  1. We are not on the team so we are allowed to look ahead. And be overly optimistic. Based upon how they are playing and how the opponents are looking I think the following is very possible. Maybe an additional loss to Washington, Dallas or one of the Jets games, but otherwise 13-3!

    NY Giants w

    Sun. Oct. 23 BYE

    WASHINGTON* w

    NY JETS w

    at Dallas w

    at Miami w

    at NY Jets w

    TENNESSEE w

    at San Diego L

    MIAMI w

    DENVER w

Seriously I am concerned about the two Jet games. In the first they have a bye the week before. In the second we are playing the third road game in a row - usually not a good thing.

The Jets really couldn't have asked for a better schedule as it relates to the Bills.

  2. Im glad some people decided to lay it on her. Some of the responses she quoted were funny. As life long Bills fans, we catch heat from everyone, all of the time.

She read all of reasonable responses, and decided not to post any of them. What's new? Columnists are always pushing their agenda. Journalism died a long time ago.

She looks like she got beat in the face with a hot bag of nickles.

Just to let you and other people who do not live in the Albany area, there were two well written and thought out responses in last Sundays paper on page 3 in the sports section. So the paper did not just cherry pick the lame moronic responses listed in today's paper. As an fyi, the Sunday paper has the largest circulation.

As a life long Bill's fan we have been catching heat. Not hard to understand when the Bills don't make the playoffs for 12 years. But trust me people who attack her with the vulgar words used or attacking her looks show a total lack of class and do not represent the majority of Bill's fans.

  3. The NFL does a great job of game scheduling. They know how to keep the whole league interesting from the start of the season to the end of the season.

Had we played Oakland and NE away we would have lost both games.

The season is young and the entire league is designed to get more and more interesting as the season progresses.

    Again, Kudos to the NFL.

What do you base your premise on? Is that really your opinion or are you trying (and succeeding) to be a total ignoramous?

  4. Are you sure Bills fans in Albany didn't start this little tiff - a long time ago? And maybe the newspaper finally got fed up?

That's the impression I get from reading the article.

Why go where you're not wanted?

Could you explain what you mean? I have lived in the Albany area for 19 years, originally from Lancaster, and don't get your point.

  5. 8 pm. In the past the team drafting first could negotiate with their pick. As I understand with the lockout, that is not possible now.

When exactly is the first pick going on the clock 7:30 or 8?

Also is there anyway we will know the first pick before the draft starts? I thought at one point in time the first pick has been leaked?

    Thanks

  6. This is unfortunately not true. Syracuse stations do get blacked out as well. You have to be almost as far east as Albany, as far north as Watertown, or as far south as Binghampton to avoid the stupid black out.

The Jets game is on in Albany. Not the Bills. Ravenswood in Clifton Park is the place to see the Bills game.

  7. It was actually a neutral game today.

Just like the teams that play a game in Europe, only with significantly less travel.

The people who make this a neutral, or away, game are the Bills fans who do not go.

It was the third game in a row the Bills had to travel to another city to play. It may be "neutral" but it is not a home game by any stretch of the imagination.

  8. The word used by Lombardi was "Elite" not Quality. There is a huge difference. Name an "Elite" player on the Bills based on past performance not your hopes and wishes.

I like Bakay but he's drunk the Kool-Aid. "For starters, every other team in the AFC East is playoff-caliber and got better." That's just plain wrong. The Dolphins and Jets are playoff quality? The Patriots got better? And who GAF what Mike Lombardi thinks. If Spiller, Jackson, Moorman, Lindell and the secondary don't qualify as quality, how can you take the guy seriously? He's an imbecile.

    10-6.

  9. According to WRGB channel 6 website, the Bills game is on in Albany. I would hope and expect that to be correct. Although Albany may be geographically closer to Boston, there are far more Bills fans than Patriot fans.

If the game is not on locally, there are several Bills bars. The best being Ravenswood in Clifton Park in my opinion.

  10. In Heitz's post #4 in this discussion states the Bills will explore trade options and "it is clear the Bills will not outright release him"

If Brown is correct, the Bills do plan on getting something for him and NBC Sports may be speculatiing. Imagine that!

  11. People around here make it like the cupboard is bare when it comes to free agents, but according to Denver's free agent class, I'd have to disagree. Bannan, J. Williams, and Jarvis Green were all signed to run the Broncos' 3-4 defense.

We could've used two of those guys, especially Green and Williams. Williams is the run stuffer we so desperately need and Green can get to the QB from the DE position, which is rare in a 34.

Believe it or not, I do have faith in Buddy Nix. I think he will do a helluva job in the draft, but it would be nice to see us supplement our roster with some free agents. If we at least signed a couple of guys like I mentioned above, it would give us more flexibility in the draft and allow us to take the best player available rather than draft for need.

How do you feel about the Cutler trade last year How about the tentative Marshall trade this year? Not much doubt that they have gone backwards.

  12. If it were really Nix's team, Marty Schottenheimer would be HC. I'm sure Gailey is highly respected by Nix, if he weren't, Nix would be out of here. But Nix and Schottenheimer are close. Ralph must have nixed Schotty. Ha ha.

Is it possible Nix considers Marty a close personal friend but did not want to hire him? I am sure many people on this board have businees associates they are close with that they would not hire.

  13. I'm usually more optimistic but consider me completely underwhelmed.

Fitzgerald - An awful choice for a backup QB. If anything we desperately need someone with experience who can help guide Edwards when he has his 3-4 defense panic attacks.

Florence - 6+million? For what? 15 games started, 3 passes defensed, 0 INTs. This seems like a Kelsay signing all over again - sign a mediocre backup to above average pay. Please, even the Jaguars considered him woeful this past year.

Hangardner - I actually like this move but not if we also lose Preston - we're back to zero depth and a questionable interior again.

I guess if we get Coles and Kendall or Walters and lock up Peters and Jackson, I'll see forward progress. But right now, net-net, we are treading water while our competition pulls further ahead.

I know as fans we generally over-value whoever we sign and that seems to be the case with these mostly 3rd tier free agents. My only solace now is Jauron can't survive another losing season but who knows what that outcome will bring in the future.

    2010 or bust!

Regarding Florence - I see from Two Bills Drive

He started 46 games last 4 seasons. He also had 10 interceptions in his last 3 years at SD. Also he only started 8 games last year. It appears to me he is a good pick up for the cost.

  14. Here's the Bflo News story:

    http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/200...e-bills-wa.html

As per usual the clueless Allen Wilson:

"Somebody is going to sign him this offseason. Given the Bills' need for another pass rusher, they would be wise to grab Wake before someone else does and give him in for a closer look in offseason workouts."

He's a street free agent. I don't know the rules here but there's basically only two possibilities. Either he can go to the highest bidder in which case the Bills would have to outbid other teams (and possibly overpay for him), or they all get the same deal so he has his pick of whichever team/owner/city he wants to play for.

Sure the Bills are interested. They worked him out. But it's a bit more complicated than "they would be wise to grab him before someone else does."

I don't understand what you are saying. Couldn't the Bills make him an offer now? Is it not possible he would accept?
