Do you think every coach with an average or worse QB just gives up on any evaluation of their receivers? There are 16 teams in the league that have no clue how good their receivers are?
I think Zay will be fine. Isn't the rule of thumb for receivers "give them 3 years to develop"? I just dont think Tyrod helps him much is all.

Tyrod Taylor could make Dez Bryant look like a bust though. Again, I like Tyrod but he isn't exactly the worlds best passer.
-
Mostly because we're conditioned to expect failure being Bills fans.

Win 2 games in a row - lose the last game on a field goal....wait for it.....
WIDE RIGHT

To a lot of people "being realistic" means being super negative. Sometimes that makes sense, but not in our case this year. We were a team on the verge of the playoffs last year. I can't not see how anyone would think we'd be less than a 7 to 9 win team. "4 and 10" is just someones way of getting attention.

I for one would rather go pay Kirk Cousins, but if I have to , I'll trade both my firsts and another high 2018 pick to get Darnold or whoever is on the top of the QB draft board for the Bills. But I do not want to part with my 2019 #1 pick, which I believe they will need to do if they end up 9-7 and have to move up 15 or 20 spots. So I don't say "suck for Sam" just "slide for Sam". In a month this season will be forgotten. Am I right?
Respect your opinion on this. Personally, I think Darnold is going to be a major, major flop and I'll be highly disappointed if Buffalo goes with him. Anyone but him.

Totally fine with it as long as we "get our QB" in the draft to sit on the bench for a year.

I think Kyle will retire this year. I only wish he can get a playoff game.
Agreed. I think this is it for him as well. The only guys on that list I'd say will be back are Preston Brown and maybe Jerry Hughes.

I really, really, really doubt that McDermott and Beane have fallen out. I put the chance of that at 0.01%
Agreed. This sounds like "fake news" to me.

That will never happen in the inner city...
football and basketball are their way out of the ghetto.
kids will always grow up and dream of playing college ball and making it to the league
they don't care about CTE
and college football is KING in he south
On this point, I think you are about to see the NBA overtake the NFL as the most popular sport in America. I can also see MLB starting to become "cool" again down the road. Soccer might start to catch on a little better as well. Interesting times to say the least.

Most former NFL players have CTE.
Humans aren't meant to play football.
The NFL as we know it today will not exist in the next 20 to 30 years - if at all.

I think he'll just be released.

We should not throw a rookie QB to the wolves as a day1 starter IMO and break him if we go this route. If not Tyrod, who is the best bridge QB for a year that the rookie can learn or develop behind?
Tyrod
McCarron
Bradford
Bridgewater
Cutler
other?
I'd be tempted to go Bradford personally if the dude could stay healthy. Just not sure that is possible?
Tyrod will want to get out of here as fast as he can.
Bradford worries me with injuries, but he's very good when healthy. I'd take a chance if he'd come here.
AJ McCarron would be interesting. I have always been a fan and think he'd be a decent stop gap guy.
No thanks on Teddy. I am not sold he'll ever fully recover...and even if he did I do not think he was ever a top level guy.
Cutler will retire.
Alex Smith / Kirk Cousins for me. Draft your replacement to sit on the bench and LEARN for at least 1 year.

Are we to the point where if we win out, we are guaranteed to be in?
-
Offensive line - no doubt in my mind. Richie isn't getting any younger and I think a lot of people forget that. Without at least a solid offensive line, even a great QB will look bad.

We’d probably have two more wins and a playoff birth
Absolutely. We are an average QB away from a 1st round playoff loss....but at least its a playoff game.

Sammy is not coming back into Buffalo
He'll head to a southern team most likely. Dolphins, Bucs, Falcons, Panthers, Saints...etc...

Peterman for me. Not to be a negative nancy or anything, but the likelyhood of us getting to the playoffs isn't great ( in my opinion ). I wouldn't mind letting Peterman have another shot, allowing Tyrod to heal up.
-
One problem is that Taylor sees himself as a franchise guy - right or wrong. I am not so sure he'd go for a "utility" role.

I personally don't see a franchise guy coming out of this draft at QB. If its me, I'm keeping the picks and filling in some other holes in the team. Taylor will not be in Buffalo next year so you're looking at Nathan Peterman as your starter though. Obviously not ideal ( at least not yet ). I'd have to sign a stop gap guy ( Alex Smith / Sam Bradford ) or go full bore on Cousins. I believe with even an average QB at the helm, right now, we are a legit playoff team. While I really like Tyrod, I dont believe he's the right fit for this offense.
This is beyond a pipe dream. We are not a playoff caliber team who are just a QB away from being good. The vets you named are washed up and Peterman is not an NFL QB.
I wholeheartedly disagree with you. We have 6 wins already with a below average QB. You switch Taylor with someone like Alex Smith and we make the playoffs. Are we a championship team? Probably not. But playoff team? You bet you damn ass we are.

I can't put my finger on why, but Darnold just looks like he's going to be a major flop at the NFL level.

Or pay the price for Cousins and take the best players with the picks
im only interested in Mayfield but not trading a bunch of picks to get him.
Love the idea of paying for Cousins and upgrading the OL with one of those 2 picks in the first round.

I think either guy is in trouble with that poor excuse for an offensive line protecting them. Tyrod would be my choice and I am a fan of Nathans. He'll be ok....but it'll take some time. His confidence has to be shaken to the absolute core now.
What happened to Derek Carr?

Even an elite QB will be exposed more often than not behind a weak offensive line. A strong offensive line, in my opinion, can make an average QB look extremely solid.
