1. He is one of the top doctors in the world, a graduate of the prestigous University of Jason Peters Medical School and head of the world renown Jason Peters Clinic

:o Has the Jason Peters fan club been keeping track of how many positions have been suggested for JP here at TBD??

  2. Here's the show - Sabres good, Bills bad.............People in the media think that everybody cares about how the media is treated.  So, the Sabres are now on GR which makes every move they make great.  And, the Bills really don't have anything to do with them, so everything they do is horrible.

Talk about the friggin games and the football - not about how you are treated by the team - nobody friggin cares!!

You just hit the nail on the head. Good job!

  3. Just happen to have the June 5, 2005 BuffNews sports section in front of me right now. Headline: "UB light on pay scale", story by Rodney McKissic.

The average salary of a head coach at UB is $59,341, lowest in the MAC. (Ohio U. is next-lowest at $60,846; seven of the other 10 schools pay their HC over $70K.) The salary of an average UB assistant coach also ranks 12th out of 12 schools, at less than $30K/year.

I was wrong about the recruiting budget, though - looks like UB is middle-of-the-pack in the MAC.

The numbers were taken from the Corrigan Report, prepared by the former head of the NCAA. Here's what he had to say about UB:

As some of you have pointed out, that may already be starting to change. I wish UB well in the effort...

Thanks Lori. I must have missed this article in the Buffalo News. :)

  4. To those in this thread who stated that the reason for not talking the safety is that Miami could have scored and then miss the extra point, which then would have sent the game into overtime...

This season 273 out of 277 extra points have been made for a 98.55% rate. It's about as automatic as anything in football.

  5. Who gives a fug what he does or say? Mularkey could come out and Riverdance for 5 minutes, turn around and moon the press gallery, and then go tongue kiss Ralph Wilson but as long as we win on Sunday, who cares. The starting QB will be the one I see line up behind center and gnashing my teeth over not being told in advance who it will be is a waste of time.

and then go tongue kiss Ralph Wilson but as long as we win on Sunday, who cares.:doh::blush:

  6. I'm assuming that this is a serious question (if not sorry I missed the sarcasm).I'd probably guess a combination of things. It's cliche, but like many people have said weather is probably one thing. I mean honestly every time I meet someone and say I'm from Buffalo the first thing they say is "man you got all that snow there." It's like people think it snows in Buffalo year round. I'm sure the fact that they're closer to home is nice for family and friends to be able to see games. It seems to me like the schools here do show a commitment to winning and being contenders each year. I know this is kinda related to win/loss records but like someone else mentioned earlier the prospect of some national tv games must be exciting. I mean we have 4 national tv games this year and we probably won't even win the MAC. The schools are for the most part nice campuses in smaller, middle of nowhere type college towns. Its a fun atmosphere to be in at college not having to worry about "big city" stuff. Also, I know at this campus the fact that rich extremely hot girls seem to multiply by the day can't hurt. I know there are great looking women at every school, but man at this campus its something else. I'm sure anyone thats been here can vouch. Overall, its probably just a combination of many things that make it more appealing to stay close to home than to the "unknown" of UB.

    474224

It was a serious question. Thanks for the insights.

  7. Another thing to think about is the overal lquality of high school football players in the immediate area. Here at Miami U, we get a bunch of the good players that dont get scholarships to OSU, Michigan, etc. I'm from WNY but since I've been going to school here in Ohio, it's very obvious that the quality of high school football here is way above that of WNY. The best big school teams from WNY could probably get worked by some of the smaller division teams here. They're sure as hell serious about their football in Ohio.

    474129

Being in Ohio and considering that 3 or 4 schools in the MAC are from Ohio, I have a question for you. How are the universities and the towns they are located in, more attractive(outside of recent won-loss records) to a football player than UB?

  8. Good.  That way it will be like a kick in the balls for the opposing OC in his first game back, when he burns them for a big play.

Oh and check this out: http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/article...bills121005.php

    474040

I already saw the article you linked. I'm not saying he won't be a good player, I'm just questioning how big of an impact he will have in his first game. If he goes off for 5 catches for 120 yards and a TD, great for the Bills and great for him.

  9. I doubt the Jets would be cringing in their boots if they saw Parrish lining up to start the game...  It's not like anyone needs to gameplan around him (yet?).

I've said this before. DC's aren't losing sleep at night wondering if an under-sized WR picked in the 2nd round is going to show up in uniform for his FIRST NFL game. Just a hunch, but I think he may have to prove something on the field first.

  10. Check their recruiting budget vs. the other MAC schools - they've been trying to field a D-I team on a D-II payroll. Until that changes, don't expect them to get much better....

    473665

I've seen it reported in the Buffalo News that the UB football program is "underfunded", but I've never seen the numbers to back this up. It would be nice if the writer who covers UB for the News did an article on this. Real simple....obtain the football budgets from each MAC school and let the public decide if UB is "underfunded" and by how much .

  11. Looks like 10,000 in the stands.  Why are the Sabres not drawing fans?

This is a product of their tiered pricing system where the game last night was classified as a "gold" game with the cheapest ticket being $40. I can see where they can call the Toronto games "gold" games(they will all sell out no matter what the price), but Pittsburgh on a Monday night in the middle of football season was obviously a mistake on the Sabres part.

PS I saw the game on OLN and even though he was a ways to go in terms of playing in his own end, Vanek is going to be something special. He could have easily had 3 goals last night, if it wasn't for Fleury. Sometimes it seems like the puck just follows him around.

  12. I'll flip your question around and ask:

Could somebody please answer me this...Why does anyone feel the need to still bash Bledsoe?  So what if he gets praised here at TBD?  He's a goddam Cowboy and the Cowboys suck...every last one of them including their coach and owner.

The bashers didn't mind starting threads during the first preseason game about how badly he played, and even started threads after one of the first plays of the first regular season game.  But when he plays well, nobody should talk about him?  :pirate:

    472026

I guess since the Flutie/Johnson debate still crops up from time to time, it is to be expected that DB, his performances as a Cowboy and whether he should still be a Bill, will be rehashed from time to time.

    To each their own.

  13. Could somebody please answer me this....Why does anyone feel the need to still defend Bledsoe? So what if he gets bashed here at TBD? He's a goddam Cowboy and the Cowboys suck...every last one of them including their coach and owner.

If anyone feels that strongly about, why not go wash his balls over at a Cowboy message board. ;)

  14. Wow what a surprise...another column on what an idiot Sullivan is. He's a freakin' columnist and is supposed to write a piece 3 or 4 times a week stating his opinion. What a bore it would be if he ran all his columns through OBD & TBD for approval. Why not just add to the TBD TOS that "Sully's opinions are stupid" and be done with it. ;)

  15. His MENSA membership gives him that right.  It's printed right on the back of his members card.

    PTR

    471421

The MENSA membership also entitles him to talk endlessly about baseball even though 95% of his listening public could care less except for playoff time.

The Bulldog is the less polished of the two, but Joe fan can relate to him a lot better than some condescending guy with a photographic memory for stats.

  16. 8.15 ypa, though, which is excellent. that's the most important qb stat there is.

that's actually a very good showing for a"bad game". he's not gonig to be great every game -- no one is. also, the raiders' defense isn't nearly as bad as you are claiming. their first 3 losses were against 3 of the 4 best offenses in the league - NE, KC, and Philly (and they would have beaten Philly on the road if not for missed FG attempts).  they have good talent in the secondary and on the defensive line.

in fact, they were picked by many to go the super bowl.

    471816

His performance was definitely closer to "bad" than it was to "above average" as Peter(not to be confused with Pete ;) ) stated.

  17. It has become embarrassing for the Jags to have all the empty seats when they have a competitive team. Like was stated earlier, the Jags can't pull the tarps on and off, on a per game basis. They are on for at least the 2005 season. This is one city, where in hindsight, should not have been awarded a franchise.
