others will be joining Dorsey imo.

I’m not on the “Fire Sean” train as the real reasons are being recklessly neglected. The glaring issues on why the offense has been out of whack is obvious to me. Here are my observations.

    1) Daboll knew how to unlock Allen, Dorsey didn’t.

    2) Dorsey is not Daboll nor was he creative

    3) Beane, needed to give Allen a #2 WR. The year that the Bills almost won it all they had a very talented WR in Sanders opposite of Diggs and next to Davis. He could have easily been a #2. A body like that was useful, but was never replaced after Sanders retired.

    4)  Last but not least, Josh Allen just has not been himself. He needs to learn to stop trying to throw those tight throws, if they aren’t necessary. Take Tom Brady’s advice and go to the alternative target….even if it yields you 3-5 yards.

Sean does have a little blame in this, but not entirely. My only issue is that he takes too long to fire staff members when needed. Still waiting for him to fire Smiley.

I would add that Daboll held Allen accountable.  As fans, we saw it on the sidelines at times.

I think McD doesn't want Allen to run out of fear of injury.  I get it to some degree but Allen needs to run some in order to give the defense something else to defend.  Bills offense is too vanilla right now.

Not sure if I agree with this article.

The Bills struggled on offense in the playoffs, in what he calls the "magical" 2020 season.

Most fans feel the team actually had it's best chance in 2021, due to the team clicking on offense in playoffs.  But then 13 seconds happened.

And even last year, the Bills were still leaning very heavily towards the pass and still allowing Josh Allen to run the ball a ton.

And here in 2023, all the metrics are showing the Bills offense works better when they are running the ball.  James Cook was pretty much the only thing working on Monday night.

It's very probably that Sean McDermott is trying to limit Allen's running, and I agree that it's a problem.  But part of the problem with the Bills is being too one-dimensional and predictable.  Teams have caught-up to the heavy passing offenses, and it's vital to keep teams off balance.  If McDermott was preaching that, he's not wrong.

The Bills in general have not run the ball effectively in quite some time.  They don't want Allen to run the ball.  I get that concern but they didn't replace that aspect of the offense at all.  So they signed a 33 yr old back and Harris who has an injury history and is on IR now.  They removed a large part of Allen's game and he's struggling to adjust to it.

Yes, there is more than one issue. He took steps to solve one of them. Is that not something he should do?

And for accuracy sake: he didn't fire the ST coach after 13 seconds. His contract was up and wasn't brought back or he decided to leave. There's a difference. And for the record, I do hope the same standard is used for Smiley and he is replaced at some point.

In promoting Dorsey, in my view the mistake he made was taking too much of Josh's preference to heart. Once Allen said he wanted Dorsey there wasn't even what I would consider a real search. They met the Rooney Rule, interviewed 2 other guys that equally had no experience and pressed on with Josh's choice.

Personally, I thought Dorsey was going to be fired after the season because in season firings rarely accomplish much imo.  In firing Dorsey, McD is admitting to a mistake he made and he has now corrected it.  We agree on McD needing to fire Smiley which is another mistake by McD.

McD has made very questionable if not bad hiring decisions.  As many have pointed out, McD has made several questionable decisions on game day.  Now he  has added a new wrinkle of benching Cook for an extended time after he fumbled.  I get benching him for a few plays or the rest of that possession.  I think it was excessive and hurt the offense.

McD doesn't hold himself accountable and he has lost and/or is losing the locker room for it.  McD never owned 13 seconds.  All he had to do is say  "I ***** up."  But he never did.

McD is feeling the heat.  High expectations for this team and they look bad.

    Honestly, the fans/media.

McDermott has been fielding questions from Tim Graham and others since the week after Miami about Dorsey and if he would lose playcalling duties. This stoked the fans fire and with the offense struggling, the drum beat grew louder. It finally came to a head yesterday.

And it's almost hysterical how many fans are. Almost everyone wanted to see Dorsey fired. Then when he gets fired a certain percentage turn it into "he fired him as a scape goat and to save his own arse".

There's more than one issue going on with the Bills.  Firing Dorsey only solves some of it.  Special Teams looks pretty bad too.  Not just the last game either. McD fired the previous ST coordinator after 13 seconds and promoted Smiley to that position.  McD deflecting blame.

McD promoted Dorsey, a guy with no OC experience, and then fired him 1.5 seasons later.  Not good for McD any way you look at it.
