1. "When he's healthy and motivated, there's absolutely no question he's the best in the country," Bellotti said. "He hasn't always been healthy, and it took him a couple games to get motivated, in all honesty. " -- Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti

"When he turns it on, he's something special," Aliotti said. "Unfortunately, big men like that sometimes get tired, get a little overweight and don't always turn it on. But when Haloti's on his game, he's a force. He can be one of the finest defensive tackles that ever played. -- Oregon DC Nick Aliotti

Anybody else find these quotes troubling?

Tough call when deciding the type of player to draft...

    1. Great potential, pro bowl ability, but some questions in terms of effort

    or

    2. High motor guy, always gives 100%, but has limits in terms of athletic ability.

I've seen enough of #2, give me some guys that are more like #1 and cross your fingers that your front office staff can pick the right guy and the coaching staff can mold them into pro bowlers!

  2. Started all 16 games this year, couldn't have been TOO bad.  You're right though, in the past he has had trouble staying healthy...so I wouldnt be too opposed to getting another DT aside from Jackson...a guy like Lionel Dalton would also suffice.

I'm just saying buyer beware. He could be looking to cash in one last time before calling it a career.

Found this on a football info site(from 2004)...And Jackson is 32 and wearing down with knee problems. Jackson missed five weeks last year with knee problems, and the Packer run D was pretty bad until Jackson returned. But as the season went on, those knees got worse again, and the Packers run defense declined significantly in the last few weeks of the season, as teams began running around the increasingly immobile Jackson:

  3. I had sent a copy of WGR's wickedly funny Teddy Bruschi parody  that was made following the ESPN game where Bruschi came back from his stroke to my relative who then forwarded it to TD's family friend who then in turn forwarded it to TD.

TD thought it was extremely funny and played it for the entire team following the Sunday night game.

Very believable. Keep the insider info coming.

  4. Oooooo, I just saw that Kevin Shaffer's name is on that list!  If he makes it to free agency, he's a guy I'd love to see come to Buffalo.  Very underrated player, not well-known...started the last two seasons as Atlanta's LT, still very young.  Would be a great addition.

BGiM's Free Agency Wish List:  (No Bentley because every team in the NFL will go after him...we cant compete...I'm trying to be realistic here)

    1)  Kevin Shaffer, OT from Atlanta

    2)  Steve Neal, OT/OG from New England

    3)  Grady Jackson, DT from Green Bay.

Add to this my mock draft underneath and you'd have a very solid offseason.  Two new starters on the O-Line (possibly 3 if you count O'Callaghan who I think is going to excel at the NFL level), and a Grady Jackson/Haloti Ngata interior D-Line...Thats a lot of beef!

    577529

BGiM...doesn't Grady have chronic problems with both his knees?

  5. What was the final outcome of the case?

Excerpt from another link I found...

A female student at Barry told police she woke up in the middle of the night and found the football player in her closet defecating into her laundry basket.

Davenport was arrested and charged with one count of criminal mischief and one count of burglary. According to his attorney, the charges will be dismissed in exchange for Davenport teaching a series of football clinics in the Overtown neighborhood where he grew up.

"Thanks to the plea deal, it won't be necessary for us to dig to the bottom of this situation, and we're going leave it where it was," Sharpstein said.

My only question is, what doesn't he want to dig through and what does he mean when he says" we're going to leave it where it was"?

  6. -Sign Todd Collins (3rd QB),  LeCharles Bentley (new starting Center, $$$$) Jon Runyan (new starting RT, $$) Matt Schobel (new starting TE, $) Brian Williams (3rd CB, $)  Najeh Davenport(new Grawler, back up RB, $$) and Peerless Price (new 3rd WR, he has not been the same player since leaving Buffalo, it won't hurt to bring him back, $)

    577401

I don't want to worry about Najeh breaking into my house and taking a dump in my laundry basket. Say no to Najeh.

  7. I stopped at Todd Collins. Eesh.

    577485

Me too. What is the point of having two vets as your #2 & #3 QB's. The team should always be looking to develop a yound QB as a #3 instead of a vet on his last leg or a guy who just hangs around for years depite never showing anything(Travis Brown).

  8. These rumors about interviewing these HC candidates really for OC or DC

is perplexing....Isn't it the responsibility of the HC to select his own OC, DC

    and coaching staff ?

    577281

It's a by-product of the MM/TD regime where being sneaky and underhanded was always first and foremost. Passing off OC & DC interviews is brilliance...sheer brilliance I tell you!!!

  9. The only thing we know about JP for sure is this...

"I got the opportunity to go down there and play some golf and I said, 'Yeah, I'll play golf with Brett Favre,'" Losman said. "He invited me to the house to go pick him up, so I went to the house, and there he was with his tight little shorts, no shirt, his little red hat, and he was doing some farming or something, and he was covered in dirt. It was awesome, man. It was good to see that."

  10. http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=local&id=3830419

...Royston, a father of three and former high school football coach, was leaving a restaurant with two friends, Amormino said.

Amormino said the car was speeding through the parking lot and running stop signs, and Royston motioned for the car to slow down. He said the BMW then turned around at the end of the parking lot and sped toward Royston and his two friends.

The two friends managed to jump out of the way, but Royston was struck and thrown into the air. Royston was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery for massive head trauma, Amormino said. He is now on life support, according to broadcast reports.

    B-)

  11. One time a freakishly tall dude (~6' 7") was heading into the stall next to my colleague.  He looked down at him and said hello.  My buddy said that the experience bound him up for a week.

    B-)

    575653

Verry funny! Ooops...I think this is funny, but who am I to judge.

  12. I have a gut feeling that the hc has been selected.

All the interviews here on out are for coordinater positions.  Lofton, Capers and Haz (if he's still coming in).

    Kind of smart.

    575563

I would think your HC would be involved with the hiring of his coordinators and since we don't have a HC, this doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

  13. Very funny with Curly. "Look at the Grouse!"

Good with Shemp. Some of his episodes are brilliant, some suck.

Anything other than those two = NOT Three Stooges but some horrifying bastardization.

    575083

Agreed. I had my daughter hooked on the Stooges when she was 4 or 5 until the wife came home one Saturday afternoon in the middle of a Curly classic. Then she somehow brainwashed her to the point of not being interested anymore. :(
