Like everything in management, questions about when to take a subordinate "to the woodshed" are handled differently by every manager. Some managers never do it. Over the next two weeks is when we'll really learn whether it made a difference- I don't imagine running AThomas into the middle of the Jaguar DLine is going to be a productive strategy. Reality dictates that we have to let Losman throw again Sunday.

Keep in mind that during the week Fairchild was called into a meeting with Marv and The Lizard. He was told to cut all the deep drops and get some moving pockets for the kid to work out of-

Seems to be a resurgance of bad temperaments in the middle of DLines league-wide these days. There was along period where the almost gentle giant TWashingtons/etc. were the rule, being overtaken today by what appears to be a 'roid angry bunch holding down the middle.

What a difference between the "phantom sack" taken earlier this year by their golden boy against us (reminiscent of the "Crissie Everett" collapse that Jim Everett never shook off) and the disgusting approach taken by Pat's defenders like Richard Seymour kicking another player's face while on the ground, All-Time career leader in Personal Fouls Rodney Harrison or other Pat's attacks on HOFers. The boys up in NE might learn a lesson from watching a few episodes of "My Name is Earl".

STRAIGHT outta Compton might have been our boy on the train to TJ ;-)

Yep. His parents are both professionals who still llive in South Central along with other family members.

I don't see that as very relevant- the truth is that Williams looked at the game as a chance to come back to show off his skillset, and Pennington didn't give him the chance. On the "experience" curve, this was a good day for our new RT IMO. I don't think anyhone would deny the confidence boost, and that alone can be a big help to any late pick or UFA getting their shot at the big time.

First pick of the 2006 draft Mario Williams versus 7th rounder Terrence Pennington- That's usually a bad omen; congrats to the kid from Compton holding his own under circumstances that have typically been embarassing for many before him.

I didn't know you kids were still doing The Drop!

Enjoy your trip to Houston- bring us back a nice scalp.

I thought he used the spelling "Monte" when he was with us. He wasn't a gifted linebacker, but he did bring a load by driving through his tackles. One of the better hitters ever in a Bill's uni at his size.

Judgement of whether his MO is to play "through" the whistle or "past" the whistle is likely influenced by your history as a DB; or maybe mine as a WR ;-)
-
Conrad Dobler surely had the rep. I saw a lot more of Harrison's career and have always considered him a piece of **** due to the BS he does after the whistle is blown, a "habit" that has made him the most penalized cheap shot artist of the modern game. The real question for me about his historical place among others at his position is this- would Rodney Harrison be as "effective" as he has been had he not been willing to ignore many of the whistles he's heard over the course of his career, leading to his historical lead among all NFL players at being flagged for personal foul calls?

As Bob suggests, just jump on the 60 in Moreno Valley going West and you'll have a chance to pick up the 10 West in Los Angeles. Take the Bundy exit North from the 10, it's the first exit after the 405. Go north 5 lights to Santa Monica Boulevard and go left. Busby's is at 3110 Santa Monica Blvd. If you plan to come to town tonight, call me at (310) 963-7640. Bob and I will be doing some "carousing" around the Westside today and tonight. If you come in the morning you want to give yourself about 75 minutes for the drive. Bob and I can hold seats for you- anyone else with you? -

Think of Bobby McGees with clean beer lines, good food and someone actually opening the place up before kickoff ;-) -

Thanks. I'd hadn't talked to them since before the line changes- hope they have great time in Buff and more important TPennington shows up big Sunday. -

It's likely the Penningtons will also be at Busby's to see their son's first start. Breakfast, free wings and $2.00 drafts- Where else would you rather be............ -
Hope all is good on your end- maybe we'll get on onshore tonight to help out. I admit I haven't paid rapt attenion to it, but it is my understanding from what I have read that Reyes was no more "replaced" than Villarrial was replaced by Preston. In both cases injury was the reason the starter was sitting down. That might have ben fluff in an interview, but I'm pretty sure I read that Jauron said "Reyes will be back in the starting lineup when he's healed up..".
-
The problems with our OLine have come in the passing game, and those problems have been by far the worst for us at LT and RG, with Gandy being charged with 5.5 sacks allowed and the duo of Chris Villarrial and Duke Preston giving up a combined 5 at RG. I think it was Jauron who said Reyes would be back in the starting lineup as soon as he's healed up, and that just means Gandy will move to the bench. Gandy's pass blocking struggles- mostly getting beat off his left shoulder- will disappear inside while he's subbing for Reyes. The other major problem though, with VillPreston playing very poorly on the inside, is that we're actually removing a strength to their right and putting a rookie next to them. I don't see the help there, unless Pennington turns out to be some intellectual phenom won't need to rely on the RG like virtually all other starting rookies require at the Tackle spots. Pennington would have to play like a very good, mistake free player taken at least 5 rounds in front of where he was to make me believe the team has some credible answers to the weak inside pass blocking on the right side. Or possibly Gandy does stick the lineup at OG along with Reyes and Villarrial is set down. Then again, maybe Fairchild has simply been told to structure his passing offense for the balance of the season on weakside rollouts ;-)

Dodged another ember- but it's only a matter fo time on that. It wasn't so clear when we bought but now there's no doubt the local fire guys have absolutely no way to stop anything over our North or West entries.

Is it safe to assume those are Netscape results? In IE I can't replicate that outcome.
