Last years defense was not good. This year I feel is incredibly hollow and the stats are really skewed by playing some terrible QBs. I think we have maybe the best secondary in the league and they cover up so much of our issues. I think we are way to passive and soft on defense and my guess is that McDermott calling the plays dials up considerably more pressure. I think we have the personnel to be a dominant defense and we just aren’t that right now. Also almost any physical offense pushes us around and has us on skates. I’m not saying Fraiser is terrible but I feel like he’s a little too finesse. I’d prefer a little more aggression and tone setting and I honestly think it would change with McDermott. Plus, that’s his calling card. If you are the Coach and Defense is your thing…get your hands on it and make it your own.

You really think this personnel can be dominant? I'm telling you man McDermott built this finesse team. Is Frazier perfect? No but when you dpnt go get a 1 tech dt to at least spell star, you dont get a REAL edge rusher... you keep parading 49 out there. And unless you really like Klein you don't have what it takes to run a 43. If play calling is your gripe then ok that MAY be Frazier. But dollars to doughnuts McDermott has his hands in this defense hard body. And the personnel we have to work with, thats beane and McDermott. All d line thats best pass rushers are still the 2 oldest guys on the unit. You have Basham that with Rousseau and Epenesa are all run staffers with no bend. Then you build an interior line that gets your 4th year middle linebacker washed. The pieces.. I dont put Frazier in the equation.

If you look at Frazier's Minnesota teams he had a run stuffing 1 tech who was good for 8-10 tfls a season a super talented edge rusher and middle backers who were really good against the run and. He did play a bend but don't break style Tampa 2 but his front 4 got busy, with his LBs cleaning up the scraps.

I don't really understand this line of thinking. The Bills are one of the better coached defenses in the NFL. They were the 2nd ranked scoring defense in 2019 and are the 2nd ranked scoring defense this year. 2020 was admittedly a bad year for the Bills defense. Other than that, what's the gripe?

Stop it!!!! You are ruining a perfectly good rant post

He is. He is a defensive coach and the the defense let up one big run. Other than that they showed up. Every loss this season other than the Titans game is more on the offense not performing than the defense not performing. Steelers game was lost because the offense, Jaguars game because of the offense, This game was because of the offense. Mcdermott had his issues tonight with burning two time outs on stupid stuff but Daboll really screwed this game up.

My personal philosophy with regards to this is the fact he IS a defensive coach. A defensive coach who has used every prime asset he has not named Stefon Diggs on his defense. The offense hasn't measured up but he still fortifies the defense. Thats a tough one for me.

I actually did not know they were that slow. I knew they were slugs, but wtf were you thinking Beane??

Moss reminds me of a sort of chris ivory. Hes supposed to be a change of pace power back. The thing that gets me about both guys, they are supposed to be physical, but neither is even really big. May as well have signed Jarrett Patterson for this mess.

Going for it was fine.  Even the sneak call was fine.  You would hope for something a little more creative since the entire world knew Josh was sneaking it when he went under center.

How about running that Chiefs play they threw to Kelce at the goal lien against the Bills?

No worried. The next tough game is not until December

Can't reach unless it is over the goalline.

Is that the rule? I thought you could but I stand corrected

Spencer had his worst game today.  Still a promising young player.

Feliciano should be upgraded at LG.  It will help 73 and 60 to be a better player if we had a solid LG.

    60 needs to be upgraded.

The Bills were a hair away from 38 points on the road. The o-line wasn’t the issue.

They weren't good... BUT Josh was falling before Dawkins fell on him and I really want to know what kind of block was to be had to stop a crashing de... his aim was to plug the gap. He did the job. He got off faster than Dawkins but he sealed the hell out of that B gap.

I thought he was clearly short. Half a yard anyway.

Yep. Head got the first hand with the ball never crossed the line

I don’t think Allen walking up was the reason Dawkins got pushed back a yard

No but could contribute to him not getting his feet set and also could have contributed to the defense getting set. When he walked to the line they knew what it was going to be. He afforded them to adjust. Dawkins may have gotten blown up but a quick snap and an Allen reach over the top usually will get you that first down

Win Probability going for it on 4th down:  63%

Win probability kicking the FG and playing for OT:   42%

As I said above, I'm thrilled McDermott and his staff has grown to the point where they did this tonight.

They have gotten a lot better over time.

Where did you get those stats? Not doubting... but really where can I get those stats

I think it is natural to have reservations, and I think the CDC has done a poor job of communication.  But there are mountains of misinformation and that is a problem.  The "generally accepted risk groups" notion portrays vaccination as a "me only" choice rather than a societal benefit.  And that's all I'll say here - not the place for a general debate.

You wouldn't have been the 3rd or the 4th to make that quip here

Thats exactly my issue. The communication worries me. I just want to know about boosters and things like that. But like i said the main concern is my son. I go to the gym and go to... for now... UB games. Mask up and all that. Also working at the airport the whole 2 and under dont need a mask. I would never.  Its all just crazy to me.

It felt like I could count on just two hands the number of masks I saw all day, from the time I walked in to the stadium to the time I walked out. This was the case despite the very clearly posted -- and oft repeated over the PA system -- stadium rule on masks in common areas.

For those who are angry about the new vax requirement, I have a pretty clear idea who they can thank for it...

    True

Polancarz doesn't even really want fans in the stands. He warned on Friday in a press conference he would be watching. No one cared

The part I don’t agree with is kids 12 and older have to get the shot to enter.  We’ve been holding off for our daughter for more long term data to come in.  Not a fan of the policy as written.

Im not vaccinated and I have a 4 year old. I wasn't worried about me but I was more worried about bringing something home to him. I had my mask on at ALL times including the walk and I asked my friend did he see anything close rule compliance... and he said no, him included. I thought it was a no brainer and a blessing to be able to have people in the stands. I guess they took the warnings for granted

I thought he was better than he is but he can definitely be a weapon. I think he is on team but might get cut for someone more versatile.

Could easily. Be Stephenson or if needed McKenzie. They are going to probably have to get creative to keep the wrs they want, especially a Kumerow or something. I could see it

This one might make a few people angry, but Jake Fromm.

Apart from the one throw, he looked miserably lost out there. No pocket awareness, missing easy throws against fourth stringers… I’m out on him.

Davis Webb showed a lot more and rendered Fromm an easy cut.

David has THE IQ and can bring something special to the film room for sure

I know he caught a pass but Lenoir seems to be a sure cut with the depth we have at WR.

OJ Wildgoose Simpson didn’t have a night to write home about.

They did stress how Levi was the only corner outside of Tre who doesn't get dropped off.. even if he was giving up catches he was there. Dane and Wildgoose may be the future but they still need work

Rumor has it, this is the house we was building when traded to Houston in 2006. It sold after completion right away in 2007.

I think I saw him somewhere around 2009. I lie to you not .. I was behind him at a concession stand at a UB basketball game... I just remember playfully asking him "man what you doin here". He was like "watching basketball my man, I still live in Amherst". I couldn't believe he offered that info but hey. He was down to earth as hell.
