1. Yeah, it really comes down to how good the Rutgers defense is.  RU is too one dimensional to score much on Thursday, and the best they can hope for is if Teel plays mistake-free football and doesn't give Louisville the short field.  So the game comes down to whether the Rutgers defense is for real because they have to carry the team and slow down Louisville's powerful attack.

Louisville beat Rutgers 56-5 last year (not a misprint).  Let's see how much has changed in a year.

Teel and Hart (the starter last year) were both injured. Teel had a shoulder injury, so who knows.

RU got thrashed last year. Thrashed.

  2. What happens if Rutgers is undefeated?  Do they play Ohio State?

    827262

They should. They would have defeated two top 10 teams by then, including a number 3.

  3. No, what I'm saying is just blowing up two countries because they are supplying terrorists against the United States will lead to other countries doing the same exact thing.

    827214

    ;)

The way you worded that suggests other countires will blow up Iran and Syria too!? Hoo-rah!

  4. The bottom line, though, is that no matter what, outside forces (specifically, Iran, Syria, and radical Islamists of the al-Qaeda sort) will always court the fringe groups no matter how well you get the moderates to agree, and the fringe groups will always achieve a minimum level of effectiveness (i.e. simple existence) because of the outside support.

And that is why we need to turn Iran and Syria into dust.

  5. 1. Ohio State- It's November, just win.  Doesn't matter how.

    2. Michigan- See above.

    3. Florida- See above.

    4. Notre Dame- Offense in synch.  UNC never really threatened.

    5. Texas- Solid all-around performance against a decent OK State team.

    6. Louisville- I was sure WVU would win that game.  UL would get mangled by the 1-5 teams above, IMO.

    7. California- Never trailed against a decent UCLA team, and were up 35-10 with 10 mins left before 2 garbage-time TD's

    8. Arkansas- On the road at night on national TV, the Hogs were impressive against South Carolina.  23-6 at half.

    9. Wisconsin- One loss to UM.  I'm not sure if you guys bet NCAA, but keep an eye on Wisconsin.  They cover just about every week and I've made a killing on them.

    10. USC- A 42-0 win at winless Stanford doesn not mean they're back.  However, the offense may have found their identity in the last five minutes of the Oregon St game.  Booty looked legit for the first time at the end of their loss, and it carried over to Stanford.  Now the fun begins: OU, Cal, ND, at UCLA

Outside looking in (11-15): LSU, Auburn, Boise State, WVU, Rutgers

You have Florida, ND, and Texas above Louisville? And WVU at 14? :o

It's obvious you have a BE bias. ;)

  6. But they didn't lose to MSU.  And btw, would this be the same HORRIBLE team that beat Pitt by MORE than Rutgers did?

    825790

If you want to go that route Sparky, we allowed zip against Navy and only 16 against NC, before all of the turmoil there.

ND has the better offense, RU has the far superior defense. What wins again? <_<

  7. Way to be up to date on things...   <_<

ND also beat 2 Big Ten teams with winning records.

    825780

Isn't Wake Forest in First? Maybe I can say Rutgers in first in the BE if you only count NJ teams. <_<

ND also almost lost to a HORRIBLE MS team that should have beat them.

RU would beat ND on a neutral field, and I say that as a ND fan.

PS. Hope you didn't hurt yourself against MS the powerhouse we call UCLA, and Stanford.

  8. You know, I didn't believe in Rutgers a few weeks, but I'm inclined to agree now.  At the very least, they're going to scare the hell out of Louisville on Thursday.

    824788

RU has a great defense. They are incredibly fast, and they swarm.

We also have the best backfield combo in college with Leonard and Rice. Our QB Teel is young, and makes some bad decisions.

  9. Evidence #1 that Rutgers sucks: Their dillusional fans are bragging about a win over Navy like it signifies their arrival at the big time.  Can't wait to hear the excuses when they lose to Cincinnati...

    824612

I work for the University, and haven't heard anyone bragging over winning at Navy. Give me a break.

Care to put a wager on the Cinci game?

  10. Ed, there is no point with you.  You have become a BF-type homer.  Which is a shame because pratically everyone else here likes to talk real college football.

    824996

    A homer?

If you look at my previous posts, I said I thoughr RU would have a tough time with both Pitt and Navy. They dominated both.

ND has beaten as many "good" teams as RU has.

Maybe Schiano should start whining to the media because we're not ranked high enough. ;):)

  11. Anybody catch Greg Schiano's interview on ESPN Friday? They're already peppering questions on where he's going off to coach next year for big bucks. So I guess the fairy tale these days ends with drunk prince from Miami offering Cinderella $100 for a ballroom quickie at 8:30 p.m.

    824767

He's been getting questioned for almost 6 weeks. He's from NJ, he's in the process of building a giant house next to the University, and has stated numerous times he isn't going anywhere. He's an RU guy. He also turned down the Miami job once before, back in 2001.

  12. They could beat Texas...it is possible.  Just incredibly unlikely.  My opinion is based on the fact that they haven't beaten anyone worth a sht yet and I believe teams that Texas plays would have already beaten them (OU and Nebraska).

     B-)  :D  :P You can't possibly believe that...

Where do I start?  Do you think this makes Rutgers better than ND?  Try this on:

-ND scored on their first six possessions and didnt punt the entire game...Rutgers?  Punt, Punt, Fumble, FG, Punt, TD.  If you can't score against Navy, try a team with a real defense.

Look, I'd be excited too.  2002 ND started 7-0 and beat Michigan in that stretch.  After that we lost 3 of our next 5 including two blowouts.  Rutgers hasn't proved themselves yet...but they have plenty of upcoming chances.

    824509

The won 34-0. They gave up 0 points. 0.

And you're right, they will prove themselves. Just like ND has beaten anybody. :w00t:

  13. Now if you aren't trying to provoke, and you actually believe that RU would beat the likes of Texas, then I can't help you... :w00t:

    824084

Hey, I haven't been wrong with RU yet!

Can you tell my why they couldn't beat Texas? the only teams that could beat RU are OSU and Michigan.

Their defense is amazing. you can't pass on them, and until this past week, you can't run on them. Navy put up 100 yards rushing against them. Navy put up that much against ND in the first quarter.

  14. I'd take Texas, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Cal and USC (if they were playing well) over any of the BE teams.

You're actually claiming that Rutgers would beat Texas?

    :D  :w00t:  :w00t:  :D  :D

    823601

You're delusional if you think they can't get beat by the BE.

I'm glad your reading comprehension is still there.

    RU would beat Texas.
