1. What if.....the Bills beat the Steelers.....could they beat the Colts in the dome?  Would they have had better success in defending against their pass attack?  The Colts defense was still vulnerable to a good ball control offense.  I was really looking forward to this match-up.

Probably would have been a little closer, but not by much. Nevertheless, I take little solace in this fact. It may look like one time will kill the other team on paper, but that's why you play the games and you never know. I would have rather seen the Bills have a shot and be humiliated in the playoffs than being humiliated by second-stringers in a must-win game.

  2. If you could only keep one of our major FAs this off season, who'd it be?

According to the Bills Daily poll and the general consensus of TBD, most people seem to want to keep Pat Williams over Jonas Jennings.

    Why?

Marcus Price is a good backup, but that's about it.  Jennings is still very young, just entering his prime and has improved a lot with each year, despite some injuries.

On the other hand, Pat Williams is replacable. He's a good guy and has played well, but as long as we have Sam Adams, I think Ron Edwards could be a really good starter and he's shown us quite a bit since Krumrie came aboard.

So, if you could only keep one, who would you prefer to stay?

For these very reasons, Pat Williams will probably come cheaper than Jennings. I think that is the key reason why many of us would rather sign the former than the latter.

  3. Our defense put up pretty numbers against lousy offenses hampered by bad conditions. Any time you play the likes of Cleveland and San Francisco, your defensive stats will look good. But look at the way the defense performed in our losses:

    - Against Jacksonville and the Jets, the defense allowed a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter

    - The defense allowed New England to score 24 points in our first meeting, and suffered a complete collapse the second time the two teams played.

    - The defense allowed a back-breaking nine minute drive to Pittsburgh. Prior to that drive, the time of possession for both teams was about equal. The defense gets 100% of the blame for that drive.

That leaves just two losses--Baltimore and Oakland--in which the defense wasn't part of the problem. Neither of those teams are exactly known for having a great offense. This defense is good enough to get by with. But it's not good enough to carry the team.

I think one of the reasons why the defense has a problem holding teams on final drives is its gambling nature. I think sometimes the team blitzes a little too much especially on crucial situations. A big-time pass-rusher opposite Schobel could make a big difference in this regard.

  4. I noticed that Favre's pal Peter King is still calling for the Bills to Dump Bledsoe In his MMQB column today

Last week he calle him "grim, dinosaur-like" and "too old."

OTOH, Green Bay ends up with just one more win than the Bills, and Favre looked awful yesterday and in their game against J-ville for example. Does King call him names or tell him to hang it up? Oh no, of course not. He just says yesterday's game was a "stinker" for his buddy Brett, and quotes Favre's post-game comments.

It's alot easier to pile on someone when they aren't your long-distance phone friend.

    MMQB

What I find funny about his rankings is how he ties Buffalo with Miami at 15. Seriously, does the Pittsburgh lost really make St. Louis and Seattle better teams? I doubt it.

  5. IMO, that was the worst thing to do.  How about ignoring him?  How about if all the idiot sportswriters and talking head just discussed something ELSE today?

The reason Moss and the rest of the showboat crowd continue to do things like this is because they enjoy the attention and the "controversy".  Who gives a rat's ass what he did after the TD?

    200099

I agree that these things get blown out of proportion. Just b/c it is blown out of proportion or that he's doing it just for attention doesn't make it right. Also, there has to be some line somewhere. I think we can think of extreme things he might have done instead that most of us agree would definitely be out of line.

  6. Classless TOOL -

God I hope the Vikes lose ..I can't stand Moss + Tice.

As much as Moss might be obnoxious, I am rooting for a Rams-Vikings NFC Championship game. This would be hilarious to me. Two 8-8 teams, at least one goes to the Super Bowl. What a crapterpiece!

  7. With the arrival of my first child, the thoughts having enough money is on my mind constantly. I am currently a teacher who makes ends meet, but needs more money for my wife and new baby. I have an open job offer to sell cars for Carmax. The good part is I will bring home around 1,200 extra  per month. The bad thing is I will be away from my family a lot to get it. My wife has saved a decent amount of money and we should get an excellent tax return, so we will be able to keep my wife home until August  and pay the mortgage for the next couple of months.

My question for you - especially the fathers out there, how much extra do you work and would you regret being away so much, but to ensure your most important family is ok??? I WOULD LIKE YOUR THOUGHTS.

Growing up, I saw my dad and plenty of other male relatives work countless hours to support the family.

Could you get extra money doing other things? You're a teacher, could you tutor on the side or coach a team? Could you work one longer day instead of two days, thus giving yourself a day off? The good thing is that if you did start working selling cars, you could always quit if you weren't happy. The key, I think, is that you make sure that you keep a promise to yourself to quit if the cost is too great. Everyone has a tendency to accept the inertia of staying in a job that is taking a toll on them, don't let that happen to you.

  8. These ramblings are not a new thing.  See:  Flutie vs RJ, Todd Collins era.

They may seem new, but they have been around since the beginning.

    197892

Hmm.. yeah, you know I think I do remember AKC and Todd Collins back in the day. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Just good old times. Was that soon after the old DandC board was shut down?

  9. If you think you are as good or better than the other QB's who werwe drafted ahead of you (Manning, Rivers, Rothesburger) then prove it.

Study the playbook, study nfl defenses, work on your mechanics, and beat out Drew Bledsoe. Win the starting job at the start of the 2005 season and perform at a high level.

Show everyone that you are better than Bledsoe, Manning, Rivers, and Rothesbuger

A friend of this guy I know who washes the car of Losman's best friend from SoCal told me that Losman declines your challenge.

  10. And Willis McGahee is any smarter? He thought Buffalo was in NYC for christ sake. I mean, TH isnt too smart, but lets not hate on the guy, he gave his heart and soul to the Bills.

    185427

I think McGahee and Henry might be an example of the difference between being ignorant and plain lacking smarts. Henry's actions lately have certainly shown a lack of common sense, no reason to hate the guy.

Don't know the guy personally obviously, but he always seems like a good enough guy who just has a chip on his shoulder.

  11. Nah, he got punted along with a few of the other "tards in training".  There's always BF.  He's still under his bridge.  :D

    185385

Well anyway, I regret saying the things in the way I said them. I have my opinion about the Darwin Awards, etc., I stick to it, but I shouldn't have expressed them in the way I did. I shouldn't have been surprised that it annoyed a few. Anyway, my bad.
