  1. It has nothing to do with his talent and everything to do with what Cleveland expects to get in return for him. Getting Watson was literally the dumbest move you could make as a front office. There is now way to predict how long he could end up suspended for. It could be games. It could be seasons. Hell, it could be indefinitely. So the Browns have to approach trade offers as they are trading their starting QB. Because they are, most likely.

  2. Left out the first part... BACKUP OR ROTATIONAL. If he's a backup, I would assume he would come in for Milano if he gets hurt. If he's rotational I would assume it was Edmunds he'd replace due to his cover skills or he could come in as the 3rd backer.

Sorry I forgot I was on the internet, where people read/hear what they want to.

  3. I did see his Sugar Bowl performance but didn't initially put the face (number) to the name. Saw him in a couple games through out the season last year and from that little exposure and seeing his measurables from the combine he's a Milano type of LB. High motor, all over the field, great athleticism. We won't know anything until we see how the Bills plan on utilizing him in their scheme. Is he a back up or rotational? Who does he come in for? Edmunds? Milano? 3rd backer? It will be interesting to watch this offseason. My hope is that he gives the staff enough that they feel they can move on from Edmunds, who has been mediocre his entire career and has yet to develop in the Kuchely type of MLB everyone swore he would.

I don't like RB picks early either.

    I think they basically got a 2nd rounder in the 1st round,  and a 3rd rounder in the 2nd round.........and a 5th-6th rounder in the 3rd.

And in the process gave away a 4th round pick in a year where there was 2nd round talent available in round 4.

Basically they did what I dislike the team to do in the draft..........they just tried to make a small profit addressing needs at lesser positions of value in their systems......... instead of having a higher standard.

If you draft like that consistently it eventually takes a toll on your roster.........it was a problem with the 90's Bills........they were often already drafting special teamers in mid rounds instead of gambling on upside and because of that eventually the Parcells Patriots and Johnson Dolphins caught up and passed them, roster wise.

I would have passed on Cook too........but Cook is a potentially valuable player...........I can like him and not like the value where he was picked.

This is the way the draft goes sometimes from a fan perspective.

In all of the other McBeane drafts they did better for value.

Really the Cody Ford trade was his only real glaring L prior to losing some battles this weekend, IMO.

But in picking up some low hanging fruit.........a zone CB,  a RB,  a WLB,  a slot receiver and a punter..........they may actually end up with a pretty decent amount of starters at least.

Well bud you're gonna have a rough go of it from here on out. This is how you maintain a team with a $250 million QB on it. Beane doesn't have the luxury of going out and making big splashes in free agency anymore. It's going to be need over "value" every year. And seriously, these grades placed on players only ever matter when trying make hindsight arguments after a player plays for a year or two. The only grade that matters is the one Beane has placed on the player. He doesn't look at Todd McShay's mock draft and go "oh, if Todd thinks this of that player, I better move him on my big board."

Concerning Cook, he was argued to be the best receiving back in this draft. We were not looking for a thumper or a guy that can carry the ball 30+ times a game. Josh needs a reliable outlet out of the backfield at the very least, something Moss and Singletary have proven they can not be. But more than that, just like we're seeing with the tight end room this year, the Bills are looking for guys that can also be split out. I think we're going to see more uptempo. Josh and Dorsey need guys that can catch the football and make plays downfield and in open space and they have to be able to do it from various positions on the field. Howard and Knox are good blockers but have the athleticism to stand up and create mismatches with linebackers and safeties. Cook is great on the outside and has the speed to turn the corner or hit holes in zone runs but he's also an excellent receiver and has the speed to turn quick crosses and wheel routes in to big plays.

  5. As a Gator fan, I was already calling for Beane to take Elam. Glad it panned out. He has been the bright spot in Gainesville on an otherwise struggling unit. Make no mistake though, taking on the opposite side of the best DB in the NFL is going to be a big mountain to climb.

  6. My hope is that the tight end room ends up being as good as it looks on paper. I think this actually plays into the uptempo offense more than it does running 12 personnel. Obviously they can but I think if it's Knox and Howard, in an uptempo situation you could see Knox or Howard in the slot. Gives Dorsey more felxability without having to substitute. I'm thinking we take advantage of mismatches more this year. Less cute play calls and more just outplaying the other team and exploiting weaknesses.

  7. Maybe we need to do like in hockey and send a goon in after something like that, who's sole purpose is to injure Judon or whoever the offending player is. I've seen people try to purposely injure Josh multiple times now in his career. If it were me, personally, as a coach I'd send a message to one of these guys' knees.

PS One of the greatest Bills games ever featured no punts: 34-31 Bills over 49ers in their glory days with Rice and Young. Had the game on VHS and wore it out.

I still remember that game. It was amazing. Probably one of the greatest games in NFL history.

Wish we had Klein in on that Fournette run where Edmunds couldn't stop him in the backfield.

I couldn't help but think that a backer like Roquan Smith absolutely decapitates Fournette instead of letting him get the first down.

That's what's so disappointing about Edmunds; he just doesn't play with any physicality despite being built like a Greek god. I think his brother is having the same problems in Pittsburgh, so maybe it's a family thing. Who knows.

He's built like a 3-4 OLB. He's way out of scheme and position.

RB position was not addressed in the offseason because Beanne was too busy enjoying his award and did not want to admit he blew it drafting both Moss & Singetary in the the 3d round.  Singletary is maybe a 4th or 5th rounder at best and Moss is more like a 7th rounder or undrafted free agent.  Beane has missed bad on many picks and free agent signing/  Morse/Star/Addison/Butler/Klein,  all paid good to very good money and have produced very little.  Like has Butler even made a play this season and Star seems to always let his teammate down

Only reason why this team is still a playoff contender is because Josh Allen,  so fans need to stop just blaming Sean because Beanne is just as much to blame if not more.  I challenge anyone to review his free agent signings and show anyone other then Beasley and maybe Sanders who has paid off and considered good value.  Draft pick Espensa looks like a undersized slow DE and other picks like Ford/Moss look like complete busts.  Just blindly resigned his offensive line from last season and they get blow up week after week and Josh is usuallly ruuning for his life.  Changes are needed and we may need cut guys even if it means having dead money so we can sign quality and not just quanity of free agents.

Star and Klein are two of our better players on defense. Our defense is completely different without Star. And Klein has stepped in and played about as well as you can hope for a backup in a 2 linebacker system.

What I will agree with you on is the drafting. We've drafted more defensive ends than we've got sacks it seems. Boogie to me was the worst one though. Complete waste of a pick and two great offensive lineman went right after him to the Packers and Cheifs. Two teams who understand you have to protect your MVP QB.

Decent in coverage and a complete liability in the run game. He has not lived up to his draft number at all and should not be re-signed. A borderline bust IMO. I'd rather put Milano an MLB w/ Klein taking his old spot.

Funny you say that because Milano was playing middle in some instances. I don't really care what they do as long as it includes getting rid of Edmunds. People have made excuses for this kid for 4 years now. If he doesn't get it yet, he's never going to.

  12. This is a shameful thread. A guy has a rough start to the season and it's time to run him out of town already. Yikes.

Until the game plan turns around, Allen won't. You don't go 5 wide against one of the best defenses in the league time and time again. You don't run gadget plays on 4th and short. Until the run game gets on track and we can consistently threaten teams with Josh's legs and Devin Singletary, we are going to struggle. Teams were so afraid of Josh's legs last year from film study, they just didn't expect him to pass the way he did. He was unbelievable off of play action and most of of our success was from 3 wide sets. We got away from all of that against the Steelers. Then against Miami Josh just never got into a rythmn. He made some great throws and some poor ones in each game. Did you guys really think we were going to go undefeated this year? This is what it looks like after you go to the AFC Championship. No one is over looking you, they are looking to beat you.

My honest opinion of what's going on is that Josh didn't play all preseason and I think that was a mistake. These guys should've prepped like starters every week and at least went in for a drive or two each game. Things are just of sync and we'll be back on track by mid season.

  13. He will be better than last year. If the pass rush is as legit as it looked in preseason, he will have a ton of opportunities to put points on the board. There is absolutely nothing about his talent at this point that says he's peaked, let alone that he will somehow be worse. The click bait bull#### has really reached a fevered pitch right before the season begins.

But seriously, I can get behind the City of Buffalo Flag design once in a blue moon.

I like the City of Buffalo one also, could be a winner. I also like the Rockpile Red helmet but I think they'd have to go with dark grey pants and red jerseys. Not historically accurate but would definitely look "retro."

I only watched a little of Rousseau before the draft. Will spend more time checking him out now he's a Bill. What I've seen so far, your right, seems like a real good person and will probably fit well in Buffalo.

You only watched a little of him because he only played one year.

It's an obvious need with how bad the defense was at times last year. Picking this low in the draft, you can gamble.
