Ricky Pearsall. I think he's a top 40 or so player in this draft, but I wouldn't be surprised if he sneaks into the end of the 1st.
Well, at least I got one prediction right.

But it is a move up from the end of the 6th to the top of the 5th so around 60 picks. That's essentially moving up 2 rounds.
At the time, the details on pick numbers hadn't been released. But yeah, that's a great deal for one spot.
And the fact that it WAS one spot suggests to me that Beane isn't done. No need for Carolina to make that trade unless Beane was taking wider offers.

I hadn't considered that angle, but it makes sense. They could be trying to buy time or more appropriately match trade value. The big question is whether they can make a veteran acquisition work under the cap.

This is the worst part of it for me, especially if we take a player at 33. Even if it's after that, why give up the extra year of control for lower round picks?
Supposedly, it's a really poor draft at the back end. Maybe 5 rounds of players with draftable grades. If you can trade back here, convert some of those later picks into a higher round and still get the guy you wanted, why not?
My only gripe is trading with KC. Don't care about Worthy...the Bills clearly weren't that interested...but I don't like the idea of trading with the team that's been blocking us in the playoffs.

I'm sticking with the remainder of my initial group of five: DeJean, McConkey and Franklin (Latu and Worthy were the other two).
I think they may continue trading down a couple of spots at a time until one or two are taken. I think the above would be the order of preference for McDermott and Beane.

Moving back another is fine. Does anyone know the compensation?
Swapped a 6th for a 5th.

I've been saying it for the last two weeks...Ricky Pearsall at the tail end of R1.

By the way the trade value matches up exactly perfect by the Rich Hill chart:

227 points for both sides.
It's solid trade value and the Bills clearly didn't want Worthy. I just don't understand why you give him to KC.

Wtf...why help KC???

The run on WRs HAS been beautifully delayed, but it WILL happen soon no matter what the Bills do. Can't trade back and just EXPECT your guy will be there. But then again, you could get an extra day two pick and still luck into a dude...
If the Bills want a specific WR with this 1st pick, they should do it at 28 and get their guy. Don't chance it, not with the teams sitting behind them.

Yeah. The Bills are taking Cooper DeJean. Beane and McDermott can't help themselves.

Who do you guys prefer out of Newton or Dejean?
DeJean, no question about it.

Don't think he's a character/attitude fit for us. I'm proud of Beane for restraining himself.
I think they just can't afford a project. If they pick a WR, he needs to be versatile and capable of playing at a reasonably high overall level early in his career.

Cooper DeJean is a dark horse for the Bills since there’s so many WRs still available.
I'd give him the highest odds if he's still there at 28.

I honestly dont understand this take at all....
Guys that don't produce sacks in college usually don't do it in the NFL. It's a pretty decent negative indicator.
-
Thank goodness. I absolutely did not want Chop Robinson. Can't get to the QB in college, usually won't happen in the NFL.

Rasul played better than White. We have our #1, granted his contract over after this season but can't see us passing a top end X WR.
I agree completely. I'm not sure the Bills see it that way.

Now the Phins take Worthy....... but if they're smart they go Barton or JPJ
If they take Worthy, I'd give it about a 95% chance that the Bills are going to take a CB.

He was replaced by a better player.
I agree. I'm just saying that's how they would justify it. In reality, its because they can't help themselves.

Maybe the goal is to have ANY WR on the field a threat to be lined up anywhere and to be potentially be motioned. That kind of interchangeability WAS a founding principle of early E-P passing concepts. Interchangeability. TEs and RBs included, ideally.
That's the idea.

I’m not really going to understand a CB pick unless we are viewing Douglas as a short term player, or kicking someone who is currently a CB to S.
The Bills argument would be that they just lost their #1 CB in Tre White and desperately need another one or we're totally doomed.

The Bills are fine still as long as BTJ and Worthy are on the board there shouldn’t even be a thought of moving up yet
Pfft...everyone in the Bills' draft room is hyperventilating watching these DBs fall.

Do you trade up for Dallas turner though?
I wouldn't. I worry that any DE will end up buried as the #4 this year.

I'm not a huge fan of it, either, and to be honest, I don't think that's what they're doing. They probably have a handful of guys with the same grade and are willing to trade out as long as they know they can get one of them. We've seen Beane nickel and dime his way down the board before when he took James Cook.
