1. It was actually a neutral game today.

Just like the teams that play a game in Europe, only with significantly less travel.

The people who make this a neutral, or away, game are the Bills fans who do not go.

It was the third game in a row the Bills had to travel to another city to play. It may be "neutral" but it is not a home game by any stretch of the imagination.

  2. The word used by Lombardi was "Elite" not Quality. There is a huge difference. Name an "Elite" player on the Bills based on past performance not your hopes and wishes.

I like Bakay but he's drunk the Kool-Aid. "For starters, every other team in the AFC East is playoff-caliber and got better." That's just plain wrong. The Dolphins and Jets are playoff quality? The Patriots got better? And who GAF what Mike Lombardi thinks. If Spiller, Jackson, Moorman, Lindell and the secondary don't qualify as quality, how can you take the guy seriously? He's an imbecile.

    10-6.

  3. According to WRGB channel 6 website, the Bills game is on in Albany. I would hope and expect that to be correct. Although Albany may be geographically closer to Boston, there are far more Bills fans than Patriot fans.

If the game is not on locally, there are several Bills bars. The best being Ravenswood in Clifton Park in my opinion.

  4. In Heitz's post #4 in this discussion states the Bills will explore trade options and "it is clear the Bills will not outright release him"

If Brown is correct, the Bills do plan on getting something for him and NBC Sports may be speculatiing. Imagine that!

  5. People around here make it like the cupboard is bare when it comes to free agents, but according to Denver's free agent class, I'd have to disagree. Bannan, J. Williams, and Jarvis Green were all signed to run the Broncos' 3-4 defense.

We could've used two of those guys, especially Green and Williams. Williams is the run stuffer we so desperately need and Green can get to the QB from the DE position, which is rare in a 34.

Believe it or not, I do have faith in Buddy Nix. I think he will do a helluva job in the draft, but it would be nice to see us supplement our roster with some free agents. If we at least signed a couple of guys like I mentioned above, it would give us more flexibility in the draft and allow us to take the best player available rather than draft for need.

How do you feel about the Cutler trade last year How about the tentative Marshall trade this year? Not much doubt that they have gone backwards.

  6. If it were really Nix's team, Marty Schottenheimer would be HC. I'm sure Gailey is highly respected by Nix, if he weren't, Nix would be out of here. But Nix and Schottenheimer are close. Ralph must have nixed Schotty. Ha ha.

Is it possible Nix considers Marty a close personal friend but did not want to hire him? I am sure many people on this board have businees associates they are close with that they would not hire.

  7. I'm usually more optimistic but consider me completely underwhelmed.

Fitzgerald - An awful choice for a backup QB. If anything we desperately need someone with experience who can help guide Edwards when he has his 3-4 defense panic attacks.

Florence - 6+million? For what? 15 games started, 3 passes defensed, 0 INTs. This seems like a Kelsay signing all over again - sign a mediocre backup to above average pay. Please, even the Jaguars considered him woeful this past year.

Hangardner - I actually like this move but not if we also lose Preston - we're back to zero depth and a questionable interior again.

I guess if we get Coles and Kendall or Walters and lock up Peters and Jackson, I'll see forward progress. But right now, net-net, we are treading water while our competition pulls further ahead.

I know as fans we generally over-value whoever we sign and that seems to be the case with these mostly 3rd tier free agents. My only solace now is Jauron can't survive another losing season but who knows what that outcome will bring in the future.

    2010 or bust!

Regarding Florence - I see from Two Bills Drive

He started 46 games last 4 seasons. He also had 10 interceptions in his last 3 years at SD. Also he only started 8 games last year. It appears to me he is a good pick up for the cost.

  8. Here's the Bflo News story:

    http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/200...e-bills-wa.html

As per usual the clueless Allen Wilson:

"Somebody is going to sign him this offseason. Given the Bills' need for another pass rusher, they would be wise to grab Wake before someone else does and give him in for a closer look in offseason workouts."

He's a street free agent. I don't know the rules here but there's basically only two possibilities. Either he can go to the highest bidder in which case the Bills would have to outbid other teams (and possibly overpay for him), or they all get the same deal so he has his pick of whichever team/owner/city he wants to play for.

Sure the Bills are interested. They worked him out. But it's a bit more complicated than "they would be wise to grab him before someone else does."

I don't understand what you are saying. Couldn't the Bills make him an offer now? Is it not possible he would accept?

  9. To me it is obvious why the Bills Game is not on. WRGB carried the Jets preseason games. The goal is to make this a Jets area. There really can't be any other reason. How else could the Indy - Minn game be put on in NY?

BTW - For anyone in Saratoga county looking for a great place to watch the game check out Ravenswood. Anytime the game is not carried locally, the Southern Saratoga chapter of the Bills Backers meets there. We get the side room which has two flat screen tvs.

  10. I'm a 21 year old season ticket holder who is a senior at the University at Buffalo.  Normally I attend all the home games, but being that this game is on X-mas eve I'll be here in Albany for a night dinner party with all of my relatives.

Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can watch the game.  Zap2itnow.com shows that cbs will be showing the patriots jaguars game here in Albany so that means I have to go somewhere to see the Bills huge game this Sunday.  I'm pumped for the game, but not so pumped about probably having to watch it in a crowded loud bar.

I was home the weekend before t-giving and caught the Bills Texans game at the Side Door Cafe across from Crossgates.  It was alright they had the game playin and all but small tv and not the best situation.  If anybody has any suggestions i'd love to hear from you.  Or even better yet if anyone had DirecTV and the sunday nfl ticket I'd be more thanwilling to pay you and watch the game with a fellow Bills fan (I realize that is asking a bit much though considering it's on x-mas eve, but just figured I'd throw that out there)

Thanks to anyone who can help, I appreciate it.

The Ravenswood or Rusty nail in Clifton Park are both good. At the Ravenswood we actually get a room with 2 flat screen tv's to ourselves.

  11. What is the delay?  CBS can offer only two games: Jets @ Tenn or Bills @ NE.  They still haven't decided what game to offer in NY?  I see the Syracuse offering is also TBA.  What gives?

    762536

I sent an email to WRGB stating that since it is Wednesday the decision should have been made by CBS and they should update website. Hopefully we see good news soon.

  12. Bill,

    1. Moulds is a tough call. I agree with you that if we let him go it frees up money for 2007 and the Bills WILL need it. This year is a rebuilding year as have the last six. The only concern I have is - Who will be the #1 receiver? Evans reminds me of Peerless. I actually believe Parrish may attract more attention (if he can get off the line due to his size). Possibly Everett will also step up. The QBs on the roster have enough issues with out having to worry about who can catch the ball.

    2. Mr. Wilson has been incoherent for a long time. Hopefully Jacobs, or Rich or Gallisano step up. SOON

    3. All another team has to do to a prospective free agent is show them a video of Ralph and tell them Marv's age - Would you want to commit to your future here? I know money talks but if the dollars are close Buffalo will lose more than they will win in my opinion.

    4. The draft is very important, but there are too many holes to be filled via the draft.

  13. Does anyone know what the schedules are for when the discount carriers release blocks of flights?  Calling them up, gets you nowhere.  They just tell you to keep checking back.  The problem is I am trying to get a roundtrip flight out of Buffalo to Florida for the week of President's day, but because all the kids have off from school that week, the discount fares get scooped up in a hurry.

    355448

I am not exactly sure when each discount airline releases their schedule, however I would check daily. You will be surprised how fast the low fares disappear and then the seats. Last year the cheapest seats were over $400 in December if you wanted to fly Friday or Saturday.

You are taking a huge chance if you wait until several weeks in advance. I will be willing to bet every seat is sold out for Friday night and Saturday morning. I live in the Albany area and this past February break, USAir was offering 5 tickets to take a bump on Friday night and 4 tickets to take a bump Saturday. They were desperate.

  14. Saying we dont get things going.  TD is not known for taking care of his own FA.  Pittsburgh was like the front door of a bank on payday with FA.

Id hate to see TKO, Fletcher and others go because this team cant get it together...

TD needs to shop for Oline and a DE.

I think Bledsoe has one magic year in him with the right line.

    43980

Why are you even thinking about this when both have several years left on their contract? By the time they are able to leave Bledsoe will most likely be enjoying life as a backup or as a retiree in Montana.
