  1. With the arrival of my first child, the thoughts having enough money is on my mind constantly. I am currently a teacher who makes ends meet, but needs more money for my wife and new baby. I have an open job offer to sell cars for Carmax. The good part is I will bring home around 1,200 extra  per month. The bad thing is I will be away from my family a lot to get it. My wife has saved a decent amount of money and we should get an excellent tax return, so we will be able to keep my wife home until August  and pay the mortgage for the next couple of months.

My question for you - especially the fathers out there, how much extra do you work and would you regret being away so much, but to ensure your most important family is ok??? I WOULD LIKE YOUR THOUGHTS.

Growing up, I saw my dad and plenty of other male relatives work countless hours to support the family.

Could you get extra money doing other things? You're a teacher, could you tutor on the side or coach a team? Could you work one longer day instead of two days, thus giving yourself a day off? The good thing is that if you did start working selling cars, you could always quit if you weren't happy. The key, I think, is that you make sure that you keep a promise to yourself to quit if the cost is too great. Everyone has a tendency to accept the inertia of staying in a job that is taking a toll on them, don't let that happen to you.

  2. These ramblings are not a new thing.  See:  Flutie vs RJ, Todd Collins era.

They may seem new, but they have been around since the beginning.

Hmm.. yeah, you know I think I do remember AKC and Todd Collins back in the day. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Just good old times. Was that soon after the old DandC board was shut down?

  3. If you think you are as good or better than the other QB's who werwe drafted ahead of you (Manning, Rivers, Rothesburger) then prove it.

Study the playbook, study nfl defenses, work on your mechanics, and beat out Drew Bledsoe. Win the starting job at the start of the 2005 season and perform at a high level.

Show everyone that you are better than Bledsoe, Manning, Rivers, and Rothesbuger

A friend of this guy I know who washes the car of Losman's best friend from SoCal told me that Losman declines your challenge.

  4. And Willis McGahee is any smarter? He thought Buffalo was in NYC for christ sake. I mean, TH isnt too smart, but lets not hate on the guy, he gave his heart and soul to the Bills.

I think McGahee and Henry might be an example of the difference between being ignorant and plain lacking smarts. Henry's actions lately have certainly shown a lack of common sense, no reason to hate the guy.

Don't know the guy personally obviously, but he always seems like a good enough guy who just has a chip on his shoulder.

  5. Nah, he got punted along with a few of the other "tards in training".  There's always BF.  He's still under his bridge.  :D

Well anyway, I regret saying the things in the way I said them. I have my opinion about the Darwin Awards, etc., I stick to it, but I shouldn't have expressed them in the way I did. I shouldn't have been surprised that it annoyed a few. Anyway, my bad.

  6. We have pulled more tricks than BF at a SF gentleman's club. I think this week will be no different.

The thing I like about the trick plays this year is that they have worked. I know that sounds dumb, but if they hadn't we would be all over Mularky's ass. But they have. Finally the ball has bounced our way. Except for last week's fake punt, we've been almost dead on.

I'm wondering if a called fake punt will be on the books this week?

I think the fake punt really shows yet again our lack in faith in Lindell. Hear me out. In a situation where some teams would try a 45-50+, we decide to either punt or fake punt.

Either way, I wouldn't be surprised to see a flea flicker (again), or a half back option. Anything it takes to win - so long as it works.

  7. Seriously, do you think that the DC of the opposing team (or a position coach)checks the numbers of every opposing player coming out onto the field before every play?  If that's the case, I'm impressed.  I would have thought there's too much going on just making sure your own personnel are in position.

I am not sure what play will do this, but I think somehow Lee Evans will catch a TD from Peyton against the Broncos.

  8. best situation, in my view:

    Bills beat the steelers.

    Jets lose to the Rams.

Indy beats the Broncos. Buh-bye broncos.

    Bills are #5, Jets #6.

Jets go to Indy. Bwa! Indy wins.

Bills go to San Diego, where I believe we'd win pretty handily, and confuse and frustrate their fans in historic fashion.

Bills go to Foxboro still pissed about that last debacle. Determined to play their hearts out, the Bills eke out a win with a late Lindell field goal. (!)

Indy goes into Pittsburgh and rips them a new one, leaving Cowher's jaw fixed in permanent underbite.

Then the Bills travel to Indy in the AFC Championship game, where the Bills D and special teams shocks the Colts and the football world.

Meanwhile, the PACKERS, who can't stop anyone from running on them, somehow Favred their way past the Eagles in the NFC Championship game.

    Bills 33

    Packers 20

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think this can happen. The Bills would play Pittsburgh after beating San Diego and Indianapolis would play New england in this scenario. In general, I believe, Pittsburgh plays lowest seed available in the second round.

  9. The only time the "experts" will predict the Bills in the playoffs is after they have made it.

These guys should be in my line of work - when I forecast 8 out of every 10 storms right, I get chastised for thetwo I get wrong. The NFL 'experts" predict wrong over 50% of the time..and yet we keep coming back to them for their expert opinions.

God are we stupid or what?

(oops, gotta go. Mort is answering questions on ESPN.  he's ALWAYS right) ;)

I love you Dave Eichorn. I have never said an ill word toward you.

  10. You bash the last great hope we had in Buffalo. Unreal how many folks don't realize that Moulds career was started by Mr. Small. The man deserves more respect.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I liked Flutie a lot, but I don't think that benching Flutie was really the worst injustice in the world. In hindsight it may look bad, but the offense that year was doing terrible considering the talent.
