Chris Brown says he has only thrown 1 pass so far. Wonder how sore those ribs still are. Decision after practice re who will start. Seems likely to be Thad though. Mike Rodak says Thad is not throwing the ball... Thad cannot throw the ball. It's looking like Tuel time...

Look what we've become. Praying for a practice squad QB to be healthy enough to play.

Marrone said this morning that Spiller will play. Practice starts soon and we will find out if Thad is out there. If so, he will almost certainly start.

I would be shocked if Thad was out with "sore ribs." He will play.

I know other threads are discussing injuries for Sunday but I thought it made sense to put them together for easy access. Marrone said today that Thad is still 50/50 for Sunday. He did not practice again on Thursday. He did not say whether Tuel or Flynn had the edge if Thad cant go. Marrone expects Spiller to play Sunday. He was limited in practice on Thursday. Hogan and Burton both missed practice but are expected to play Sunday. Freddie and Stevie both practiced Thursday after not practicing Wednesday. It looks like our only injury concern right now is with Thad. And given he doesn't have any fractured ribs and this could be his last start before EJ returns, my money is on him starting. No idea who the backup will be but I will guess Flynn will be named the backup for this week only because I don't like Tuel.

I disagree with the OP. We are actually pretty healthy outside of QB. We are still above average at RB even if Spiller sits. Lewis will probably play after several days to rest sore ribs. He should be fine. Probably his last start before EJ returns so might as well leave it all on the field. Defense is healthy. Offense is healthy enough if Lewis can protect the ball. I think the country will see what we've seen all year. This is a young team with flaws to iron out still but it also has a lot of talent and plays competitively against even the best NFL teams. Hopefully that will translate to a W.

You guys still think he is a lock to start Sunday? I don't. Man I really hope they don't feed Tuel to the wolves Sunday. This is a winnable game with a halfway decent QB.

Again, the way you neutralize the blitz is with quick slants and dump offs to the RBs. Stop trying to throw down field to the wideouts when staring into the teeth of a blitz. Sounds simple. Must be tough to execute though.

Except we might be without a QB and without a RB. Need Thad. CJ would help too.

This is true, and very annoying. When do WE ever get a team minus their starting QB or feature back? The one game the opposing QB went down, OUR QB went down the same game.

Marrone said not this week. But I would like to think that if he is back at practice now, he could very well be ready to play next Sunday.

Rodak says it could be Thad, Tuel, OR Flynn. He's not as convinced as you.

Thad has sore ribs. 50/50 to play according to Marrone. E.J. practiced but will not play this week. Thad's x rays were negative. Have to imagine he starts, no? He won't miss a start with soreness.

Nothing official yet but looks like Thad is out with undisclosed injury and Marrone is having open competition for Sunday's starter..

I would bet any amount of money Flynn will start Sunday.

Marrone told Tuel and Flynn "it could be anyone" starting Sunday. No other details yet as to whether Thad has an injury or what. Flynn and Tuel split 1st team reps today.

Buscaglia said Manuel took second team reps in the "throw vs. Air drill." Not sure what that means.

If it turns out that Tuel is starting, I rescind my prediction.

Jackson didn't practice today either though.

If Thad can't go, it's got to be Flynn. He is a seasoned veteran compared to Tuel.

If Thad can't go Sunday, it would almost certainly mean a loss in by far the most important game of the season. Soul-crushing stuff.
