Chris Johnson always tore up the Bills with the Titans. Geno's best game as a pro was vs Justin Rogers and the Bills last year. Also the extra time to prepare and rest isn't a good situation.
I think must win early is thrown out because their are more games to play. A division game on the road where you can get to 5-3 would be an enormous win even vs a 1-6 team. I think NE wins division and SD will get a wildcard so to me the Bills are fighting with Miami and all of Central for wildcard.
Win and get to say 6-4 or 7-3 and that Packers game maybe an ideal flex game to sunday night.

Looking at the RG3 trade after a year you would say the Redskins would do it every time. Now not so much, and as of now the Rams really haven't gotten much.
As for the hypothetical trade, a franchise QB is worth more than what you've listed so yes.

so before you see Bryce Brown run for our team you're certain that we would have picked a better player next year in the 4th round. Because.....you know our last two 4th rounders Duke Williams and Ron Brooks have been such game changers for us. Or Ko Simpson, now THERE's someone you don't get everyday.
Weren't they also 4th on the depth chart? Brown was terrible last season.

In light of the newest AFC East trade, let's talk trades. What Bills player would be the easiest to move, assuming we got "fair" compensation? No guys on rookie deals, because that's too easy. And keep salary cap concerns in mind; a guy like Mario, while excellent, does have a huge contract.
Personally, I think it'd be Kyle. Guy is almost perfect technically, and doesn't have a huge contract.
Taking away guys on rookie deals takes away most of the guys who teams would want to trade for. Eliminates Spiller, Dareus, Glenn, Gilmore, Woods. The easiest guy to trade on the team would be Fred Jackson. For what he means to the franchise and for the compensation they would get I think it'd be a PR disaster.
-
Well he did have one good game last year. Other than that he was terrible.
-
To add to what others have said - the game would take forever and it would be a slap to the face of the NFL for how the game is officiated. Exposing blatant bad calls and no calls would show how bad league officiating is and that is not something the league wants people to know.
The best fans can hope for is an official be consistent. Still pass interference could be called on every hail mary. I recall a game vs New England when they had Bledsoe and the Bills lost because a pass interference on a hail mary. I think the Ohio St vs U championship game was decided by what should've been a no-call. SB two years ago I think it's a good no call on the throw to Crabtree.
If we want officiating to be perfect then I'd throw every play and challenge that PI wasn't call then on defense I'd do the same that holding wasn't called. We'd be looking at games longer than cricket matches.

Why would San Diego trade a young, fresh, player who is playing better than any Bills' RB for Jackson or Spiller? Jackson is 33. Spiller hasn't played well and is a free agent in 2015.
There is no correlation between your first and second sentences. All three players are running backs. Even though running backs have diminished value, it is absurd to claim that a team would trade a good, cheap player with several years on his contract for a free agent whose play has declined or a 33-year old RB.
He's done well with his chance to play. I don't know if it'll continue. SD should be trying to win the SB this year. I think Spiller or Jackson would help them do that more than Oliver.
For the Bills part I wouldn't trade Spiller or Jackson for Oliver. Maybe a 7th.
-
Comparing Watkins to the guy in his draft class is premature. Their also is no evidence that Clowney will have a bigger impact than Corbin Bryant.
I think the Chargers would trade Oliver for Spiller or Jackson in a heartbeat. Running backs have no value in the league. The WR aren't producing and the QB for the first 4 games of the season has been benched. The offensive line is terrible and the running backs aren't producing.
Keenan Allen had a pretty good year last season and has a guy who would finish 1st or 2nd in MVP voting if the season ended today.
On offense I think the Bills are one of the 5 worst coached teams. They have enough talent to make the playoffs.
-
But ... Lee Smith, man!! He's gotta play!
You draft a WR in the 1st rd this year and two in early rds last year you've gotta gameplan for 3 te sets. Mike Williams is ok. If their was a problem with him in the locker room I'd guess they would just cut him.
If the Bills were to trade him they wouldn't get a 6th rd pick back. More likely he'd be cut and not sure if he'd get another chance.
-
BLASPHEME!!
How dare you dampen the enthusiasm for this generational talent!
Question: Who is the last 1st round WR drafted to truly make a difference on a top tier team?
A.J. Green, Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas made a play in the playoffs with Tebow throwing knuckle-balls. Dez Bryant is a difference maker.
-
In his first 6 games Green had 29 catches and around 450 yards. He finished the year with a 1057 yards. I think Sammy will get close to both those numbers. Usually coaches try to get the ball into the hands of their best players. Not the Bills.

I would respect him so much more if he did but he won't. He called Mario a loser on WGR last offseason and never stated he was wrong. It's the great part of being a sports "journalist." Zero accountability. Guys like Sullivan, Skip Bayless, Cowherd are never wrong.
I've heard stories from guys who worked in the business of other journalists standing in front of Sullivan so the likes of HOF players wouldn't attack him. Also in Buffalo we had Jim Kelley and the Sabres incident.
They're not paid to be fans and they're paid to give an opinion. Eating crow on the Dareus comments would give be the right thing for Sullivan to do. Guys like Bayless and Cowherd sold their soles a while back. ESPN radio is good but Cowherd goes by the same script as Bayless and Stephen A. Smith, LeBron, Cowboys, Brady. Cowherd throws in USC but they've given up content for ratings. Unfortunately this is what people listen to. While any sports fan with a brain turns off.
As for Dareus get the extension done.

Giving up another draft pick I think would be a bad idea. Which I think it would cost in terms of any trade. That 4th for Brown looks worse each day.
-
Keith Ellison, Eddie Robinson gets a mention for being juked by Chad Pennington.
-
I think it would be more ideal if Orton turned out to be a great late career quarterback like Rich Gannon or Brad Johnson. I don't want EJ back unless he plays like an above average quarterback or unless Orton proves to suck even worse. But we need better QB play than we have gotten the last couple years. They gotta find a way.
If EJ becomes a great late career QB like those two it won't be with the Bills. Now if the Bills wanna do football fans a favor and take Gruden off MNF and hire him as the next head coach I'd give it a shot.
-
My dream goes like this...
Orton proves to be a good game manager and the Bills win (barely) the AFCE.
Next year, EJ's a new man - a strong, confident leader and a decisive, accurate passer. He's become so much better than Orton that he wins the starting job and the Bills cruise to the playoffs.
That would be ideal. He locked on guys and it seemed his throws were determined before the snap such as the Watt int. When the Bills haven't made the playoffs in over a decade it's hard to be patient. Through no fault of his own fans are all sick of the same old same old.
I don't know if they can teach accuracy which is his biggest flaw.

I thought Booby had a 40 yd run in the Bears game if I'm not mistaken.
I'm referring to the Chargers and Texans game. A 3rd and 1 vs SD I was wondering why Dixon wasn't in and why they're running a shotgun handoff to Spiller. I thought they had a nice thing the 1st two games with the rotation. Dixon 0 carries the last two weeks.
Just a general point it's a passing league and maybe the stats will prove me wrong but why is this team always in shotgun on like 3rd and 2. I don't get why that is an automatic passing down.
-
I'm with mrags on this to the extent that it means CJ has been given his opportunities as a RB...rest him for a game, say his ankle hurts or his groin. Let Booby or Bryce Brown have a go at RB. IMO.
Has Dixon even gotten a carry the last two weeks and Brown has been inactive. If Spiller is gone after this year the answer at RB isn't on the roster.
-
Also, if you go back a bit further, Joe Flacco was a 2nd rounder who went to the playoffs each of his 1st 3 yrs and then won a SB. Matt Schaub was a 3rd rd pick who took Houston to the playoffs.
Unfortunately, my confidence level that they can pick the right one, regardless of which round, is not high at the moment.
Flacco was a 1st rd pick.
-
EJ was awful the last two weeks. The point of switching QB's is that if they don't win he's fired anyways.
As for the idea of Kevin Sumlin, all in.
-
Look at Brown's game log. He's a less talented Spiller. Brown just isn't good enough. A 4th rd pick for someone who isn't good enough to be active and isn't a rookie is looking terrible.
The Eagles give up a 5th for Sproles the Bills give up a 4th for Brown.
-
Brees also blew out his shoulder making it easier to let him go.
-
Yes that was my point, just didn't make it clear enough. Those were games he did enough to win, yet when you look at his record of 6-8 people see just that. But you can't blame him for all 8 losses. Would we be having backup QB discussions if he was 8-6? I hope not.
On the other hand you could say they won in spite of him vs Baltimore last season.
-
Barkley was the top rated QB going in two seasons ago. Bridgewater was the top QB going into last season. I think Mariota will be the top QB taken if not the top player.
A lot will depend on who the coach is. Brett Hundley could fall to the top of the 2nd.

A while ago rumors circulated that Miami offered Indy a 1st and maybe a 3rd for Marshall Faulk instead Indy took a 2nd and I believe a 5th to trade him out of conference and at that point out of division.
Draft picks are more valuable to teams than players. If the Bills traded for him I wouldn't of hated it. They did trade a 4th for a guy who was bad last year who plays a position that has no value in Brown.
Weird move for the Rams. Fisher will have a Jauron like first three years.
